Summary:
My recommendation is to save your money and go with the entry-level Peloton Bike, but let's go over the Bike Plus' four unique features that cost an extra $600.
Four Bike Plus Improvements
#1 - Screen
The Bike+ has a slightly bigger screen, but the main difference is that the screen can rotate 360 degrees and it tilts up and down. Why's this important? If you want to do non-biking workouts like pilates, core, strength, or yoga, you can position the screen to align with your workout mat.
Alternative: Cast workouts from your Peloton Bike (or phone) to your TV.
#2 - Speakers
The Bike+ speakers provide better sound and more bass. The sound quality is an improvement partially because the speaker faces you, rather than away from you. The Bike speakers sound more like a tablet than a real speaker.
Alternative: Buy a $100 Bluetooth speaker, then sync it to your bike via Bluetooth to improve the Bike’s sound.
#3 - Apple Watch Integration
Hold your Apple Watch near the top of the Peloton Bike+ screen, then your watch automatically starts workout mode. Your heart rate is shown on the Peloton screen, which is helpful for power zone rides.
Alternative: If Apple Watch users want their workout log, manually log the ride as an "Indoor Cycle" exercise. And if you want your heart rate to appear on the screen, buy a Bluetooth heart rate monitor or download the BlueHeart Apple Watch app.
#4 - Auto Follow
Bike+ can automatically adjust the resistance (how hard it is to peddle) based on the resistance number on the screen. It's a cool feature, but not always useful because the screen number doesn't always match what the instructor says.
Alternative: Turn the resistance knob yourself. I prefer manual control anyway.

Love this honest straightforward unbiased review. I just bought one yesterday and as techy and handy as I am, I couldn’t justify buying the the bike plus. My brother owns the bike plus and he convinced me to buy one but he even said if he could buy again, he would just go with the basic version

I just purchased the Bike+ the auto follow mode is worth the extra money for me by itself.

This video was really helpful, and so was the code, thank you! I was undecided between the two, but ultimately went with the original. The Bike+ is taking 6-8 weeks to ship but I was able to schedule delivery for the original Bike within 1-3 weeks.

Do you find the bike plus screen shakes while you r riding at a higher cadence and off the saddle? Some people say the older bike doesn't have that problem. I ordered the regular one because of that issue. Waiting for it to arrive.
In my area the plus gets delivered the same amount of time, 2 weeks.
I was set on getting the Bike plus but I just saw the recent price drop on the original bike. In your opinion is it a no brainer to get the og bike?
The main advantage for me with the Bike+ would be the auto calibration.
I didn't focus on this aspect nearly enough in this video. And if I had to redo it, two years later, I'd break this down further. Regular Bike easily becomes uncalibrated and it's tough to know what your true score is.
Auto follow is brilliant. Takes all the thought out of the ride. Defo better
@@power_moves I went right for the plus. As I wanted the better speakers and the Apple Watch integration. The swivel is great for doing other exercises. Plus I wanted to figure proof it. For me it was worth the extra
It's only $600 more because they've dropped the price on the old bike! If you're buying in 2021 you need the Bike+, they'll phase out the original bike at some point.
@@power_moves Yeah I'm just going with the feedback a lot of the original Bike owners have, kinda like iPhones or Teslas, at some point you don't get the latest features. I love the auto-follow, and the much more accurate power readings which are important to me!

I agree with everything that was said in this video. I have a regular Peloton Bike, not the bike +, and feel the extra bells and whistles that the Bike + provides is not worth the additional $600. Though some may disagree.

Is there a difference in the size of each? I need to crate one but I don't know which model it is yet. I only need the height at the tube where the handlebar adjustment post goes into and the width and length of the base at it's furthest points. I can't measure the one I need to ship because I don't know who the customer is yet. I need to quote the job. Thank you.
@@power_moves - thanks but those aren't the specs I need. I'm not sure what "footprint" means exactly, but I need the exact width and length at the base and height at the top of the sleeve where the adjustable bar fits in.

You can pedal to a blank screen if you want and the resistance will still work. But there must be much more affordable options than that!

How is it lazy when you doing what a lot of ppl chose not to do? Workout! You have to pay extra for a tv. Some ppl don’t like the down time to cast.
