The more I see others complain and gossip I find I must turn from the urge to join in or try to explain, because that is the same movement in me.

My oh my, what a joy my life has become since I began practicing advaita vedanta. 24 minutes of The Bhagwan's words, absolutely cutting to the core of truth, are worth a year of study. No wasted words on this one. Thank you Samaneri. I love you and all that you do. 🙏🏻

You do a superb job at reading these timeless Teachings. Your pace is such that each pearl is dropped distinctly. You give the space between words so that are no longer words.

As a long time practicing "lay" Buddhist I have in recent years been investigating more its Vedic origins (Vedas, Upanishads, Yoga Sutras etc). It could be only a matter of my getting on in age now or it could be mere coincidence I suppose, but since visiting the Vedic roots of Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism (plus other traditions) things have been "falling into place" I would say. It is as far as I can see, just as Maharshi says. Thank you Samaneri Jayasara 🙏

How do you feel about the renunciation of the body? I’m less familiar with this, and it seems at odds with some of my more new age, body celebrating practices.

      @@izdotcarter
The body and mind and the many "energies" of emotion (pain, preference, desire, etc) are non-dual (IMO).
I have a friend who is fond of the idea that the body is nothing, that we are only "spirits" inhabiting a body which is to him like "dead matter" or "dirt" I suppose.
This "dualistic" view does not seem to match up very well with either the Eastern views OR even the Western "materialist" view of reality.
Consciousness without life, without the body would be inert, static - kind of an eternal "so what?"
Consciousness with movement or energy is life. The body is what gives life to consciousness.
Symbolically this is of course the divine (sacred, valuable, meaningful) UNION of Shiva (static consciousness) and Shakti (energy, nature).
In or AS "UNION" these two are actually ONE "being." This means they are inseparable and in reality always occur as a single entity.
In my experience, I spent many years mainly trying to "get" enlightenment with the intellect alone, as though if a teacher just said the "right thing" in a lecture and I logically connected the dots I would somehow "solve" the equation and arrive at an enlightened state beyond suffering - with my answer of "42." 🤣
In other words, I had a very dualistic view of the world - my mind was everything, the body was...meh🤷‍♂️
This is just what the Buddha was doing when he was trying to physically starv his way to nirvana.
But then I happened to hear a Tibetan tantric teacher one day say that..
"Enlightenment exists in the body" and I became curious about what the h that meant? My body was "nothing" to that point, just a "stupid piece of meat" I thought. But as I found out latet, there are Gods, Godesses & Buddhas living within the body!
If the whole of reality is "vibrating energy-consciousness" (and I would say it is) then you can view that as a spectrum - with coarse vibrations on one side and fine vibrations on the other.
The more "internally" we focus the more subtle and "hidden" reality (experience) becomes, and although it is still reality it has to be discovered not by means of the senses.
But this seemingly "external" reality is ALSO part of the spectrum - it ALSO is *reality* but is more obviously and "easily discovered" because it is known thru the coarse senses.
Mind (subtle) and body (coarse) are both occurring on the ONE SINGULAR spectrum of experiencing (consciousness) - that we call "reality."
If we think of consciousness as something seperate from the body then we make the mistake of denying the body (or if we are a materialist we deny the mind). But reality and truth are WHOLE or "whole-istic."
The reality and truth is that the mind and body are inseparable- like Shiva & Shakti.
There are many ways to intentionally discover this - such as how the originators of Yoga have passed down. These ways are not so much a "denial of the body" as they are of mastering or maximizing the potential of the body. This is more like the mind of a captain (subtle) controlling the very large mass of a ship (coarse) and not so much a "denying of" the body.
      Lastly...
We should never forget a few points:
      • We are not a "machine," we are human BEINGS - and beings have or ARE Body - but not "just" Body.
      • We are not "spirits" inhabiting a sack of meat - although that metaphor may be useful at certain times.
      • Mind and Body are ONE continuum of BEING, and BEING has many forms.
      • Sometimes the Body teaches the mind more than the mind teaches the Body.
Suggestions to try especially for Westerners:
      Hatha Yoga
      Kundalini Yoga
      Deity Yoga
      Dance
      Spontaneous movement
      (Tantric Dance)
      Tai Chi
      Art - all art forms
      Mantras
      Pranayama
      Singing
I could go on and on but it's already too much 🤣🙏❤

I agree with previous comment! As a longtime practitioner of Vedanta🕉️ Vedas Upanishads Sutras Shastras etc., and coming to Vajrayana Buddhism ☸️ later in life I have found them to initially appear quite different, especially since The Buddha had found His Enlightenment was both antithetical toward the Brahmanism He had learned in His youth, and also that His concept of “AnAtman” seems irreconcilable with the older Vedic Traditions’ “Atman”
And yet in my own practice, in which I admit that I have found that a kind of “Hybrid Meditation” of AdvaitaBuddhism, or “BuddhVaita” works best for me. And although I have studied and am familiar with the Buddha’s concept of “Dependent Origination”, I have come to the conclusion that Atman and Anatman are Non-different, much like Einstein’s (“Special Relativity”) double slit experiment revealed that photons are either and both Wave-Particle natures at any given moment. 🕉️=☸️?? ❤️‍🔥

I love this but don't play it through wireless bluetooth speaker. When it detects no sound it shuts off. When it then detects sound it takes a second or two to turn on so you miss the beginning of almost every sentence. Okay I found a solution. Open another YT tab and play some meditation music very low at the same time. That keeps the speaker on.
