Psychologically, you will do more to avoid losing something you have than to gain something you don't. The real question one should ask, if they're interested in a better life is: Which motivator will take me where I want to go? PS - There are totally kick ass ways to leverage both fear and hunger in the pursuit of what you want. But, you have to mind-bend a little bit, and put yourself in a position you're not currently in, to see what you don't currently have, and imagine losing that. Then, you come back to where you are, to see what you don't have, and hunger after it. Hope that makes sense.
+Jacob Tran lol it's here that the lion/gazelle analogy kind of loses its impact - not necessarily a bad thing. ET puts a lot of emphasis on forward movement. The bottom line of his lion/gazelle thing is, "when the sun comes up, you'd best be running." For many, that's the most powerful message because they spend most of their time stagnant. He knows his ideal client and he preaches that gospel. But, once you get moving and are in the HABIT of moving either out of fear or hunger, you want to take a step back and say, "Okay. A lion runs out of hunger. A gazelle runs out of fear. But humans are the supreme being on the planet because we can override our instinct and run for whatever reason we choose." That's the point at which you elevate and can then look back and start rewriting why you were stagnant in the first place. Do that, and you'll make the rest of your trip a whole lot quicker. The energy, the passion, as well as the wisdom....through his words/presentation one feels that he's genuinely trying to reach out, grab/shake you and pull you up. Look at the audiences demeanor at the beginning. Looking down at their distraction. Then look at the end. Every one of them was touched by this man. They were not prepared. Neither was I.

Why should they raise their voices & say it like they mean it....? They're doing pretty good now. Dr. Thomas, it is time to enter the city..... to speak with this heart felt passion, a message to our fellow Americans in the city..... in all our cities.... to rescue our downtrodden, our hopeless, our innocent & oppressed by their own, our despicably angry, our criminals, our haters of America.... to reach through their hard, negative barrier with the word, this powerful, hopeful & honest message & lead them off drugs/alcohol & evil behavior & to pick themselves up to earn their piece of the American dream, starting with 1 job. Dr. Thomas, it's going to be harder, but it is time to call on our nations leaders, starting at the top to create the jobs, the training programs the logistics of transportation, you & other dynamic leaders like you, need to start pulling (or pushing) them together for our people, to help them to help themselves. You, Dr. Davis, can do this now, this year. We must spread this truth of opportunity & achievability of the good life for them & their loved ones, that if they believe it & work it, one day, one job at a time, they WILL achieve it. Imagine the day, in all our cities, when > 75% of our babies are born in dual parent homes, raised by parentS who care for them & teach them positive, conservative, values & confidence in themselves.... So many will have their own businesses, creating good jobs. imagine the crime rate being >75% less than it is now.... imagine > 40% of those on welfare getting off it & becoming taxpayers, homeowners & leaders in their suburban communities! It starts with you & other city leaders coming together to inspire their people to greatness. It will be harder, but I believe you can do this Dr. Thomas & the time is NOW!! The difference between a gazelle and a lion is that a gazelle is motivated by FEAR, and the lion is motivated by HUNGER.
