Dr. Choi is a leader in teaching folks needing information about
      WHICH METHOD TO CHOOSE.
      My decision for myself,
      I HAVE NEVER HEARD

      To SAVE MY KIDNEYS.
I played around with ROOT CANALS, PERIO DISEASE, CAVITIES.
There is a fortune in my mouth. My daughter read a book about how TOXIC root canals are.
She did not have to convince me. I knew I felt worse & worse every root canal I had.
Fate struck. I was hit in the mouth by a surfboard. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE.
The rest is a long story.
I want to say this. When I gave up the ghost on four front teeth THAT I HAD ALREADY INVESTED IN, 1 implant , 2 root canals, and 4 crowns. That was the beginning of facing the truth of l

Should you look for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon…. or….. Periodontist if considering full upper and lower FP1, FO2 or FP3 procedure?

    • @justinkiggins3106

Maybe, some OMFS are great and some are not, same with Periodontist. It's best to ask a lot of questions especially how many procedures have been done, it's not wrong to visit multiple offices when you're looking to spend a lot of money.

I appreciate your efforts to offer information regarding the differences between All on X and 3on6. I'm sure your desire is to help your patients and others. Most of the information you offer regarding 3on6, however, is inaccurate. I invite you to visit the Smile Clinic in Utah to see, and even participate in a 3on6 surgery. It's true that there are a rare few who don't have the bone to qualify for the three on six, but around 90% of those who had the All on X, could and should have had the 3on6. It is not true that the FP1 restorations end up being a single bridge rather than segmented into the 3on6. That has never happened here. Since there is no food trap with the 3on6, it is significantly more hygienic than the All on X, and does not have to be removed for cleaning. You do not lose your papilla, in fact the papilla between each tooth is your own gums. Because of the bone and tissue grafting we do, we don''t have cases of receded gums that show the implants. Independent studies show that the All on X is nearly 13 times more likely to break than a segmented 3on6 bridge, and about 10 times more expensive to replace. The cross arch stabilization you get with a single bridge puts less stress on each of the implants, and actually inhibits the strengthening of the bone in the way that segmented bridges do. We would love to host you in Utah at the smile clinic, let you participate in a surgery, and meet patients at the different stages of the process from beginning to end, even chat with some who have had it for several years. Give me a call at Utah Smile Clinic. Ask for Mike. I will also facilitate a telephone or video conversation with any of our doctors. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your videos. I didn’t know last dentists do these especially the 3 on 6. I thought the dentist in Utah “invented” them and I have been wanting so badly to go fly there for a consult. Thank you for your informative videos. I’ve learned so much this morning watching several of them and you’ve answered questions I could t get answered when I called and was told I would have to come for a consult
To discuss. If I lived in Texas I would go to your office for treatment. ❤

    Hi Dr. Choi,
Have you done a video on what is better all-on-4 vs snap in? (down side pitfalls) I can't afford the all-on-4 and wondering what the snap in type downfalls to the all-on-4's performance or how much I am leaving on the table in settling with snap in type. I really don't want traditional dentures. Even though I have one of the best dental insurance plans out there the limit on covering an implant is restricted (2 a year), the removal sedation and cost of a regular denture is covered at 80%. I know the implants are different and can't be used in the future for all-on-4. Something along the lines of having to be longer. Dr's here in Phoenix who are pushing for 60K full mouth restore tell me the snap in type will be good only for about a week then the bands get loose, and btw, we don't do that here, wasting their time with the apt. I've just recently walked out of an office when the Dr, was explaining that my health is more important than worrying about a 2nd mortgage, spend the 60K. Does your practice do snap in dentures? If so how many visits would be needed, I would be flying back and fourth from Phoenix. The last Dr I talked with this week said all-on_4 you have 80% of chewing, snap in 25-30% and regular dentures 10%. (edited: oops I did a search of your videos and found you did one 7 months ago round table.)

I've done a number and snap in dentures for patients and I use Zest anchors, do not use novaloc. The initial caps which are blue last about 4-6 weeks, I next move to the pink and I usually see them last anywhere from 6-12 moths. There is a clear cap which is the strongest, I don't use it very much because it makes the snap in denture tough to remove and the pink (medium) caps work very well. The upside the snap in denture is ease of cleaning the implants, the down side is that the teeth are acrylic. All on 4 materials are stronger. The #1 complaint with all on 4 is bad breath, Dr Choi is correct in that ease of cleaning for all on 4 is dependent on who makes the prosthesis, I would also add it depends on who does the surgery and how the gums heal. I don't know that one is "better" than the other, they each have pros and cons.

If your back two molar teeth are good, upper and lower on both sides, would you remove them anyway to prevent future cavities?
If doing full upper and lower removal.
One Dentist said leaving the back molars is helpful for alignment and spacing for fixtures.

2nd post for your guidance.... I did sinus lift & bone grift in March 2024, and implant in July on upper left 2nd molar. (1) What's minimum time you recommended before getting crown? (2) Is Zirconia preferred over PFM crown?.... heard that Zirconia will "wear-out" lower natural tooth plus if Zirconia "breaks"(?) a complete replacement needed vs patch-up on PFM crown. good day

Thank you for information! I was watching a lot of your videos recently- i got 1 failing and 2 questionable implants. Last week after running between the oral surgeon office and a regular dentist who put crowns I decided to add a periodontist to my treatment plan. I wish i went to the periodontist who also deal with implants before. My primary doctor and hygienist gave me ok for implantation, Oral surgeons and dentists were sure that im a good candidate too. I regret not going to the periodontist first.

@@dinkitt6426 I started last year in Sept. I was waiting for 8 months to heal due to our age we were told we need more time. We(me and my husband) went back in June for the final dental work. So far,so good. Honestly if you read the google review and watch the testimonials I can asure you are truth. I have been in so many dental clinic, not one can be compared with this.
I strongly recommend this clinic for several reasons. First of all, for the professionalism shown by all the staff throughout the appointments at the clinic. Second, for the exemplary cleanliness that I personally have not seen at any other clinic. Thirdly, for the last generation equipment available at the clinic and especially for the fact that this clinic does not refuse patients with extremely complicated cases, as was my case.

I had what his father had done …….. then the implants failed …….posts broke…….implants split ……what a nightmare . When they worked the implants were great . But the big issue ….is finding people with the skill to repair or replace the implant that can do it RIGHT the first time . I ve had many redone 2-4 times and they fit right . They pulled the implants out of my jaw while trying to tightened them . Be ware …this wasn’t my problem , but anll my trips I run into tons of people annd their issues..…all of people bodies will reject the implant after all those months of pain , drugs and aggravation . The dentist has to pull all your implants out because your body won’t accept the implant . Everybody is different . Know your up the creek when you sign all those forms that keep them from being sued.

Is it true that extraction of teeth will remove source of existing gum infection and therefore the implants can be done immediately after the extraction in one dental appointment? This is what I am advised by the dentist I am seeing. Shouldn’t we wait for the gum to completely recover from infection and then do implants?

    • @HairsWhatsUp

I've always waited and I get a bone graft placed rate after to save my bone from deteriating. However, I have friends whom have them placed rate after and they have had no issues. I was told if you have good bone structure after tooth is extracted then I think placement of an infant would be ok. They can even add bone graft during then too. I'd wait to add the tooth onto though until it heels. I hope he reply to your question though.

yes. well once you remove the infected teeth, they will also clean the infection site, and give you antibiotics, but they can playce implants there immediately after the etraction.

Question…you said a FP3 All-On-Four is stronger due cross stabilization, being one piece fixture.
But what if it’s a one piece FP1 fixture as well… like you stated early in the video, many new FP1 procedures are one piece fixtures?
Wouldn’t then the FP1 and FP3 be same strength?
Do you usually do a one piece FP1 fixture?
    If not, why?

My 4 implants failed, got infected because of extremely poor job done in Mexico. I went in Europe where I was fortunate enough to find very competent oral sugeon. One of the reason of failing implants is using low quality materials, but also if you have chronic disease, diabetes, cancer. Before surgery I had a full medical check up and I was fully anesthetized. While after procedure in Mexico after 4 months I alredy have periimpantitis( infection) in Moldova all 10 implants integrated,no infections whatsoever.

It's interesting, thanks for sharing! I've been in Moldova April 2024, thought about putting crowns on 3 implants, but decided to finish job in NYC. I went to oral surgeon in NYC before and after-to the general dentist for crowns. Now I have one implant failing and 2 others don't look good. I was fully cleared before - no diabetes, autoimmune etc but got perimplantitis and after running between office of the oral surgeon and a dentist to figure out what to do, I just went to the periodontist and hope the treatment I'm getting now will help to save my implants. I wish you a good luck with yours!

When you talk about FP1, you regularly refer to Three-On-Six… but can’t you do FP1 in a one piece fixture?
Does that make it harder to align?
If not, why would you consider Three-On-Six?

the best scenario is do a set of bone grafting for the first year while using temporary dentures and use implants with no fake gums.
first teeth are extracted and treated with a whole bone graft, when gums are healed regardless of the bone line, one small incision is made so a laser probe under the gums can scrape the surface of the bone so the bone graft can take hold, a half tube in the shape of the jaw is inserted under the gums on the area that was scraped and filled in with bone graft, the half tube is then later removed after the bone graft "dried up" the half tube allows bigger amount of vertical and horizontal bone graft to be used more than the required needs and at the same time stretch the gums and force them to grow, after 9 months the patient will have a huge bone callus with a lot of available gum that can be easily sculped and able to be inserted as many implants one needs even if one implant per crown, gum triangles between teeth are made with normal linear square sutures made partially on top of the implants crowns that are gently trimmed to perfection in two or 3 sessions, the result will be a perfect natural gum line with bespoke zirconia teeth and unless people do an x-ray its impossible to see by eye its a implant.
price it will be 3 times more than traditional all on 4 implants (150k/280k GBP) but will give also 3 times better results, last till you die! the procedure till completion will take little over than 2 years, its very painful even with medication and not pretty, specially during the last stage of the bone graft or the bone callus formation period where its difficult to eat solid foods.
for this procedure you need a faciomaxillary surgeon
