Walther PPS M2 - A Sleeper Carry Gun

  • ko-fi.com/shaz... A true sleeper in the carry gun market if you ask me. Walther doesn't usually make poor products and this one has been great for me. In true Walther fashion, the ergos beat out any other single stack subcompact 9mm that I can think of (say Glocks or S&W Shields), the trigger is decent but not fantastic (still better than Glock), and the sights are quite good for the intended purpose of ventilating bad guys and actually do quite decently for accurate target shooting as well (more than I expected).
My negatives for this gun are the extreme lack of any aftermarket accessories (even night sights are not common) or modifications. I dont necessarily think anything needs to be changed on this pistol but some people will want to modify their gun. Walther has released a new pistol dot equipped version of this gun which I have no doubt will be good but that had come out after I had already bought this one. There is no option to add a light to this gun either. Lastly, Walther did away with the paddle magazine release from the M1 model of PPS which I sorely disagree with. Paddle mag releases are superior to button releases.
This gun is also extremely slim, carries well, doesnt weigh a ton and a half, and the striker indicator on the back plate is a nice touch. This is one subcompact 9mm I can actually shoot more than 100-200 rounds in a sitting and not hate myself. What good is a gun you dont practice with?
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a specific carry gun like this, a very slim, lightweight, 9mm, single stack, striker fired with no manual safety. They are a great value and very reasonably priced.

I bought this gun in 2019. I had a Shield and LC9, found this at a great price, so I picked it up. Sold off the other 2. I found this to be a better shooter, more accurate, and less recoil. Slightly larger than the others, but barely enough to notice. Far superior in my opinion

Own this one. One of the best single stacks ever made. Just need to convince myself the extra capacity is not needed. Also own a 365 and Shield Plus.

Love my pps m2. Super reliable and shoots like a larger pistol.

The PPS is an excellent option still, as most defensive shootings hardly involve a reload, somewhere around 5 rounds. I feel plenty comfortable with the flush fit and 7 rounder as a spare.
What is a sweet aftermarket option is the magguts spring kits. I've carried them for several issues with zero failures. You should check them out in another 7 round mag to vet them yourself.

Have a Magguts kit for a Shield Plus. 10 to 13 rounds. Even though not a single issue in over 1k rounds. Still something that does not set well about altering stock equipment. Not sure I would do it again.

@@34dawgsgo I've got the same. I actually like the magguts 10+3 better than the 13 round oem magazines because those baseplate designs just suck
Anymore I've stopped messing with the micros and single stacks and just carry the G19 and call it a day.

@@joshuabracke5775 No doubt it's a great design. The extension is just enough to get my pinky on there whereas the 10 rounder you can't.

Great review of a great pistol. Just ordered 2 of the 8 round mags. Cannot wait to get them.

I was looking for informed, experience-based opinions on the PPS as this gun, as with all modern Walther pistols, are a big gap in my know-how. Yours is probably the best informative video on this gun that I've watched to date, and I looked up quite a few of those - some of them pretty good. It helps that your ownership and carry philosophy jives very well with my own. Thanks for the video, it's a keeper. Btw, I just acquired a new PPS M2 and everything thus far is a mirror image of your own related experience.

I carry the LE version, and added the Galloway precision +1 mag plate to the 6rd. Mag.
What i love are the ergonomics which i think totally helps with accuracy.

Walther has ergonomics down pat, this is easily the most comfortable and good feeling concealed carry pistol in hand I've ever held/shot

Same! I compared it with the S&W Shield. The Walther felt outstanding and i shot better with it.
