TINNITUS: I have to comment here. I am an audiologist. It is super normal to get a few seconds of ringing in your ears occasionally. Don’t freak out! It can be a sign of hearing loss but it can also mean nothing. As long as you don’t get other symptoms with it such as; ears clogged, ear pressure, hearing changes suddenly, then there is nothing to worry about it. Exposure to loud sudden sounds, loud sounds for extended periods of time, change in medication, diet, stress, certain health conditions etc can be a reason for tinnitus. It is not of concern if it is not constant and/ or suddenly frequently reoccurring. But yes! Ear protection is a fact! It will save you from having hearing loss caused by loud noise. It’s the only and easiest way to preserve your good hearing but it will not stop age related hearing loss. Oh!!! OMG do not put anything in your ears! You do not need to clean them out and no q tips ever! ❤ love you guys and this podcast!
As a hearing aid wearer I would say I have to go to the ENT once every 6 months or so to have them clean out the wax in my ears, but that’s common if you wear hearing aids. Same with my boys and my husband (also who wear hearing aids).
🍪🍪 Colleen, why don't you just buy a toaster oven for your office to cook your 2-3 cookies at night?! It will come with its own mini cookie sheet and you won't have to clean Erik's crumbs off!!! It will be the easy bake oven of your dreams, really 😃🍪❤
I just have to say I absolutely looovveee Erik’s father what an intelligent man 😮😂 I could listen to him talk about stuff all day please get him on the podcast 🤣🙏🏻
OMG PLEASE DO A GAME WHERE YOU GUYS TRY TO GUESS THE FULL MEANING BEHIND ACRONYMS, like BCC in an email etc, like what does each letter stand for! Could be really fun ◡̈
Wetzels website says Wetzels Dogs were introduced in 1996. The first store was founded in 1994 in Cali, the second store opened in Hollywood in 1995 and then the third store was opened in Westfield Garden State Plaza (NJ) in 1996.
We NEEEED a segment with Erik’s dad as a guest like have him zoom or something. He is amazing. Love you all sm. I have so many things I wanna pick his brain about! So many questions , evolution, space, life , literally everything is interesting to hear him talk about! He is the all knowing yoda!
Let me just say, I love the quality of the camera you guys are using and the background is so funky and cute with the fun lighting. Makes my week when I see you guys have posted :)
My husband developed tinnitus last year and it’s been horrible and debilitating for him. I’m so glad you guys are helping to raise awareness so other people can protect their hearing!
The baking sheet situation... Erik.. I feel ya.. if there are a few crumbs, no big deal.. grease, on the other hand does need to be washed off but the way around this is to first put down foil that overhangs the sides and completely covers the cookie sheet, followed by a piece of parchment paper and generally, this will keep all offending grease off of the pan and you just wad the whole mess up and throw it away and put the cookie sheet up. Viola!
About the ringing in your ears that goes away: I have it, not often but I had it more than 5 times and I know exactly what you mean. Starts loud, high frequency, fades out, gone. My colleague told me once that this means that this exact frequency you are hearing is “dying” so you hear it for the last time. Could be completely wrong 😂 but every time I have it I go aaaawwww another one gone. And Tinnitus - a very different topic. I’ve had it stress related for around 1,5 months and it was horrible. Started with a deep drone sound, kind of like a vibration sound and even feeling, and after a month it switched to a high pitch sound which bothered me a lot less. Now it’s gone. I thought I was going insane.
@@shanzeyburki I think for me it was somehow stress related and it just slowly “faded” away. In the beginning I also had super sensitive hearing, like if a filter was missing. Everything was soooo loud so I wore earplugs a lot and I think grey noise helped. There are videos on TH-cam for tinnitus relief with some tricks that might help - didn’t help for me though! But give it a try! Good luck, I’m sure it will go away 🫶🏻
Could we all comment a random topic every week, then on the following episode you choose a topic, call Carrot’s dad, and find out how much he knows about it? That man is so smart but doesn’t sound arrogant-smart at all. He sounds so nice!
I know someone who has had Tinnitus for over 20 years. It gets worse when he’s stressed. He did work around large concert stages for a while too. For some it gets so bad that it drives them nuts. I wish there was a cure or a solution. Don’t worry, Erik. Anyway, I also wear jeans and bras a few times before washing them unless they get dirty/sweaty (obviously). I love Wetzel’s! Oh my gosh! Glad to see your podcast return!
Erik’s dad is just the absolute best human! He really knows everything. You should have a Stump the Stocklin segment where we try to figure out what he can’t answer 😂. Also, the green chairs are cute, but I really loved Erik’s big brown chair and your navy chair you had last week. They look so much more cozy :). Love you guys and the podcast!
Man oh man did I ever miss these podcasts, just loving these episodes you guys, they seriously brighten my weeks ontop of Colleen's vlogs its just so so nice to have my favorite people back 🖤
Oh man, this is a hilarious episode! The cookie sheet debate… “How much hair… I mean the place is lousy with razors!” … and I also said out loud that Carrot - I mean Erik- would be a terrier! 🤣
I am from CT. As soon as Eric starts talking about anything in my area, I am so thrown off. I have been to that mall. I have been to that Wretzels Pretzels, and I know exactly what he is talking about when he talks about Filenes and JC Penny. I can picture the area in my head. Surreal.
Hey Colleen!! I think the superpower you’d want is to be in two places at once. Then you could tour/ travel/ do broadway/ or just be creative alone in your office AND still be with your kiddos.
you guys really made me laugh this episode! love the bickering honestly hahah and the questions were too funny. love your chemistry, so nice to have the podcast back!
Colleen! You don't reuse TOWELS? I don't think I've ever been more shocked at something you've said. Ever. I mean, to each their own, but this shocks me.
Speaking of super powers, I think that Colleen would like teleportation or telekinesis. Teleportation because when she’s doing her tours, she can just pop from city to city without needing a tour bus and then no airport hassle. As well as if she forgets something at home. No problem, just teleport back. Telekinesis because if she sits down but forgets to grab her phone or food, etc., she simply brings it over with her mind. I personally would want teleportation. No more expensive planes tickets or waking up for early morning flights :)
The baking tray goes back unwashed if it’s just crumbs, but Colleen is right that even if you put something that leaks juices on foil, the juices still get onto the baking tray and bake on, then you need to wash, not put back dirty 🤢. I’m also a rarely wash the bra type girly. Not sure what my rationale is but for some reason my brain doesn’t think it gets dirty, kind of like not washing a belt (yep I know it’s touching skin). I love the parts of your podcast when you bicker about everyday things that annoy each other. It’s so relatable. LOVE THIS PODCAST! 💕💕💕💕💕💕
I work for Veterans Benefits Administration as a rater, tinnitus is one of the most commonly claimed issues with Veterans. Tinnitus can be caused by excessive noise exposure, however it can be intermittent due to things like infections in the ear. If you experience random ringing without any known cause, but it doesn’t last more than a few minutes you’re probably ok, likely due to virus or some sort of inflammation in your ear. If it is consistent, meaning continuous without a break for relief, over a long period of time, let’s say a weeks or longer, and you otherwise have no symptoms of illness, that’s when I would consider that persistant tinnitus, likely due to excessive exposure to loud noises, based on my experience as a rater that reviews dr notes daily. I hope that helps. I am not a dr but I work with drs daily that review Veterans with tinnitus.
colleen i think one super power you'd like is stopping/freezing time because you always think something will take 5 minutes to finish but it always takes up more, so freezing time will be like the perfect solution.
Omg! That would be the superpower I'd want! But I'd want ageing to freeze as well so that if I were to freeze time for like a whole day, that wouldn't slowly catch up with me and make me age quicker than everyone else who was frozen. And i'd want to be able to freeze/unfreeze specific people so that I wasn't always alone when frozen - yikes I've thought about this way too much lol
Love love love love you people.... y'all are my medicine right now... Hearing y'all voices is absolutely amazing......I literally wait for you to post and every episode comes out really really good. Love you guys a lot.❤️
I’ve had tinnitus for at least the last 13-14 years now. If I remember correctly it came right after I came back down from Mont Blanc, when my ears started to get used to the normal pressure again, I started having it. Went to the doctor to investigate and after and MRI they found that I have a conflict between to 2 neurons that produces the constant ringing. By now I don’t even hear it much anymore, it’s just there. It’s sometimes very loud when it is very silent. And it indeed intensifies after being in loud environments. But for me it is not tied to hearing loss luckily.
Erik, I would love to have your dad be there for me while I was growing up! You and Colleen have probably learnt more from him than a lot of people have. lol
I really like your set up. The lights, the green chairs and that wooden stool/table. I love it! Its giving cozy cottage core ❤. And I personally love your hat, both of you.
Colleen, what about teleportation? You can go to any beach in the world look for rocks but then still go home the same day. Or go to a Taylor Swift concert and not pay for a hotel because you can teleport home at the end of the night!
According to denim experts, you should only wash your jeans once or twice per year. Between washes you are supposed to spot clean unless you’re super sweaty and dirty.
Just here to vouch for Colleen’s being excused from P.E for theater! As a fellow Californian, it was a whole thing. Our teacher had to make an announcement at the beginning of each year telling people it’s not an easy out and basically drop out now if they want to pass 😂 he wasn’t wrong either!
Hi guys! Going back to the cookie sheet convo, it made me think about how Colleen is the ultimate chocolate chip cookie connoisseur. In the next episode you guys should rank the top 5 chocolate chip cookies you’ve had. I am also a huge cookie lover, so interested to hear what y’all have to say.
your “i learned to swim in a motel 6 swimming pool” is me!! my ex and i used to go to a taco bell that was next to my doctors office and every time we’d drive up i’d just aimlessly stare out the window and go “that’s my doctor” 😭 i didn’t realize i said it so many times until he randomly was like “i know, that’s the 15th time you’ve told me that”
43:51 oh. My. God. I have never heard anyone express this so perfectly. I'm always anxious when I'm trying to fall asleep because I'm scared I won't be able to fall asleep and if I don't fall asleep I'll get more anxious and then I won't be able to breathe and I'll die. A very irrational fear but causes me true anxiety- every. Single. Day.
I do the same thing that Erik does with baking sheets. If I cook meat on it. I WILL wash it but if I’m cooking a frozen pizza, garlic bread, etc. I just put it back in my oven
Colleen would want the super power to be everywhere all the time so she could see ALL the special moments with the kids! And I knew she bought too many kids clothes. LOL
Hey, I know most people keep their baking sheets in the bottom drawer under their oven/stove. That’s actually a warming drawer so you can put things down there to keep them warm after they’ve been cooked like rolls or pies or whatever! But at least all the food that Eric leaves on the baking sheets will still be warm if he wants to go back for seconds lol!
I live in CT and I would just love to meet Erik's dad and ask him 10000 random questions😂 I don't think I've ever heard someone so knowledgeable in so many different areas!
Basically everyone gets ringing in their ears. We always say that someone was talking about you but not in a bad way. My family always tease each other about it. You are perfectly fine I promise. ❤
I have multiple tinnitus problems, but just don't think about it. It's only while falling asleep or when I'm stressed that it acts up. I watch asmr falling asleep, that helps. Also, I miss the big armchair
First of all, I am obsessed with Erik’s dad and could listen to him talk forever! But also, I’m 31 years old and have had tinnitus first many many years. Probably since a teenager. I went to lots of small venue band shows as a teen and one in particular was EXTREMELY loud and I happened to be right next to the speaker. I’m guessing that’s where the tinnitus started. But I will say I only notice it when it’s dead silent. It rarely affects my quality of life. As long as I have a sound machine while I sleep I’m good. The only times it reeeeallly bothers me is if I’m in nature and trying to soak in something magnificent and the ringing ruins it. Maybe it’s worse for lots of other people but I wouldn’t be too afraid of it. Also I know exactly what you’re talking about with the random ringing because that happens to me too. I would love to know why that happens too.
I've had constant tinnitus since age 7 or 8. I remember asking my mom one night why my ears make noise. She looked very confused. I have no idea why I developed tinnitus. I didn’t have ear infections as a child, never a head or neck injury, no loud noises that I can remember. No clue. I really only notice the noise at night when it's quiet. Only a few times after an illness it's gotten louder but thank goodness it was only temporary.
Dance counted as PE and Elective in our school. Going up in southern Cali in the 80's and 90's we didn't have field days. At least the schools I was in didn't. I never heard of field day until I moved to the East Coast.
my dad has tinnitus! he has worked in construction for many many decades, and it’s really hard for him! however, i’m only 19 and have never been in prolonged extreme loud noises, and sometimes i get it! don’t worry, sometimes it just happens and some people say it means someone is talking about you. it’s an old myth. love you guys! 🩷
I want to see you guys talk about teaching acronyms. Im in my fourth year of college to become a special education teacher and I was kind blow. There are SO many. Look some of these up and try to guess them!!! FAPE, IEP, IDEA, ADHD, ADD, OCD, OT,PT, ADA,ELL,ENL, APE,ASD, BIP, CBA/CBM, CSE, EIS/EIP, ESL, IEPT, LRE, OHI, RTI, SEL. I also think all parents should know what each of these are before their kids go into schooling. If their child is going to receive services, have a disability or anything schools often use these acronyms and don’t explain to the families what they mean.
I think Colleen would appreciate the power to freeze time. She could just get everything she wants done in 'time' and not have to stress about it. No more being late either.
The ringing in the ears is also common with seasonal allergies. It's caused by the fluid moving inside your ears and can also cause you to feel lightheaded. It's called a eustachian tube dysfunction and can be treated with nasal steroids and allergy meds like Zyrtec and Allegra.
I died when Erik said Manor Texas as a resident of Manor Texas. lol I had no idea people who don’t live in Manor know about Manor (even people who live 20 minutes away in Austin don’t know Manor exists) 😂
my husband was in a fire and the “boom” in addition to burns was and still is an issue. He says “what” when there is silence. Then…He says I can’t hear him. I say, It’s really just me ignoring him. But honestly I worked for the airlines forever and was often outside with jet engines abundant. My husbands a doctor and he has given me a whole dissertation that I likely didn’t listen to or couldn’t hear😂😂😂 but it’s real. And that buzz and ring is annoying
When I was in HS in the Bay Area I trained in classical ballet 6 days a week and it took me over a YEAR for my school to accept it for PE credit. Your school sounds way more reasonable 😂
Please tell me that you saw Wikipedia attributed the pretzel dog to Erik “Stockland.” I fixed it to the correct spelling but sadly, today, it was gone. No matter. I saw it and can’t unsee it - the pretzel dog was Erik’s brainchild.
COLLEEN LISTEN I KNOW YOU WOULD WANT THIS SUPERPOWER!!! I’ve always said I would want teleportation. I’d never be late anywhere again!!!!!! no traveling required just snap your fingers and you teleport to your destination. Wanna go on vacation? Boom spend the day in italy, hawaii, bahamas, anywhere. It’s the best superpower EVER
I have random ringing in my ears, I thinking everyone does. I was always told ringing in your left ear means someone is talking bad about you, ringing in your right ear someone is talking good about you. Haha I actually watched an older podcast about you guys and the Q-tips last week. I can't do one in each ear at the same time Colleen! I am like Eric - use both sides one at a time.
About the ringing 👂 Here un Puerto Rico we have a say that when your ear rings is because someone is trash talking you and your body is letting you know 😂🤷🏻♀️ Silly, I know .
In the UK we say someone is talking about you if your ear is itching; if it’s your right ear it’s your mother talking about you and if it’s the left it’s your lover 😂

I have never ending tinnitus. I assume it is neurological dysfunction due to ME/CFS. Told my doctor. He didn't care. It's been going on for 10+.
As a hearing aid wearer I would say I have to go to the ENT once every 6 months or so to have them clean out the wax in my ears, but that’s common if you wear hearing aids. Same with my boys and my husband (also who wear hearing aids).
I have a question: what if my ears clog every once in a while and every time I go swimming it feels like I have water in my ears for DAYS
@@pdub707have you gone to an ENT or audiologist? I’d recommend it. It will hopefully give you clarity.
Loving the phone calls with Mr Stocklin. He’s so well spoken.
I just started listening but it makes me soooo happy to know Mr. Stocklin will be back in this episode!!!

Excited to listen to this on my drive to work tomorrow! I love you both so much!
43:51 oh. My.
I just put it back in my oven
we NEED erik back in his leather chair!! where did the big purple chair of yours go from a few episodes back? they give such a cozy vibe💜
Please can we have Erics dad on a guest at some point, and also he needs his own podcast ❤
Love you guys!!! Your podcast is literally my favorite thing to listen to while doing anything. You guys are too funny and sweet. Keep it up!
Colleen would want the super power to be everywhere all the time so she could see ALL the special moments with the kids! And I knew she bought too many kids clothes. LOL
Colleen, as an (almost, graduate soon) pharmacist, tinnitus is also a side effect of some medication, not always hearing issues.
LITERALLY just put a button bag in my “button jar”as you were saying this! And I’ve never had to use them, ever!
Also Colleen: baking sheets ≠ don’t need washed every time for sure lmao
I live in CT and I would just love to meet Erik's dad and ask him 10000 random questions😂 I don't think I've ever heard someone so knowledgeable in so many different areas!
Basically everyone gets ringing in their ears. We always say that someone was talking about you but not in a bad way. My family always tease each other about it. You are perfectly fine I promise. ❤
I love the ever-evolving podcast chairs 😆
I have multiple tinnitus problems, but just don't think about it. It's only while falling asleep or when I'm stressed that it acts up. I watch asmr falling asleep, that helps.
Also, I miss the big armchair
Hi Colleen! Ringing in the ear can be caused by stress or anxiety! But I agree- maybe check with the doctor just in case!
Kryptonite is something Superman likes. lol that’s is the most hilarious thing I’ve ever heard🤣
It would be great if Erik can give acting advice, monologues, agents, a small segment on the dos and don’ts of acting.🙏
When I was in HS in the Bay Area I trained in classical ballet 6 days a week and it took me over a YEAR for my school to accept it for PE credit. Your school sounds way more reasonable 😂
I love Erik in a baseball cap waaaaaay more than in a toque like last time.
Sorry Colleen, I’m with Erik on the baking sheet and towel thing 😂
Please tell me that you saw Wikipedia attributed the pretzel dog to Erik “Stockland.” I fixed it to the correct spelling but sadly, today, it was gone. No matter. I saw it and can’t unsee it - the pretzel dog was Erik’s brainchild.
Colleen! Super power- freeze time?? Everything could literally take only five minutes. Or less!
Suddenly is an adverb, a sudden is a noun
COLLEEN LISTEN I KNOW YOU WOULD WANT THIS SUPERPOWER!!! I’ve always said I would want teleportation. I’d never be late anywhere again!!!!!! no traveling required just snap your fingers and you teleport to your destination. Wanna go on vacation? Boom spend the day in italy, hawaii, bahamas, anywhere. It’s the best superpower EVER
best superpower: teleport 🙏
Eric and his dad has the exact same laugh
I love watching your TH-cam channel and I love watching podcasts.
Not Colleen doing the chicken dance when she guessed what type of dog Erik is correctly
Erik and the sleeping thing I can totally relate 😩🤦🏻♀️ I hate it so much !
