With the help of your video, I replaced the side mirror on my 2002 Mazda B3000 (AKA Ford Ranger) in about 25 minutes. An onlooker would have thought that I actually knew what I was doing! Thanks for posting it.
Thanks so much for this video. My daughter and I just completed this job and benefitted from your instruction. As I was nervous about all the switches we just fed the switch part through the opening in the door panel and left it attached. We also only removed the white plastic from the right side. Worked well. On to the cruise control switches next!

The black panel with all the switches can be rotated on the 2003 Ford Ranger I have (maybe other Rangers as well) and can be passed through the opening it covers, once you rotate it. Loosen the outer gray panel (two screws and lift), and then rotate the black panel as you pull the gray panel away from the door. The switch panel passes right through, no need to take them off!

I just came into a 2000 ford ranger 4x4. I found the fuse which is in slot one to power the mirrors. These will not move. Do you have a video on how to troubleshoot the switch using a multimeter before just assuming to replace everything?

It has become very popular to install '06-'11 mirrors on earlier ('00-'05) Rangers. It would sure be great if someone could make up adaptor wiring harnesses for this swap.
@troub1eshooting Yeah Trees should not move around like that! No reason to be horrified. Sense of accomplishment will be that much greater afterward.
How about just changing the glass only? Can anyone give me advice?
Few things I want to say. This guy made a 10 minute job a lot harder than necessary. Why, I have NO idea.
You DO NOT need to disconnect all the switches AT ALL. Just slide the door panel over the switch assembly. Super simple and no chance of breaking tabs.
Reconnect battery and make sure mirror works before reinstalling everything.
Also, just disconnect the splash guard in the area that the power clip is. No need to take the whole thing off at all. Why he did that is also a mystery.
Save yourself 75% of the time he took to do it. Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would do it the way he did.
What about if I have power less windows like I have to roll my windows how do I remove the panel then???

You will need to purchase mirrors made specifically for your 1997 model.
Also, the mirror options of your replacement mirrors need to be a 100% match to your OE ones. +CesarTns
I didn't have to peel the shield off on my door, just take the plastic panel off.

I have a Mitsubishi Galant 2001 and the mirror is loose, i am going to pay someone to fix it but i want to make sure that i cant do it myself before i pay someone else
Couldn't you just leave the switches in and disconnect the cables from them?
