Getting a vid out this quickly is one thing, but to do it with such great visuals (including the slowmo captures) and clear and concise explanations is pretty amazing. I don't think most people realize how long even basic editing normally takes so this is seriously professional level expertise being demonstrated on multiple fronts here.
Basic biomechanics of the injury: posterior directed (ground reaction) force on the proximal tibia subjects the PCL to a tensile load, which can injure the tissue ranging from a mild sprain to a tear. What I like that Dr. Sutterer does in many of these videos is explain the function of a structure (i.e., ligament, etc.) and how certain loads (tensile, torsional, etc.) can overcome the structural integrity of that tissue, leading to injury. In this case, understanding the function of the PCL at the knee can help one understand why a posteriorly-directed force to the proximal tibia can result in injury to the ligament (as often happens when the proximal tibia slams against the lower dashboard in a car crash).
It was confirmed IN GAME lol… David Lombardi tweeted it WAY before this video. Just another worthless doctor who wasted too much money on wanting to hang out with the big guys.

PCL injuries not uncommon among soccer goalies as well. They often land directly on their shins with the knees bent 90 degrees while making a save. The PCL is a bigger, thicker ligament than the ACL, so let's hope CMC only has a bone bruise or no more than a 1st degree sprain.
Would like to know best/mid-case scenario for injuries in the future doc. Would a low-grade sprain allow him to return this season? Love what you do here! Thanks!
@@Ndub1036There are 5 games… Why would he put him back in? Especially when he has a healthy and effective backup? Let’s use our brain here bud. Shame on those who do not wear em’. It may have not made a difference in the way he landed on the knee, but it only could’ve helped and maybe prevented this injury.
Niners fans and others thought the Panthers lost their minds when trading McCaffrey . THIS is exactly why he was traded - not because the Panthers were dumb or desperate . But because , as spectacular he is when healthy , he was injured at least 50% of the time he was a Panther . I like CMC a lot but I was calling for the Panthers to trade him a year earlier than he was so we could get something for him until he inevitably gets an injury he can’t recover from . Very fortunately the Niners threw a boatload of draft picks at us and no sane person who really knows CMC’s injury history could pass on that . All us Panther fans have been surprised that CMC has been healthy so far at SF . Looks like those days are over now . Thanks for the great draft picks !!!
