Whoa, this video is awesome! Stoked to know you’re loving this new feature Oliver❤ The team’s still putting ours together, and let us just say, your tutorial is an absolute lifesaver! Huge thanks! By the way, D5 Scatter is getting even more user-friendly in the upcoming update. Can’t wait to share with you! 😉
The Education version is almost impossible to get, I have my ID and the letter that can be validated, but no teacher will let me share his e-mail address with you. Please consider a less burocratic method or a cheaper subscription for education license. I would pay something like 10 USD 😅
@@fmilioni I’ve been hearing a lot of issues with the education licensing as well lately. Thanks for sharing that here! Hopefully D5 provides a better alternative for this 🙏
I had fun with this program all day yesterday) I have a subscription and therefore all the possibilities are open! This is a breakthrough that I have been waiting for since about 2006) there are simply no analogues! He also opened his student's student project on 9 hectares and in 15-20 minutes achieved a result that was not even dreamed of in those days
i was stunted when i saw the D5 2.7 thriller on their youtube page 🔥. The scatter tool is such a great improvement. Quality video always. I know this is unrelated but the thinkparametric website isn't going through for almost a month now. I know you did a video with one of the tutors. The architect from BIG.
Right? My first reaction was “finally!!!”, then I had to test it and it actually took me a while to get things moving, that for a second I was even doubting the scatter tool they implemented. But now after testing and seeing how powerful it is, I can say that it has completely changed D5 for me. Absolutely incredible! I do still have a few considerations for future fixes or improvements, but this is still version 1 and imagine how this will evolve in the future! 🙌
@@LearnUpstairs i must say that D5 is really giving lumion and Enscape a run for their money both in pricing and implementation of new features. Also the improvement in the VR capabilities. D5 in tending towards the complete package for architect. Still image Rendering, VR, Animation, and AI all in one software.
It's been 2 years i switched from Enscape to D5 for quick render (what i mean by that, it's when i have don't have the time. You can't always use Corona/V-ray when you're in the rush). I have to say i'm really impressed and i will never go back to Enscape. First thing, for me, D5 is way more stable than Enscape, especially when you works with lights. No crash at all. It's works flawlessly in live mode. The UI and options available are really "complete" and easy to use. D5 has also a lot of update and bugs fixes regulary. Team/Staff of D5 are very active with the community and ask to people what they want to see in futur update. There is so much thing i desperately needed in Enscape. Like the "grow ivy" settings, the rounded corner, mutli pass channel, and so on. And right now with this lastest update, a new very powerful scatter tool ! Probably the only drawback i could say, is the library which can be a bit small. I really hope more people will try it.
@@rajendrameena150 Yeah you right and i already do that for most of my furnitures but sadly it's a bit more complicated when you have to work with very specific plants / flowers or props. The best solution right now is to use a bridge to Quixel.
@@rajendrameena150 yeah good for you, but as i said, for very specific projet i need 3D scans or custom made model. I know there is plenty "pack" on internet but not all them can fit specific demand. That's why Quixel Brige is a good solution to work around.
For close up 1 house/garden type views I still find that I need to scatter AND brush the material with some dense grass/shrubs to ensure there is good ground coverage.
I saw they have procedural vines as well!? This level of scattering customisation is indeed exactly what you would need use blender for, but working with BIM models in blender is not so easy
The procedural vines look incredible too! But to be honest I wasn’t able to make them work properly 😅 They would work only on certain surfaces and I couldn’t get the results I needed. I need to give a second try at it I guess! And for sure! That’s why features like this are a huge improvement, even if they already exist in advanced 3d software. Because that live connection between a BIM model and a real-time engine is what speeds up the work.
Oh for sure! But it’s not expected in a sense, right? I mean D5 is pumping out features for their software only and don’t have 3d capabilities to assist the workflow. There are lot of things they could still improve and make more “advanced”, like hopefully they add a manual brush paint on the masks to make it even better!
Such scattering function don't need 3d capabilities to rely on, it is just visual work. For precise site vegetation, one can use rhino or other softwares.
@@LearnUpstairs Actually it is because Unreal Engine 5.4 doesn´t have stable modelling tools yet. With upcoming releases we will get there. The scatter tool in D5 is basically just the PCG framework in Unreal
@@rajendrameena150 That depends I guess, but I’m mostly comparing with Blender’s scatter capabilities with nodes and weight maps. That’s extremely powerful, but since Cyles is natively working together, you can easily set up the rendering settings of the scattered assets. Which is not the same seamless process with say Rhino. Even if it’s for precise placement of vegetation, you then need another software (realtime engines for examples) to then set up how it will look with reflections, roughness, subsurface and so on. I mean there are no right or wrong approaches to this, but personally I find it better to concentrate vegetation in a single place, ideally where you have your library of assets (built in or even paid).
@@christianmuntean that’s really good to know! Thanks for sharing that here. The more competition the better, so if UE is going to have more and more 3d capabilities, I can wait for that!
This is indeed very requested feature for exterior visualisation. I wrote it even and they said they are working and within 3 month, it is there, very responsive team... Hope this render engine don't acquired by Autodesk or chaos group....
You can find the system requirements for D5 on their website. But what I usually suggest at the moment is this: For a real-time engine the most important part is the GPU (graphics card). You need at least 6GB of VRAM to run these engines smoothly. Obviously huge files are still going to suffer a bit. So for example, RTX 3060 or above / RTX 4060 or above. It’s important to remember that a laptop with the same specs as a desktop will still be slower due to the size and cooling capabilities. Then you need to be using SSD instead of HD. But all laptops nowadays already come with this better type of storage. I’d say at least 1 TB, but if possible go for 2 TB. In terms of RAM (or also called memory), I recommend at least 16 GB. But for me personally it’s always at least 32 GB for really intensive Photoshop work. And then lastly a CPU (processor). There are no specific requirements here, but the laptops in the market right now with the graphics card I mentioned already come with a powerful processor. I’ve had a good time using Lenovo’s gaming line of laptops. But at the time I’ve switched to a desktop for a more powerful setup. I hope that helps! 😁
Hi great video ! I tried out the new scatter tool but it takes forever to load? Do u know why ? Maybe cause I don’t know how to use it properly ? Thanks I’m on a laptop 4080
Thanks! That might depend on several things. Like, is the surface you’re applying the scatter too large? Also, a laptop rtx 4080 is powerful, but it’s still a laptop with its heating limitations or power supply. So I’d expect not matching up to a 4080 for desktop. I’ve noticed the new Scatter being way more responsive and quick than the old Scatter. Even the overall navigation around the model then was fluid. Was it also slow using just one of the presets?

Otherwise, this video could've ended up unnecessarily long (more like 20 minutes) to deliver the same content. Hopefully, that isn't too distracting
