    Hindi ko pa na try ang sinigang sa bayabas but it looks so yummy at natural pa ang mga sangkap kaya siguradong napaka healthy. I will try this recipe. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    I would love to make this for my wife, her grandmother use to make it for her, I just have one question. When peeling the guava, how come only half gets peeled and the other half just the tips are removed? Is this an important step? If so what happens to the unpeeled guava? Thank you for any feedback!

    Here in Laguna, we put a little sugar in our sinigang sa bayabas. Aside from pork’s tail and shoulders we also use a more popular liempo or bangus.

      @@LittleChefAsia @Awel Enriquez This is not a family recipe. It's how the town I grew up in cooks "sinigang sa bayabas" whether it's pork or bangus. I was told once (very politely) that the dish is even unheard of in some Visayas region. There are many variants of sinigang some of which I haven't tried but will neither frown nor dismiss without tasting first especially when I love to travel and eat. My hmmm is reserved for curiosity and surprise and my father taught us to at least have a taste of the unfamiliar food before saying no; it's a polite thing to do, he said. I'm a researcher writer by profession and of course, this exchange got me curious and found out the little sugar in sinigang sa bayabas is not unusual or uncommon as much as spinach or camote tops is used in place of kangkong in it. Some of the recipes I came across even list sugar in the recipe noting it as optional. Filipino cooks are known to be adaptable and adventurous as our palettes. We are practical in the sense that we can cook with whatever is available and make a feast out of it. Aside from bangus and pork, my mother tried alimasag na sinigang sa bayabas which is delicious with that 'little sugar' but I have yet to try the sinigang na sardinas by Ligo Sardines.

    Truly love your presentation and so organized! I've always had sinigang sa bayabas but with bangus belly. I will try it pork. I just miss all the fresh vegetables you used in here. It's not always available here where I live...most especially the bayabas. Keep cooking and sharing.
