There is no world cr.MK needs to jail into a block strong of meter chip. Do you know how often good players DI Ryu's cr.MK? ALMOST NEVER. You risk taking 70%. The same is kind of true for Ryu except Ryu has ALL THE CONTROL. If he doesn't follow up cr.MK and you mash DI he wins. If you do very few if any character can do the same damage Ryu does. Why would you not special cancel? Because Ryu doesn't need to rush a round. He can explode you from near full and he has good pokes and well above average neutral. God forbid he gets a life lead from a random EX fireball that's unreactable. Also do we forgot cr.MK DR exists as well? So should Ryu do that and you mash DI he again does silly damage to you. Ryu did not need that buff. Why should he get arguably the best cr.MK into strong drive chip? Also his heavy donkey kick while weak still had spacing trap perks. You realise it pulls his hurt box back? If you try to take your turn back and he cancels into Donkey Kick on a minus button after pushback you just eat a massive counter hit. He's more than decent before this buff and while I agree he could have had some minor changes he could have used some nerfs. Have you seen how dumb Hashogeki is?
Used to optimaly take away 65% Now can take 70%. Unless the skill expression is very toe to toe in a game, the snowbally nature will not have difference. The buff is mostly qol and options. Much much appreciated and needed.
Honda season 1 got to do this constantly with NEUTRAL SKIP, didn't even need to be in footsies range. And it's the same deal. You can perfect parry just as you can perfect parry Honda. Or DI if you time it correctly. What you can also do is outright interrupt it since it's 27 frames, as opposed to Honda's headbutt which you can't.

Off-topic question. I find myself dropping heavy DK into Light DP. How do I get that more consistently? Like, is it a timing? because buffering doesn't really help me.
You might need to practice different timings and see what works best for you. It needs a bit of practice, but if you pay attention to when the opponent starts floating for a moment after the donkey kick hits, that's when you input the DP.

Buffs are nice but i don't really like the fact that they basically killed medium donkey kick, when am i supposed to use this move now? Heavy dk just replaced it in most cases it seems.
Yeah I totally get what you're saying here. I think the only use for it now is throwing it out in neutral. It's still faster than Heavy Donkey Kick and hard to punish. I'm probably just gonna do that because the heavy version is pretty react-able

5:28 it means that, if it gets blocked, you get punished standing instead of crouching so you can get punished by moves that whiff on crouch now

If you do the ex donkey kick, f hk tatsu, is it still a safejump if the opponent backrolls? Er, will your attack still reach?
If your closer to the corner it will still reach, but mid-screen you will be far. It is still safe from an ex DP though.
