During the needle insertion, the AP and the ipsilateral oblique view is undoubtedly the primary guiding image for leading the needle direction.
But I can choose a different guiding image for judging the needle depth, lateral or contralateral oblique image.
The contralateral oblique image is faster and more precise.

Is your contralateral oblique angle usually 45-50 degrees for lumbar transforaminal cases?

Usually the angle is about 15-20 degrees. but there is some individual variations.
