- I WAS TIRED OF THE OLD STIFF CABLE STEERING SO I BOUGHT A HYDRAULIC STEERING SYSTEM FROM VEVOR. IT WAS A BIG JOB BUT WENT WELL AND WAS SATISFYING TO DO MYSELF.

This video is worth every minute. Thank you for being so thorough!!
I appreciate that. I was worried that it was too drawn out.
Now thats how a video should be. I am going to order the kit in the next few days. Tired of fighting the cable stiffness. Thank you sir.
Awesome video! Very glad you posted this considering its the only vevor install video i could find! I just ordered one for my bass boat and alot of the reviews were saying its a great product but the instructions are garbage so this video is gonna take alot of the guessing games out of my install! Thank you!
By far the best installation video I've seen. I've got the Mercury Optimax 115 and when attempting to mount the ram, that bolt is literally 2mm too long. When you rotated your motor to the port side when installing that ram, did it open up the ability to get that bolt started. I noticed you said it was harder than it needed to be. Once again, great video.
@@pensacolapodiatrypa8186 i honestly cant remember what I did to get it stafted. I just know it was a pain. Thanks for watching
Excellent video! Definitely how one should be made on a install like this. I was quoted almost a $1000 today at a local marine shop for the "name brand" one. Ordering the today
Brilliant video! Super helpful since the directions that came with the kit totally suck. Thanks so much!
You saved more than a couple hundred bucks. I had a marine mechanic quote me $2000 to change my steering to hydraulic. After watching your video I found the system you used for my boat for $410. That’s a $1600 savings.
Thats awesome
Great walk through
Excellent vid! Massively helpful as I installed the 150 version on my re-powered Pro-Line.
I appreciate it. Feel free to subscribe
Thanks for the video it helped out a bunch because I got a used unit without instructions
Hooking mine up today. Learned a lot, will make it easier.
Hope it helps!!!
Thanks for the video, I put the same Vevor on my TV175.
Great Video! Just got mine in today watched your video Twice now. I hope it goes as smooth as yours.
Itll make you cuss a few times but just hang with it
Awesome job
Great video
I’d like to start a go fund me so you can get rid of the adjustable wrenches 🔧 👍🏻🤩
PS
Just bustin, I have 10 different adj wrenches 🔧
I cant even get mad at this comment 🤣😂🤣
Braver than me man.... dont know if i would attempt it ! Way to go though man i bet that helps a ton !
It was a challenge for sure. Glad I did it though
Thank you for this! I've been eyeing that Vevor kit for a while and it looks to be decent quality. How do you like it so far?
So far it has been flawless. Been out probably 4 or 5 times already
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 another update please?
Great video man!
Great job mate well done
Hello, how has it been with the VEVOR system, I want to acquire one because it is the cheapest option I could find through amazon, excellent video by the way, greetings from Mexico, Q,roo !! 🎉
No issues at all so far
Just wanted to stop a say thanks. Put a vevor system (smaller one for up to 90hp) on my boat this weekend and your video helped out a lot. Made install go quick and easy. How is yours working? You have a few trips on it? Thanks!
I love it. Zero issues so far. Glad the video helped. I almost didnt post it
Thanks for the video just installed and you were helpful! Does your steering make noise when turning at wheel?
No sir
I have a litte noise while turning, I have bleed multiple times all seems good. 5 1/4 turns from stop to stop I just can’t figure out the noise, any help would be appreciated.
@@davidjackson-wo1jd i have done the same I think we should just expect some noise
@@davidjackson-wo1jd sounds like something inside the pump rubbing (recently install here too)
Thinking about going with this one or the BayStar. I sure would like to save the money and go with this one. Do you have any regrets now that it’s been a few weeks?
So far its been flawless from idle to WOT. Time will tell but the components seem really well built.
Good video...
Can you put the link to the exact kit you used? I don’t see it in the description. I have the exact same motor
Yea give me a bit
Ok it should be there now
👍 thanks
Thanks for the video, great work. Did the hydraulic unit cause any clearance issues when tilting the motor up?
Not a bit
Awesome, thanks
I’ve got Sumerset HB with old Hynautic 50 helms and my fly bridge helm is just corroded and shot. I’ve had good luck with Vevor ice makers and other tools but wonder if it’s got dual steering 3rd return line setup.
my helm is set up for dual steering. Unsure what the 3rd line return is
I have a 69’ sea star, with a 04’ 9.9 4stroke mercury, would this kit work for me ? I do have electric trim/tilt. My cable has broke 2 times, no fun.. awesome video, thanks for sharing, you got yourself another sub.
I havent seen anywhere where there is a minimum on HP so imagine it would work.
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 thanks for the reply. I ordered the kit for upto 90hp that uses a rod connected to motor. Did you end up using 2 full qts of fluid ?
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 ok , I got it all installed, bled, took it out on the lake today and man, you have to constantly keep steering the boat.. I installed a new 13.5” steering wheel, should I have went with a bigger wheel ? Setting still, it’s 5 turns to stop, in both directions. Instructions say this is correct.. what am I missing ? Any thoughts ?
@@topcat15191961 its a learning curve coming from cable steering. I bought a steering knob to put on my steering wheel and it helps alot. The slower you are moving the more steering you do as well
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 yes, that makes total sense.. was going at slow speeds, thank you for the tip. On my way to order that knob..your a great help bro
Good work, what part of the bluegrass are you in
Richmond
does the kit function better than the cable? does it feel solid and like it will hold up?
1000 times better. Cable steering is outdated and should be discontinued in my opinion. It seems to be sturdy and reliable so far
If you had to do this all over again how long do you think it woud take?
@@aNuthaRedneck half a day by myself probably. Every boat will be different though
Hey how is this system holding up? I'm wanting to put hydraulic steering on my pontoon. Thanks!
Really good so far. I intend to do a follow at some point
Hi!
I'm about to acquire vevor equipment. Which model did you by? Up to 90hp or up to 150hp?
@@chivo2040 up to 150
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 can you please advise if you think it would work as expected with a 40hp four stroke Suzuki? Best video! I currently have a Baystar.
@@chivo2040 i honestly dont see why not. Pretty sure one guy commented he put it on a 20hp
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 thanks 🙏🏽
Hows it workin out?
Really good so far
Is the system 12 volt??????
It hydraulic. No electricity involved
Extremely helpful how-to video. Thanks for taking the time to teach us all.
Next project ..... Secure console to boat. Nothing worse than a loose seat or console.
Excellent video! Definitely how one should be made on a install like this. I was quoted almost a $1000 today at a local marine shop for the "name brand" one. Ordering the today
