So an eotech and magnifier is another method of FFP. Which is why using the magnifier with a bdc reticle works. Makes sense.

The FFP is still great for hunts.

I'm not buying that logic that FFP is better for competition - perhaps it's true if you don't know the distance - but if you know the distance, then imo SFP seems better, especially at long distance as I don't really want the radical to get larger as I want to see the target clearly to aim precisely and simply you cannot do that when radical size increases, can you?

Well i have hopes to get into competition shooting although my state is not condusive to it. Right now if i were to get into it i would only be able to find a max of a 600yrds lane ,any place in the state minus military bases.I am hoping to move out of this stat and into a more free state soon? My problem is my age as im getting older and if im gonna start in competitions then i gotta get a move on....lol Im loving long range and really think the 1st focal plain would be best for my needs? But as i move into another state i may start hunting as well? So what would you suggest for the begginner?

So SFP is only zeroed at whatever diatance/zoom power you zeroed it at, correct?

Correct. Generally, people will say the maximum magnification. However, whatever magnification you've zeroed your rifle/optic set up for is where the zero resides. Now, the measurements on your reticle will only be correct at the maximum magnification, which is why shooters with a SFP will generally zero at their maximum magnification.

I have a Scar 17, what 1st Focal plane optic do you guys recommend from your vudu line? Only doing recreational target shooting at my local range 100-600yrds.
