- Sri Sarada Devi (22 December 1853 - 21 July 1920), was a nineteenth-century Hindu mystic and saint. She was the wife and spiritual consort of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Sarada Devi is also reverentially addressed as the Holy Mother (Sri Sri Maa) by the followers of the Sri Ramakrishna monastic order. The Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission situated at Dakshineshwar is based on the ideals and life of Sarada Devi. She played an important and central role in the growth of the Ramakrishna Movement.
Sri Ramakrishna looked upon Sarada Devi as a special manifestation of Divine Mother of the universe and their marital relationship was purely spiritual. Those who associated with her were overwhelmed by her unconditional love and selfless service. All were her children irrespective of nationality, religious affiliation, or social position. No one was ever turned away. She accepted all.

Oh illusionary world it is from you I was given form only to recognize that I must now lose you. What I thought was freedom was just a dog chasing its tail in endless pursuit of more illusion. How foolish am I? True freedom is surrender. Surrender of will and the allowing of Life to flow through an open heart. What I thought was heart was just selfish love. A love that knows no bounds can only be found in stillness and silence. Silence from the mind, beliefs and ambitions. Let the sword of silence and surrender purify my heart, my mind and my actions; allowing my divinity to merge with Divinity.

Beautiful to hear something on the path of devotion - that we don't hear much about in Buddhism
Yes, this may appear so when people only approach Buddhism through an intellectual understanding or through books. However, those immersed within the various traditions understand the central place of devotion to the practice and how no progress on the path can be made without it. Homage to the Triple Gem (with full open hearted knowing of what this means), Guru Yoga, devotion and commitment to Sila/Virtue, Samadhi, and Panna/Wisdom, are just some of the central tenets of this practice of devotion. Nowadays, many people pick up "Buddhism" without the least understanding of what it means to have devotion to the Buddhadhamma, and how vital this is.
