I’m 52 and got this wheel about a month ago. Took it to a trip to Chicago and it zipped me all around the city and suburbs. I don’t push the speed too much because I frankly just need to keep getting more confident and stronger in my skills. I live in the mountains of NC and this thing takes me everywhere I want to go with ease. Steep hills, trails, almost anywhere. My biggest challenge is mount and dismount. I’m not horrible at it, but I’m not super graceful either. Anyway, for me, it’s a great wheel. Super portable and more capable than I am.
52 huh? When did you start riding? I really want to give it a try and I'm 51 heading toward 52 myself. Are you a former skateboarder or anything like that which would have made it easier for you? I would just hate to put $1000 on a wheel and then end up selling it because it just too hard or too frustrating. Thanks for any feedback you may have.
@@MichaelHollandOne My kids got two Inmotion V5Fs about five years ago. So I learned to ride some with them. I will say it seems really difficult until all of a sudden I understood what to do. There is much better info online these days. I’m not a super confident rider. I don’t take risks like I would back in the day. They are fun but a learning curve is going to have to be overcome. I agree. It’s a lot to spend for a happiness risk. I haven’t ridden in about 3 years, but it came back pretty quick. This wheel is a little different than bigger ones. But not in a bad way. It’s much easier to ride slow in heavily crowded areas.
I love my mten4 i have it hooked up with a pmt street tire, spiked pedals, russian cushion pads and a God mod for safety. I ride my mten 4 everyday around the bronx. I bought the MTen4 when it was released and ride it every day! I also own the ShermanS, Apollo Phantom, and Roadrunner Pro but the one I ride the most is the Mten!
Love the mten4. You describe many great reasons everyone should have a mini wheel! The 40T cell is rated 35a discharge vs 9.8a on the 50E. I have the 300wh, got it as my first wheel early this year. Was riding to/from work around 15mi round trip 5 days a week. The 300wh has a really hard time doing the 25mph that it says that it will. I have mine set to tiltback at 19mph and I'd ride the tiltback the entire 7mi. Thing bassically lives in my trunk of my car now so whenever I have to drive I always have a wheel with me. If I'm somewhere why drive across the street or down the block to the next stop. It's perfect for that so I would recommend it to a rider who has anxiety when away from their wheel. That being said I rode it to work 6+ months, its got 1600mi on the clock, it's a capable wheel. I ride a mini bull to work now and it's great.

When I bought mine I weighed 240+ and it still could get up to 20mph and even with the 300t I can get up to speeds and I could get 17mpc out of it. Probably more but I try not to push it. 69 years old, 6'5", 215 lbs and I walk my dog with my mten3. Biggest problem is the tire that is rated for 155lbs. The wheel seems to bear up just fine. 750 miles on it and on 2nd tire.
i think the weak point for the mten3 (same for the mten4 also) is the axle, I have heard multiple instances of people bending them, usually from jumping down curbs but the tire is probably fine.
@@QSpeedRacer what I have found is the leash becomes another point of balance. All depends on how heavy your dog is and how aggressively it pulls. My dog is 75 pounds and I'm 220. I can control him pretty easily usually. When he loses it I stop the wheel and step off.
I had Mten3 and used to mount by grounding the bottom pedal with my foot on it then stepping on with other foot. It may not be pretty but it worked. I’m 76 and a “scooter-head”. My fav scooter in my collection, is the OG DT Storm. I bought that machine because I live 2 flights of stairs UP, and after removing the battery AND using a, REALLY cool SLING, I can, gruntingly, transport it. I’m thinking of going to an EUC because my stairs STEPS are spaced very close together. I’m thinking I can push the wheel, up these stairs. I’m thinking that the KS S16 will fit the bill, as a “grocery-getter”. For crazy fun, I’ll use the STORM. Thoughts?😊
you can push a wheel up stairs but you need a grippy tire (offroad) and a grippy stair surface (wood bad) its easier with larger diameter wheels 18 inch + and you probably won't be able to do it with th s16, but then again that wheel is light so you can simply carry it up probably.
If they just add telescopic or foldable powerPads to extend the height on demand, that will be a game changer and we can make smaller more powerful EUCs that we can continue to carry in a backpack and take it out whenever we want to ride. Or maybe someone can just 3D print one to add to this MTen4.
Not having ridden any other EUCs, I purchased the MTEN4. I ride Onewheels proficiently, and skateboards awkwardly. Mounting the MTEN4 is the hardest part. Once you're up and running, the wobbles will get you, but you learn where they happen. When comparing the amount of mileage ridden and proficiency between the MTEN4 and the Onewheel, they're pretty much on par. The MTEN4 may need a little more time (miles) to learn. The skateboard, on the other hand is in a league of it's own, as far as time needed on the board before becoming proficient.
I've always been interested in EUCs but a little fearful jumping on one. but this size looks a lot more approachable and less intimidating. I would definitely try this size EUC.
@@matthewearl9824 this comment seems strange to me. I learned to ride with the mten3 before ever setting foot on a much larger wheel. You learn so much from ride a small agile wheel. Larger may be stable once you get going but it is much heavier, bulkier and slower to control.
@@georgieman1910 you DO get better learning on a smaller wheel but it is not easier to LEARN on. Getting up and going straight is easier on a larger wheel. Now turning my be a different story. All my students could not start on the mcm5 or mtwn but could start on the v12

Begode should consider keeping the same battery capacity, upgrading to 134V, and suspension in the next version Mten. The current model is marketed with a top speed of 28 MPH. With speed correction it will cutout at GPS 25 MPH. To ensure optimal performance and safety, it’s best to maintain speeds below 22 MPH with the speed correction.
well, they'll have to do 100v first! I doubt they'll put a 134v since the component cost for higher voltage will likely push the price up and being relatively cheap is a huge plus for this wheel. But at higher speed it is pretty sketchy cuz of its tiny wheel so I am not sure how practical a 134v mten5 would be!
There are better wheels out there if you want high speeds. I think it's better to stay at lower speeds or only use it if you are very light. I for one is happy that we get a newish wheel that is not large and top speed focused.
For ones who already tried both: Mten4 or KS14D? same price here, in Brazil, im going to use mainly to go for my job that is like 10km away from my home... mten4 has better specs, but 14D has bigger wheels, so i dont know
hey Hsiang, what do u think of the DIY mod that puts most of an EUC wheel (motor, battery, Controller) in a backpackable form factor. i think they should be the Future❗️
Good vid 👍 Small wheels wont be more practical weight wise (backpackish) until the next evolution in power cells, 5 to 10 yrs IMHO. I was a big cartoon fan and sorry I missed out on the Spiral Zone!!. Cheers
with a tiny little wheel the wider surface and deeper groove on the knobby slightly improve stability and cushions I think, but then again I usually lean knobby so..
Ive been curious about this thing for a long while but everyone's opinions on it are so polarized and I still have a bit of unease when it comes to gotway

i'm a super tall 285 lb athlete with a master pro as his main ride but i tried this wheel out at a pev shop. surprisingly it could even hold me but my feet absolutely engulf the thing, i could barely ride haha
One downside is that it is very easy to overlean. Because of that I ride it only in hard mode. From my perspective it can do 30kmh with quite decent safety margin, 35kmh is max i would recommend.
For city riding, I'd rather have one of the smallest & more practical wheels like this than one of the largest & heaviest tombstones 😆. They should add a detractable suitcase handle.
IMHO too inherently unstable for real city travel (wobble, cut out danger) for this risk averse person. (No amount of armor will save you if you become a speed bump for a car.) Still, always enjoy Hsiang's content, even when not particularly inspired by the product of the day. I'd also personally rather power-roll a compact wheel than routinely heft a micro one. Believe IM V-14 and LK Lynx (yes, more expensive) are in the evolutionary size/ weight sweet spot for most versatile, practical daily.
its dangerous to ride on such tiny wheel size. Dont risk broken ankle like Marty, some bigger hole or curb and You can fall - choose bigger, muuuuch more steady and safer wheel.
@@roccatagon no that would just bump you or jostle you off at best. It’s like suddenly going off a curb and then bouncing back up again. I have done that many times and I mostly regain my footing and balance. You still have a good chance because the wheel remains upright and balanced. With Marty, it was a sudden loss of power and the wheel just went limp. Not the same thing.
As an experienced rider of Inmotion and Leaper Kim unicycles, I was deeply disappointed with the Begode Mten4. The overall craftsmanship and design are a letdown-essentially, it’s just two metal plates clumsily put together, lacking any sense of design. The edges are rough and can easily catch and injure your hands. Additionally, the transparent cover arrived with permanent, glue-like stains that necessitated a complicated replacement involving disassembly. Regrettably, Begode does not acknowledge these issues as defects and refuses refunds. I strongly discourage purchasing this model due to its inferior quality and poor customer service.

@Hsiang Any possibility for A2 assassin review? Just wondering what would be your opinion on it.
awesome bro, mten4 learnt me to go backwards🤙
Best combo.. mten4 and onewheel gt got almost the same speed and range 😇.
We have a lot of fun 😁😇
Trail trail trail
Not having ridden any other EUCs, I purchased the MTEN4. I ride Onewheels proficiently, and skateboards awkwardly. Mounting the MTEN4 is the hardest part. Once you're up and running, the wobbles will get you, but you learn where they happen. When comparing the amount of mileage ridden and proficiency between the MTEN4 and the Onewheel, they're pretty much on par. The MTEN4 may need a little more time (miles) to learn. The skateboard, on the other hand is in a league of it's own, as far as time needed on the board before becoming proficient.
*ZONE RIDAAAAAAAAA*
Love your stuff mate. But honestly, you are usually cutting edge. Why aren’t they sending you v14’s and Lynx’s to review??
I've always been interested in EUCs but a little fearful jumping on one. but this size looks a lot more approachable and less intimidating. I would definitely try this size EUC.
these smaller wheels are harder to ride. Would bebetter for you to start on a 16 inch wheel.
@@matthewearl9824 this comment seems strange to me. I learned to ride with the mten3 before ever setting foot on a much larger wheel. You learn so much from ride a small agile wheel. Larger may be stable once you get going but it is much heavier, bulkier and slower to control.
The best wheel to learn on now is probably the BEGODE A2
@@georgieman1910 you DO get better learning on a smaller wheel but it is not easier to LEARN on. Getting up and going straight is easier on a larger wheel. Now turning my be a different story. All my students could not start on the mcm5 or mtwn but could start on the v12
@@matthewearl9824 exact opposite for me. Maybe I’m an anomaly or something. Or a quicker learner. The lightweight is a huge plus toward learning technique, imho.
@@OWGACI totally agree. A 100v mten4 would be great!
There are better wheels out there if you want high speeds. I think it's better to stay at lower speeds or only use it if you are very light. I for one is happy that we get a newish wheel that is not large and top speed focused.
@@PhiqtionalThere’s modded Mten4’s running 100V with Freestyler custom firmware.
The last time he released a video of this late about a will that had been out already for over a year they were releasing a new iteration
I wonder if a telescoping bit could be added for knees or even a seat
I just ate absolute shit on my a2 from going 28mph.. I caught it in 4k 😞
So Cute! I Love It!
This is the way
For ones who already tried both: Mten4 or KS14D? same price here, in Brazil, im going to use mainly to go for my job that is like 10km away from my home... mten4 has better specs, but 14D has bigger wheels, so i dont know
It's a little wobbler but i like it.
Just got an a2
Halfway through this video, I realized that the tire on the M ten 4 is the same diameter as the tires on my Dualtron Ultra 2.
Ultra curious what mic this guy uses to get such clear audio while riding and outside
hey Hsiang, what do u think of the DIY mod that puts most of an EUC wheel (motor, battery, Controller) in a backpackable form factor. i think they should be the Future❗️
Does your IPS I5 still work?
I've been sporting the A2 - the extra height makes it perfect for me cause I'm short. I need an mten4 mini so I can really be walking anywhere
Good vid 👍
Small wheels wont be more practical weight wise (backpackish) until the next evolution in power cells, 5 to 10 yrs IMHO.
I was a big cartoon fan and sorry I missed out on the Spiral Zone!!.
Cheers
It doesn't go 25 mph. It goes about 18 or maybe 19. That when it starts to beep. If you try to go 25 mph there's a possibility of cutting out.
Looks much better riding it than those huge wheels.
R u not getting a v14?
Mten4 is genius!
this baby makes begode extreme look like a giant lol
Wouldn't it be better with a street tire than the nobby?
with a tiny little wheel the wider surface and deeper groove on the knobby slightly improve stability and cushions I think, but then again I usually lean knobby so..
Ive been curious about this thing for a long while but everyone's opinions on it are so polarized and I still have a bit of unease when it comes to gotway
I have a love hate relationship with my mten4 after a over power cut out that left me disfigured for life with a broken collarbone with no beeps or warning ⚠️ so be careful guys was at 18mph but at a easy slow pace you can have fun but I’m surprised it hasn’t killed anyone yet lol
Do you know why it cut out? What is your weight and what was battery level?
Clavicle fractures normally heal fine. If there is a problem you can get surgery to fix it.
@@darkstar4494 yer overpowed at 50% battery im about 75kg rider i learnt the hard way but no beeps tilt bk engaged slightle n i pulled back when i felt it n then boom just slamed me to ground and yer they do i geuss its way better than befor just got my collorbone stick
ing out like nate diaz now lmaio
@@electriceheads369 as long as your shoulder feels ok it could be worse. that sucks though.
that’s definitely pushing it but it should have beeped first.
maybe you owwrpowered it too suddenly.
So cute
I would recommend instead this an mcm5 v2 800wh, its much safer, and still compact
i'm a super tall 285 lb athlete with a master pro as his main ride but i tried this wheel out at a pev shop. surprisingly it could even hold me but my feet absolutely engulf the thing, i could barely ride haha
One downside is that it is very easy to overlean. Because of that I ride it only in hard mode. From my perspective it can do 30kmh with quite decent safety margin, 35kmh is max i would recommend.
Hard mode makes it more likely to cut out.
@@turbolevo8703 Yes
i believe eucs are given to us by other people.... indeed i believe all euc manufactures are like the avengers garage..... xD and the same company
If it had suspension...
.. it would be over engineered and too heavy
Is it just me or is that MTen4 shaking like a drug addict in DT?
its dangerous to ride on such tiny wheel size.
Dont risk broken ankle like Marty, some bigger hole or curb and You can fall - choose bigger, muuuuch more steady and safer wheel.
Small wheels are less stable, but the size wasn’t the reason Marty broke his ankle.
Uh no, Marty's A2 cut out because a cable inside probably popped loose.
@@georgieman1910 yep, but similiar effect will be if you fall on curb/hole, and big unstability of tiny wheels makes it dangerous to ride.
Not waterproofed. That instant disqualification as a daily commuter.
MTen4 ussualy cut off
