When James and Jason personified the word 🤘METAL🤘, and I was 17. I saw them twice on this tour, New Orleans and Shreveport. ...lost my left Reebok high-top rushing the gate at UNO.
Quick story .I purchased this album March of 1986, and was reading the lyrics as I was listening to it. I had an iron Maiden poster for "live after death" as I listened to the last verse of this song, it says "Nothing which eternal lies, yet with strange eon's death may die" and at that moment I happen to glance at that Iron Maiden poster, and on a tomb stone it had those exact words. I was totally blown away, planets aligned perfectly..crazy and literally feeling like I was in some movie. Great song... keep up the 80's Metal..Damage inc album version is always a keeper
This was filmed at the Seattle Center Coliseum over two nights; August 29 and 30 1989. I was lucky enough to attend both shows. Two of the craziest shows I've ever been to.
I, too, was lucky enough to go the August 30th show-my birthday! Not only that, I graduated high school two months earlier. YES, I, TOO, WAS FLOORED BY THIS SHOW!
The song actually includes a quote of Lovecraft's writings. The line: "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die" is from a short story called The Nameless City. The quote itself is attributed to the mad arab Abdul Alhazred who is, in Lovecraft's mythos, the author of The Necronomicon.
Yes love the performance with the orchestra, when you think about Metalica and an orchestra most would think are you crazy but it actually works and I have also seen other bands use an orchestra or at least parts of the instruments seen in an orchestra including TheWarning at the Pepsi Center (CDMX) . Yes sounds like a great idea watching the Metallica S & M show . Rush - Jacob's Ladder (Live R40) this looks like mostly instrumental it has some real good guitar work and some keyboard playing too. Real good quality video and vocals(the little amount that has singing.)Thanks for the Metallica reaction Playboy Bunny Nikki 😂 one of my favorite bands !
Yeah, I never would have imagined metal and an orchestra together before but oh it works so perfectly together! 💞 I'm sad Rocktober is almost over but I'm looking forward to checking out non-spooky songs, like some of those Pepsi Center performances. 😁 Though, I know some of their songs would have fit in with Rocktober too. 😅
@@nikkireviews Yes Rocktober has been fun.The Pepsi Center videos speaking of audio and video quality are top of the line you will enjoy!Oh yes TW for sure have some tracks that fit Halloween ☺!
Bleeding Me is my fav Metallica song, I particularly like the S&M version, so I'm sure you're familiar with it. Not many people react to that song. Would love to see it! Also Outlaw torn. Also the whole album lol :) Anesthesia on S&M2 is a particularly moving piece I've always enjoyed.
Yes as long as TH-cam allows I will react to all of them over time! 😁🤘🏻🎵 And Bleeding Me is great! Outlaw Torn as well, especially the lyrics. Oh they're all just so good..haha.
I’m obsessed with Lovecraft and it’s all their fault 😂this is on my playlist as well as call of Ktulu, etc. Lars kicks ass. Beat those drums like they were Napster executives😂
This was filmed on the 'Damaged Justice' tour (1988 - 1989) in Seattle Center Coliseum in Seattle, Washington over 2 nights in August 29, 30 ... released in 1993 as part of the Metallica boxed set "Live S+++: Binge & Purge"... which also included shows in Mexico City, Mexico... and San Diego on the 'black album' tour. U can view both the Seattle and San Diego shows on concert video... Mexico City is audio only. I agree... bassist Jason Newsted was a much better performer and presence in Metallica. Robert Trujillo is criminally underused in Metallica - his skills on bass were more prominent on his records w/ Suicidal Tendencies... Infectious Grooves... There are more live recordings of Metallica on YT over decades... but the best performances are from 1983 to 1993. Their home video release "Cliff 'em all" included performances w/ late bassist Cliff Burton. The 'Cunning Stunts' concert video by Metallica was filmed in 1997 and featured the band w/ short hair 😂
James' best live vocal performance
So glad that more and more youtubers react to this performance.
It's such a good one. 😁🤘🏻

Wow! Sounds like quite the time! 😂 That's awesome that you got to see them back then though, and with Jason! 😱

The anger in his voice is so genuine , I've watched the DVD for years . And never gets old
I was 14 in 89 and went to the concert in Detroit (this same tour) and it was just as amazing. It’s cool to see you enjoy this so much.
Oh wow that's awesome that you got to see them back then! Metallica is awesome! 🤘🏻
I absolutely LOVE these guys. Such an amazing song!
They're one of my favorite bands. So I will visit and re-visit as many songs as people want. 😂
@@nikkireviews Nikki, that is music to my ears!!

Best concert of my life
James look like he's on the brink of madness in this one awesome
Yeah, his facial expressions are on point for the intensity. 👌🏻
6:28 - 6:30 is just straight anger, testosterone and beer
❤❤❤ 1 of my favorite songs from probably the best performance of all time ever🤘🏻💯‼️🔊🔊🔊🎵🎵🎵
The fucking Kings 🤘
That's right! 🤘🏻

You can react to S&M 2!
I will do that - if TH-cam allows!

I would love to re-watch stuff from that show as well. We were actually at that one!
