- WHEN I BOUGH THIS ROLLBACK, I NOTICED THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE WAS WORN ON THE INSIDE EDGE. I FIGURED IT NEEDED A TIE ROD OR POSSIBLY KING PINS.....BOY WAS I SURPRISED WHEN I JACKED IT UP TO CHECK IT OUT. THE WHEEL WAS READY TO FALL OFF. ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER AND WELL......YOU WILL SEE.

My uncle taught me that trick years ago. Car rotor with no edge to hammer it out. He ran a bead around the face of race with a stick welder and flipped the rotor over fast and the race landed on the floor.

Alright nice work…! I use “fluid film” on those flat “mating” surfaces…, we have brine and mag-chloride for snow & ice removal…, horrible on running gear, brakes, and frames.

At last someone on utube that does not fiddle around with brakes respectively doesn't underestimate, how important it is, to always do both sides! I've seen guys changing only one caliper for instance! Nothing on a vehicle is more important than brakes. Thanks for being a good role model. Great work J.C.! A little maintenance and TLC goes a long way. Plus it’s helpful to have those spare parts lying around. Having to spend $90 for a parts kit when you only need a bushing adds up quick!
Things have been goin good up here in the Northwest. Finally got around to running shop air through those oil rails on my Powerstroke, and as far as I can tell everything checked out fine. I posted the video on my channel if you’d like to take a look sometime. Also since we last talked we ended up buying the house we had rented for over 20 years, and just got the cutest 8 week old Labrador puppy. LIFE IS GOOD👍! Hello Mr. and Mrs. Smith.....I have the same project coming this weekend for a new customer . J.C. ...a tiny suggestion...when you have the sleeve on the spindle..a quick tip is take a chisel and strike it on the flat of the sleeve in a couple spots..just one hit..they fall off...easier than prying them off.
Neversieze on the hub face is fine...but they do make a gasket the sits in between the hub and wheel..they come factory normally..both on the steers and in between the rears...most people chuck them..but they work .
Your impact works nice...seeing I have mostly Ingersoll cordless tools...I'm considering their inch drive impact...it's kind of odd it uses 2 batteries...but it has quite a bit more torque than the Milwaukee does . Or I might stick with the air...cordless tools have left a bad taste in my mouth over the years... you buy the tool...next thing you know they change battery design and nothing interchanges with older pieces or you can't replace older batteries
i use to see the plastic spacers all over at the parts suppliers but not so much in the last few years. when i ask about them, they have told me they quit stocking them. with as big as the m18 line up is, i cant see them changing battery designs without a retrofit that would work with existing m18 tools.

Thats a great idea to use that welder to heat those races up. If not you would likely be beating for an hour trying to get them out and taking a chance of messing up the rotor

I bet she is easier to keep between the ditches now. The way you grease king pins was told to me about 50 years ago by a Mack front end and frame guy.

That front end was rooted.After spending all that time and money on new parts,you should have put new pads on the new rotors.Job done.
the pads had 90% material left with no abnormal wear...there was no reason to replace them.

you mean like replacing ALL the races, ALL the bearings and ALL the seals like i did in the video?
It is scary how many poorly done wheel repairs show up. It shouldn’t be that difficult to get all the pieces back together.
What did you torque the new bearings to? Ive heard you dont back them off once tight either?
Hi from uk 👋👍 yes Milwaukee provise excellent tools and not to bad to deal with for repairs or warranty work but bit pricey to maintain after but quality costs us👌 great job on the bearing dont think it would of lasted much longer before trouble and I had brake variation or pedal pulsing, do you still pedal pulse with air brakes ? Or just a wobble thru cab and body under braking?maybe in steering too? Hope you guys had nice easter weekend and thanks for your time be safe and see you soon👍👋
out of all the milwaukee tools i have and use almost every day, i have only had one that needed warranty work. sent it out on a tuesday and had it back on friday. air brakes will pulsate as well.
@@j.c.smithprojects yep they really durable tools and take a good bit of abuse to from us never used the big gun what you have but I can see its a great bit of kit💪 and yeah the customer service at Milwaukee defo good my normal big impactor (I work on car's ) 1898nm hand held and it got knocked of a ramp and fell to its death but the guys at Milwaukee said even tho its wasnt under warranty anymore send it in we will repair it but I had to pay for service on it and bit on to cover their time on repairs and sent all me Milwaukee tools in tools in for servicing got better deal from the service department and freebies on return👍 we love free samples 👌I only found out last month air brakes work in reverse kinda ( the need air to stay apart prevent movement under failure of air pressure) but once working as you press brakes they somehow do some magic stuff👍 which I dont know!🤔 does it release air pressure to apply stopping force depending on pedal pressure? Thanks for your time👍👋

That was alarmingly loose! Looks like the previous mechanic for this truck was a bit of a hack, and also was likely unsure of when to use anti-seeze or lock-tight
every repair that i have done has had some trace of sloppy, careless =and faulty work.

I don't work on big trucks I own a D500 Dodge Holmes wrecker largest i work on mostly up to 1Ton. The world sure could use a bunch of mechanics like you im 65 never seen another big truck mechanic that takes the time and effort that you do. Certainly made me step up my game the little things you do. Now I buy more black spray paint than I ever have

Is that front axel a 8k to 10k or. 10k to 14k ? I went to order shocks for my flatbed tow truck and was asked that.i went with 8k to 10k front axle weight

i only sell of parts that i dont think i will use or want. i like to keep the parts for trucks that i buy and fix often.
For there to be that much play and the wheel bearings to not be in prices and the cotter pin still intact means they were most likely installed that loose 😳🤦
my theory was they didnt get the seal seated on the spindle. they thought it was on all the way...but it clearly wasnt.

75%chance its the dang kingpins. Thats one of the biggest problems with all the medium duty international.trucks. i had a brand new one in 2003 which was the first one of the newer body style and it had to have new kingpins at 85,000 miles. It was shredding the tires. It was under warranty thank god because the i had 2000 model that needed them and i had to torch the damn things to get them out. All the shocks do is make the tires get humps in them. They have nothing to do with the wheels falling off

no. there was copper anti seize completely covering the place on the pin where the bushing would have been. if it was worn because of the wheel bearing it probably would have minimal on it.
