      I think this is called levelling yourself. You forgot that crazy fish won't fold even if they are convinced you have AA or AK. Such players ALWAYS find a reason to call. The JJ decides you can have AK (or worse). The A9h decides you have KK and he is willing to take the worst of it. Besides, he has a nut draw, right. Such plays on your part are probably a great addition to your arsenal, but ONLY when you know the opponents are sound, thinking players who can actually lay down good hands. Too many folks simply decide their hand is worth playing and won't adjust to your range. This, in effect, means you cannot bluff in this spot against some players. The good news is that your value hands will get more action.

    That’s one of the risks of GTO, you have to assume your opponents are also playing the same way and are capable of understanding when to fold a decent hand because it’s a losing play to call in the long term.
    When they don’t….well that’s how you can get stacked

    • @thecocktailian2091
      @thecocktailian2091 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But bad play is bad play and can only result in long term losing. The true trap is those guys that have nothing but money and dont give a ()**&^ about losing. Happily throwing their money away to score on that two outer or just reveling in being an Arsehole.

      Today i learned that 5betting A6 suited pre is GTO

    • @hawleyj22
      @hawleyj22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jcw8955 that’s a misunderstanding of what happened in the hand and not getting it.

    • @jcw8955
      @jcw8955 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hawleyj22 you seem to be advocating that Brad’s play in that hand was GTO, and that the only reason it didn’t get through was his opponents not understanding the play and calling off lighter than they should (which is true, to an extent. A9 should never have put more than $60 into the pot). but A6s is way too wide as a 5b bluff, it’s just torching money.

    • @hawleyj22
      @hawleyj22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jcw8955 that’s exactly what it is. Brads making the play because the strength he’s showing can only be done with AA, KK, or complete air. He’s banking on the fact that his opponents know that, and can’t possibly call with even QQ (as he states in the video correctly).
      Putting all the money in with A9 and JJ are both GTO losing plays based on how the betting went, which Brad was counting on his opponents knowing that.
      Brads cards didn’t matter (I guess the A does cuz it’s blocking), his play is based purely on the fact that GTO states his opponents shouldn’t be calling his raise in that situation unless they have a top 2-3 hand. But his opponents aren’t playing pure GTO.

    I have to wonder if playing on a regular schedule would help out? You seem to be playing at all sorts of hours instead of a consistent time frame. What do you do to clear your mind of these bad sessions? What are your relaxing hobbies? It might be wise to forget the $50k goal and play each day as if you are starting from scratch.

      Hell yeah, Brad!! That's fantastic. Most people don't realize how high of limits you have to play to make a somewhat decent living from poker. At least when online poker was in its glory days, you could control variance to a certain degree by sheer volume. Cant really do that in a B&M setting. You should be extremely pleased hitting that 50k mark. GL GL moving forward, and hopefully see you around one of these days.

    Brad, I love your vlog, it's the best poker vlog by far on TH-cam. Your analysis of the A6S hand was spot on, and you had the heart to go with it. I've crunched the numbers and if the lunatic min-3 bettor folds like a sane person would do, your equity in the hand is about 26% if the button jams and you call, but you have fold equity. If he folds a little bit more than half the time, which many people will do in this spot, you break even in the long run. You made the right play I believe, and the fact that so many of us watch your vlog, it's a bit of an image play that will get you future action. I've seen you use similar analysis to take down pots pre-flop, and it inspires me. The mood ring, the Inception reference, the Mcconaughey thing, dude you are killing it. I lost a little playing hold'em tonight too, a bunch of putzes stacked up all the chips while I ate shit, but watching your content and analysis really has helped me to think more like a good no-limit player, and I take some chances now when my gut tells me to because of you. keep up the good work. Hey, in case you read this, if I made some bumper music to put in one of your vids would you use it ?
