@@ronfernandes2884 Hello Ron, I think I have similar problem. Could you listen and tell me if the noise was similar to yours? here is my video : streamable.com/046zpj
@@burakonthebike2799 Yes this is the exact sound - Your bike sounds worse than my bike - Pretty simple to fix - do not ride it on a long trip because the parts can breakoff and fall into the sump which may be harder to remove - For additional questions about replacement please do not hesitate to message me. I opened the tappet cover several time before realizing that the plunger was not in the correct orientation _ I compared it to another video of someone adjusting the valve clearance.
I realise this is a fairly old video, but do you remember if you also had performance issues issues at the time? Appearing like the engine misfiring. Revs going up/down whilst just idling?
I'm shocked the tensioner broke. Have you heard of others breaking? There are NC owners with very high mileage and they haven't reported having this happen.
yes you’re right - even I wasn’t convinced that it was a broken tensioner at first. I’m guessing it may have been me riding it hard.

@@ronfernandes2884Mine broke around 14800 kilometers (~9200 miles). It didn't break exactly like this, but a little tab broke at the bottom which allowed the tensioner to move and the chain ran sideways on it. Visually it looks like it's made from the same metal/alloy. Expensive repair and this shouldn't happen at all. Disappointed in Honda to be honest.
No this is in Canada. and since this happened during covid and the dealership had no stock with a long lead time i got it off ebay(US) normally cost under CAD$100 - Paid just over with the shipping.
Seems like a very bad design by Honda. For most motorcycles, the cam chain tensioner is EXTERNAL and can be replaced quite easily. This one is INTERNAL to the engine and is a shockingly bad design. Honda should pony up and pay for these cam chain tensioner replacements as it appears to be a metallurgy issue.
So true. The screw under the thermostat cannot be removed so you would need a slim wrench to get at it until you back off the threads holding the tensioner.
What a guy! Completed most of this job one handed ❤
Thanks for the video. It’s very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Good video and instruction
perfect.I need that chain tensioner. I'm from Peru and they don't sell them here.
If you find a good welder he can weld it for you - you can also source it from eBay
Webike...yo lo compre por $100 usd envío incluído...tardo 5 días en llegar a México
Great help. Thanks
Hi, thank you for the video. It not necessary to remove the thermostat housing as the manual says?
Very well explained video, wish all videos were so detailed. Thanks for doing this.
did you have to secure the timing chain somehow to remove the tensioner? if you remove it to replace it won't it mess up the timing with loose chain??
@@arturkryspinus3234 no need to do that
Perfect 👌 thank you for video
Do you have a video or sound of how it used to sound before you replace it?
I did not record that- I wish I did however.

How did you diagnose the problem? How did you know that it was chain tensioner?

sorry for the late reply - yes it was inconsistently firing when idling.
Do you know if a 2014 nc750x motor would fit In a 2012 nc700x?
I’m inclined to believe it’s the same because theses bikes are not like cars where they change all the hardware in the engine.
Did the knocking sound stop
@@wesleypipelayer7627 before I replaced the chain the noise would disappear at idle and higher than 3000 - after I replaced the chain it became normal

Hi.
What was the sign that the dreamer was broken?
Yes the rattle was felt between 700~1500rpm - and quite easy to inspect once you open the valve cover.
Hi, how old is your bike, and how many kilometers did your nc run ?
The Bike is a 2014 Honda NC750X and it had 25000km when I purchased it used. now it has aprox 40,000km.
Hola, porque sucede esto? . Tenemos un NC 750X 2020 CON 16.000 KM
It took over 3 months to realice why the motorcycle vibrated,i took it to diferent mecanics til the honda dealer chanche the piece.
