    I used one edc at work for 18 years as a surveyor and it was still in fine shape when I left it in a work truck. It for sure had another 50 years or so left on it. I finally ordered another one after a few months of not having it and finding out the work truck it was in was sent to the other side of Texas.

    I've had one for maybe five years. Use it a lot-clearing small trees, Limbing, vines-even use it to trim the Hedges in front of the house. They were 6 to 8' tall, now they are 3'. I wrapped the handles in paracord and left a loop thru the hole in the end to wrap around my wrist. Probly due to the Stroke but I have a tendency to lose my grip and sling it off into the brush so the Paracord keeps it there.

    If a person could only have one blade that should be it, good demonstration and This reminds me that I need to sharpen mine.☺

      I forgot to mention that the nicks and rolls only happen when I accidentally hit metal poles in a fence line or whatever. It never has any problem when cutting wood or limbs. It will slowly dull over time with heavy use, of course, but it wont nick or roll on wood.

      @@davidsblades3756 How hard are you hitting on stuff as I got like 15€ billhook not long ago and it bend the edge into an s shape when cutting down a small tree after like a week of use, I'm planning to buy a royal kukri machete from cold steel and just don't want to get something that I can not beat against wood...

      @@Ve-suvius No, while purchasing I saw I'd have to pay like $65 to ship it to me + eu import duties would cost me like 30% of the price, and in eu they are like 50 - 60€ which is not worth it in my opinion, also they are out of stock in every store I checked, therefore I ordered a tora bsi kukri but it hasn't arrived yet.

      @@Ve-suvius I think if you are worried about edge damage or the thing failing under stress it's no problem, I got a 5€ machete the other day just for fun and I chopped and cut branches and small trees for like an hour and it held up very good, I even hit a rock at some point and the edge was barely dinged, also was able to get it to shaving sharp with relatively little effort.

    There great at carving and chopping. I'll take my kukri for camp chores over an axe any day.

    I have one of these. And after putting a convex edge on it I can chop for days and not do more than occasionally run a steel down it.

    You are not that careful in chopping the woods, branch, while they're lying on the ground... The blade's sharp edge would dull sooner since you're hitting the ground/stone repeatedly. Better to hold the branch higher from the ground and cut/chop it.... You don't need to spend too much of your time sharpening the edge....

      It's abuse for sure, but unintentionally works as a blade toughness test for the review.

    You should buy a cold steel gurkha kukri then you'll really find out how amazing a kukri design is

    Have you ever tried the other kukri machete the longer one. I was wondering which one is better. See I have a kukri from Nepal it's a sirupate I love it. But I was thinking about the longer one just to play with. I also train in fillipino sword fighting. I don't know I guess I'm looking for someone to give me a excuse. Lol ya know

    • @davidsblades3756
      @davidsblades3756  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not been able to try the longer one, but I’m sure its chopping capability could only be better with added length. The sacrifice on length is weight and maneuverability.

    Now that our Kukri Plus Machete for approx 30 bucks is disc. you only have the chance to buy the same model as Gurkha Kukri 3V (msrp 765 bucks) or with worse steel than 1055 Gurkha Kukri 4034SS (msrp 375 bucks) lol

      Dang! I was not aware of that. This video took a huge dive in how many views it typically got at some point. I figured either the item was discontinued or my channel got shadowblocked for triggering comments or something.

    • @davidsblades3756
      @davidsblades3756  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chopping twice in the exact same place is extremely ineffective. You have to hit two places for a chunk to come off. You have to keep hitting inward to form a V. Only a person who’s never chopped anything would think the goal is to hit the same spot twice.
