@@suekelly840 Ah, for hand applique, you would definitely want to search for a large eye needle. When I googled the 12 wt pearl cotton, it recommended a size 15 milliner's needle. @@quiltingwithlori I ordered the Size 15 milliner's needle. It won't work because, even though the 12w pearl cotton fits through the eye, the needle itself it too thick and won't pierce the fabric easily. I'll continue to use a Fons and Porter self-threading needle. Thank you for your suggestion.

Sue, the best needle to use with 12 wt pearl cotton would be size 90/14 or 100/16 topstitch needle.
