  • Is the MINI the BEST 16 inch Electric Unicycle on the Market?
    Higher voltage, more powerful motor, a larger battery, a full metal casing and a "Veteran like" suspension design; the Commander Mini has the spec line to be a contender for the best 16 inch suspension EUC on the market. But can it deliver on everything begode/ Extreme bull promises? This week, I ride and review the Commander Mini and see if it can give the Veteran Patton some real competition!!
    Episode 132- Begode Commander mini review

    Got mine this week from alienrides with the street tire and I am a 80/20 street to trails rider. As a high speed street rider, the conservative and polished approach to this wheel is the reason I went with it. Very satisfied with my choice. The suspension is solid and for a street wheel, it is amazing

    I got a patton and am very happy with it. but this looks like a sick wheel too, and no doubt a firmware update will let it tap more low end torque. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these options, boils down more to personal preference. Really interested to see you and the other reviewers get your hands on the extreme.

    I am about to get my first EUC, I have decided on the Begode Extreme from E-Wheels! Used the link!

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Now, order a lighter wheel to learn on and put the Extreme in the closet for a few months while you abuse, drop, scrape and grow on a more appropriate learning wheel.
      The worst thing about reviews of advanced wheels is that they don’t tell you (every fucking time) that these wheels are difficult to learn on and will hurt severely after you fall and it hits your Achilles’ tendon. Everyone gets injured multiple times while learning, and learning on a heavy/powerful wheel is statistically a bad decision.
      The 16x or V12ht are intermediate level wheels that are good learning machines. The bonus is that you’ll always have a spare wheel to loan to friends or use while repairing your other wheels.
      Almost everyone who has an advanced wheel also has several intermediate wheels that they are unlikely to dispose of unless upgrading their fleet to more nuanced uses.
      Getting the latest/greatest wheel (as your first) is almost always regretted by the consumer. Ask your local riders group for advice, those honest with themselves will agree… those who support high performance wheels being used as learning platforms are less trustworthy, which you can discover for yourself.
      I have multiple top quality mountain bikes that I would never even consider loaning to a friend who is less experienced, not because I care about the bikes but because I wouldn’t screw over a friend whose only mistake is naivety. This is true for every skilled sports equipment that I have ever experienced, and it’s even more so for EUCs. A good used mTen3, v10f or 14d can be found for under $1k (if patient).
      If I were CEO of one of these EUC companies, I’d limit the speed, power, and number of falls/day allotted through algorithmic restrictions that would lock out usage until the rider was skilled enough to make better decisions for themselves. Until then, I recommend full gear and learning on grass or Astroturf, not only for your physical health but also so you can resell the wheel when the next irresistible option comes to the market. Take all the hype with a grain of salt and listen to those people who don’t have a financial interest in selling you an inappropriate option.
      Please consider that Reviewers, Entertainers, Resellers and Manufacturers are NOT your friends… treat their advice with suspicion until proven otherwise.
      There are several good videos by honest people who have made this same mistake and almost all who have posted would have made different decisions after experiencing the trauma, pain and loss of wheel-value of having learned on an inappropriately advanced EUC.
      Almost no one regrets learning to ride after the initial learning process, so if you don’t permanently injure yourself, welcome to the club.

      What a wonderful, thoughtful reply. I live in a place in West Virginia....our population is less than 1000, so finding a used wheel nearby is a no go....I have already tried. I weight about 265-270 and I am 6'1-ish and athletic.....I was afraid that the cheaper wheels wouldn't be able to move me around. The Begode T4 is rated for 300 pounds and the InMotion V12HT only 265. I am afraid of the wheels not having enough power to get me out of danger if needed. Sadly my budget doesn't allow me to buy multiple wheels, I suppose I could learn on a cheaper wheel and then sell to someone local so I could make a riding buddy. Community, should I get the Begode T4 or the InMotion v12? I REALLY APPRECIATE THE THOROUGH RESPONSE!@@grb1969

    • @oueuc2
      @oueuc2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I second this. I started with V12Ht, and My God, the pain!
      I could only ride/practice weekends, cause after that, my legs were too sore, beat up (solid bruises from knee down), and tired from the weekends.
      After 3 weeks I got a used Ninebot A1 for $250 on ebay. 25lbs. Rode it 1 day, and could automatically ride my V12 after that. After 4 weeks, I finally took it on the road, paved, and dirt. Rode for 10 miles that day!
      I wish I got the Ninebot to learn on first.
      But I'm 50 years old too, short, and with bad knees.
      I also got the euc world app. My V12 sounds like a Fatboy Harley, lol

    If you've ridden both feel free to reply! I'm not in to high speed and prefer torque (brakeability), build quality, and manuverabilty. I have a 16x and although I love it I want to be able to stop faster on these NYC streets and have the suspension to deal with the rough roads.

      Knee braces are superior to pads in that they help prevent ACL injuries, which is caused by unrestrained twisting on the knee joints. The price is the reason why most people don’t use braces but they are worthwhile if you can afford them. I have both types and prefer the Leatt Dual-Axis when riding casually but use my Asterisk braces when appropriate.

Willing to pay $8-$10k for such a wheel, as will tens-of-thousands of others who will beat a path to buy one. Such a wheel will increase EUC market-size ten-fold. Remember what moving up to 100lb wheel did to market-size? Few anticipated that growth either.

      With the current designs, all wheels are unstable over 45-50 mph and require high skill levels to even approach these speeds. Better technology is needed to safely ride over 55mph, mainly due to the gyroscopic forces of the motor. An 150mph wheel is possible with current technology but the scale of the market will not yet support the cost.
      I believe that within 10 years we should see a 100+ mph wheel that is safer than today’s equipment. The eventual market for EUCs will exceed that of cars and bicycles combined and should only be exceeded by the market for clothing, food or shelter, which is why I take the request for an 150mph wheel seriously… that said, wheels that safely travel in excess of 180mph are unlikely to be seen as mass-market consumables for the foreseeable future, even though theoretically possible.
      The EUC has the potential to outperform all other vehicles currently available but they will have to radically advance the design for this to become realized. I’d have to do some major calculations but today’s tech could safely reach 70mph if (and only if) the total weight were reduced by half and the power was doubled. This is the reason why manufacturers are now focused on bringing smaller high-performance wheels to market… but it’ll probably be a long/slow evolution to get to 70mph. A radical design revolution is necessary to exceed the current limits. {I’ve described this tech elsewhere but I estimate that costs will triple for a doubling of speed at similar safety margins… so it’s still much cheaper than a comparable preforming automobile, and therefore viable.}
      FYI, the data collected from usage indicates that the current average speed of EUCs is 17mph… so the market has a long way to go before finally making cars and motorcycles obsolete, which is eventually inevitable, imho.

    great video! this wheel is completely useless in my opinion. got a few hundred dollars more to spend? get the patton or extreme as both have better battery safety, build quality, and performance. don't have the extra money? the t4 would save you a bunch of money while being just as good and the s19 has better battery safety and build quality than this wheel for the same price so i don't see a reason to get it

    • @updlate4756
      @updlate4756 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patton is $800 (35%) more from eWheels and $900 (40%) more from eevees versus the Mini's EUCDeals price, although that is with the regular store warranty versus the do-it-yourself parts warranty. Begode Extreme is the same price, but it seems to be meant more as an offroad wheel and there are some complaints about the traction of its tire on street. It's also the difference between a rear mounted air shock and a side mounted oil shock. We'll see how they compare once the reviews are all in.

    • @updlate4756
      @updlate4756 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patton's battery is also 180 Wh smaller. Both wheels are different enough where I think the buyer can weigh the pros and cons of each.
