Hi, I think we're in the same boat and I'm from Malaysia and the captions feature hasn't officially launched yet. I've been trying to find ways to get it for years but until recently, I only had the feature for 2.5 weeks and I did little workarounds by connecting to a Surf Shark VPN every time I logged into my account and it did work. But today, the feature is disappearing and my Instagram goes back to its original region which is Malaysia in lieu of the USA, which is what I'm looking for. My take is that Instagram detects your algorithm based on recent activities such as liking and engaging with the audience of that country, tags, or locations in which Instagram thinks that you're from that specific country. It's just my theory and I have no idea how the algorithm works.

You can hide the country location from the settings, or you must have your vpn turned on all the time, couple weeks or a month then the country location would probably change… simply it must be connected forever

You can hide it, but you can't change the location
if you want to just hide it, go to settings- account- about your account ( second in the list ) -then tap the country and disable ( Show ).
