This the the best video on TH-cam. You saved me a ton of time trying to figure all this stuff out brother. I'm not running as much as you with my single 8g wire, but I know exactly where it's going to go and how to do it. Thank you for taking the time to show us all how!
Thanks for the video. I’ve been trying to figure out how to run an amp kit in my 01’ Suburban. Also saw your other video. You’re no Dean or Fernando but you got the job done!
To left of the brake booster and right of gas pedel theres a good spot also if you look under dash there is a spot for them to come thru still have to drill hole on out side and run rubber grommet can do it much easer without removing anthing
I wired my amp down the engine bay and up a grommet thats under the front driver side floor board. It was way easier and no drilling required. 30 min tops if your decent skilled
I have a 1997 GMC Sierra C1500 and do not know where I can drill or access from the engine compartment to the inside cab for running new wires for my new fog lights. Any help would be great. Thanks...August
Pick a spot you think will work and just use a punch to tap a dimple in the firewall. Check to see where the dimple is on the other side (making sure not to mess up any wires or anything else). If it looks good, start with a very small drill bit and go through (carefully). If it looks good and clear, use a step bit to get your hole to the proper size and go for it.
yeah little late but look for where a clutch assembly would go through a firewall is usually a really good place, itll have notches or even a grommet plug already there for you
You pretty much f***** yourself cut the harness exactly where you drilled it only the plastic around the wires not the harness itself once you find The broken wires match the coloring together of what wires are broken tie them together PVC tape them heat them up so they have a tight seal and connection and then put it back together and you're good to go or if you don't want to do all that buy a new wire harness but that will probably cost more than the car don't watch videos of people who aren't mechanics they're doing everything off of guessing this guy isn't that bad but shouldn't be doing tutorials unless you know exactly what you are doing!
If you’re still trying to figure it out take a trip down to ye ole junke yarde and have a peek at a few of these trucks to see how it’s supposed to go. You can practice getting in there on some junk cars while you’re at it so you’re prepped for the final run on your own rig.
This is where the clutch pedal linkage would go on a manual transmission vehicle. So note that this only works if you have an automatic. Great place to do it. I highly recommend using a step drill so you get clean edges. I did mine with this boot: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K2285E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and after running wires through the boot you can ziptie it down onto the wires to make an air seal.
why make all those holes in the firewall and run them through the interior...? the panels won't fit back on properly and you'll get interference from those wires into other circuits on the vehicle.... loom them and go under the vehicle and find a suitable location at the back of the vehicle to bring them all through in one large multiport grommet. sort of pointless to run multiple sets when you could have just run a 2/0 single run...
you should get some step bits ..... they work extremely well

I'm so glad it helped, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave such a nice comment.
Would be nice if they'd put an accessory hole
Step bits smoke through sheetmetal and cut pretty cleanly. Just have to be careful that you don't go to big as you drill it out.
Great point, thanks!
w-what are you doing step-bit?
Love all your Tahoe Vids , keep them coming!
Thanks for the feedback and for watching!

thanks so much for watching!

you should invest in some step bits ....... they go through anything and always a clean hole
Excellent point, and yes.... I have several now.
not easy to make this quality of a video. well done.

great tip, thanks
*Wouldn’t water get in though?*
What kind of drill is that
POPPED A TAP! Thanks for your video
Where do ya get the grommets
Any auto parts store or Amazon.
Are there two pieces of metal from the firewall to the the inside of the car or one big chunk of metal
1
Thank you so frigging much for showing me how to get through my firewall. WOOOOO!

Used this video for my 2013 avalanche. Same concept and it worked perfectly 😃👍
thanks man I have a 01 Tahoe know I can run my 0gauge threw thank for sharing this information
Glad it helped!
buy obd chip, touch screen and torque program and you have 12 gauges in one touch screen without make all these mess
should I clear coat the hole?
i didn't but that's a good idea
Get a unibit, dude... Start small and graduate as needed. No need to switch drill bits, and you get a clean hole the entire way...
I accidentally drilled some wires going through that main double grommet. Now idk what to do.
sell the car. no, seriously - you gotta figure out what you messed up and get stuff rewired.

@@TahoeSteve 😂😂😂
How did you seal the airgaps in your new access holes?
I didn't.
You can use some RTV or silicone, just squirt a bit around it to seal.

Whered you get the grommets from?
they were laying around, but when in doubt, amazon.com
I picked some up at Home Depot
Amazing video! So helpful and specific!
So glad it helped!
Ugly yes but take a bolt equal size and two oversized washers and cranked it down and straightened the metal
get yourself a step up bit & youll save yourself a bit of time
So I guess it's not double plated
Searched for a 2011 chev equinox not tyhoe
That was intense
Why would you you need to put string on grommet to pull thru... why not just push it in instead adding an unnecessary step?
Just not that bright, i guess.
ugh, I'm so nervous to pull the trigger. Im running a 0 gauge o_0 ......
just go for it. use a tiny bit (or progressive drill bit) and do it. check both sides to make sure your bit won't hit any wires. good luck!

good tips.
Thank you. The flood gates have now opened!
thank you
Good shit
Glad to help.
