I'm a bit late a the party, but I just had 3 Floor solo shows in a row in Amsterdam...1, 2 and 3 Sep. What can I say. Floor on stage is pure magic. And it's so much fun hearing her speak Dutch (I'm also Dutch)...After those 3 shows your reaction is a healthy form of rehab for me, Thanks!

The singer of the original has a great voice but you're right about the music. I think the term you were possibly looking for is "generic"...there was nothing adventurous about the music. It wasn't terrible, but nothing really stood out and made you take notice. Floor can take anything and make it better...and she does so with this song as well. It's not just her voice...it's her presence, her charisma and charm that make it better for me. Great idea doing both versions of the song for your reaction...it's gives a better perspective of the song when you have the original and cover versions back to back. Cheers!
Came across this video. I think that checking out Rick Beato's channel and his videos about bland modern music will really highlight what's going on // this song relies on very a small number of chords that move in a common progression. There's just not an awful lot of timing changes, chord changes, etc. But it's nicely recorded, and a good voice. || I have mixed feelings about what the experience of the band would have been to have Floor cover it - they got awareness on the one hand, and they got to experience someone else elevating their work.
