I agree with you 100%! Rory Gallagher - the best ever! Not only as a guitarist, but as a complete musician. I saw his show in Oslo in 1979 "I felt that he was playing and communicating just to and for me! Others I know have exp. exactly the same with Rory. His presence was just fantastic and special. I think I have listened to Rory at least once a day ever since that show in 79
The first time I saw RG play on TH-cam,? I was dumb struck, couldn't believe what he was doing, and the sound coming out ?? Oh, and the vocals!!!!! Yes, I can only dream of playing half like him,? RG had truly mastered the guitar. RIP RG.
I managed to see Rory 6 times, the most exciting guitar player I have ever seen, every show different, solos off the cuff, you knew you always got 110% at a Gallagher gig...just fabulous...miss him so much ❤️. 🎸😎
I saw Rory a number of times… alone with many others from Dire Straits to BB King to U2 … by a country mile none could equal Rory .. his gigs at the Olympia theatre were astounding.. how is the building even still standing.. Rory had a magnetic personal appeal that changed many people’s lives- Des in Dublin
The man was absolutely incredible I've seen alot of great musicians he by far is theeeee best!!!! He's playing in heaven right now. God bless him for giving us a short but great time.
Rory is greatly missed, one of my first vinyl albums was Rory Gallagher live in Europe, still a huge favorite, superb, diverse, creative, sincere bluesman and wonderful songwriter, without doubt one of the greats.
Thank you for your comment, Rory playing live was where he loved to be and it shows in his performance's, the ability to play old blues on a resonator then rock out some electric blues to take it up a gear to moonchild witch could be described as metal, and all in the same show, is just a amazing testimony to how great he was ❤
Just found Rory a couple of months ago online and now listen to him learning about him all the time. Yes, he makes me happy, not only his music but also he was, as you say, a gentleman. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
WHEN GREAT MUSICIANS DEPART FROM THIS WORLD, MANY TO BE MENTIONED, I FEEL WE LOSE A LOT. BUT NO MATTER WHAT NEW PLAYERS DO AND ACHIEVE, NOT ONE DEAD NOR ALIVE, WILL EVER LEAVE SUCH A GIGANTIC PROOF OF HAVING BEEN THE VERY BEST...BECAUSE THAT SLOT BELONGS TO THE ONE AND ONLY RORY GALLAGHER.
I had the great privilege of seeing Rory 3 times twice Edinburgh playhouse once in Aberdeen missed him in the caley hotel Inverness home ground he was one of the greats miss him dearly cheers vicars 😊
I totally agree that Rory was amazing, very creative and makes music that you can listen every in every mood you are. It’s always gives me the energy, the right feeling, the happiness, strength and you. The composition of his songs inspires you from the beginning to the end. Each note is a gift from the real naturally gifted passionate musician Rory Gallagher was. His soul, hart, voice were in totally deep harmony with his instruments and musicians he played with and that vibes were absorbed by his audience witch brings each gig in an atmosphere of maximum synchronicity with Rory and his band and his audience with an electrifying effect on all weather he played acoustic or electric, blues rock or folk. His way of playing was always authentic, full of emotion and energy, convinced and natural gifted, 100 %. I am from 1961 and know Rory since I was eleven years old and enjoy his music almost every day. Each time it gives me the right feeling. Rory’s music, voice and sound is timeless for me. It goes on forever and ever just like he sings this words in his exceptional beautiful song Tucson Arizona. In that song Rory feels the atmosphere, the energy, harmony, timelessness and greatness of the nature with we all know and bring this together in this incredible special perfect song. This song, the atmosphere Rory felt when he walked in the Arizona sun and subscribed and translate it in this musical masterpiece is the metaverse for the close harmony between him and his band on stage and his enthusiastic audience that always gives him great thanks and also asking for just another more song, it goes on forever and ever! Rory Gallagher exceptional gifted and unique!
Saw Rory many times during the 70's and early 80's and the man was the greatest white blues guitarist ever although that's not to deride all the other greats like Stevie Ray , Johnny Winter etc . A decent , self effacing , humble man too whose refusal to water down or compromise the music he loved meant that he never received the commercial acclaim he's talents deserved . l feel l was previlaged to see such a great guitarist and showman who always worked hard to give he's audience he's best . RIP Rory .
Rory Gallagher, man. I'm 68 and a lifelong fan to this day. People I turn on to Rory's music over the years are totally blown away! Even now, his music is still fresh, innovative and just plain good. There's no reason for Rory Gallagher to ever fade away? Just the opposite really, it's inspiring! Rory as Jimi, Stevie Ray, Johnny Winter are gone, but their music is alive and kicking a$$!
Thank you for watching, Bet that was a great gig, Rory had Rush support him when they were starting out, the Rush once established returned the favour by inviting Rory on tour
The Band wanted him to play at their Last Waltz film/concert. He wouldn't do it because he had already committed to some concerts. Rorys base player Gerry McAvoy pleaded with Rory to go play with the Band. He knew the exposure Rory would get from that show to the American audience would be huge. Rory, however, would not let his fans down and cancel shows. He was a good guy as well as a magnificent guitar player.
Thank for watching, Rory was very loyal and grateful for his fans, and put them before everything else, he was a very rare man both in ability and values, A true Great
Loved what you said about Rory..I'm lucky enough to have a shirt he wore on stage and a t-shirt from his last 2 tours . the May one in 94 until Xmas . and the January 95 one.. his brother Donal gave me.. hope you do more Rory stuff
No doubt about it Rory is the GOAT I had the privilege of seeing him twice in concert most exciting guitar player I've ever seen or heard guts passion excitment Rory had it all he could play anything rip legend
The best guitarist is a difficult thing to judge because there are so many styles or genres. Personally I think Lenny Breau might have been the best guitarist ever but many blues or rock players wouldn’t know who he was. Rory Gallagher sits in a similar position as a generational talent that is seriously under appreciated.
@Chiller11… thanks for someone finally dealing objectively with the “who’s the best guitarist” dilemma. Music is expansive. So many great players in so many different styles and types of music. It’s fair to debate about the topic I think and no matter the musical genre, there is a standard of technical ability a player should exceed to be considered “great”. After that it in the end it’s subjective and comes down to taste and preference in what one enjoys listening to. The more great players the better for all to appreciate them.
I always smile whenever I listen to Rory.I discovered him late. If I could go back in time....Lol. So thankful for the people that have shared his live performances on TH-cam. It has allowed millions of us to experience the genius and magic of Rory. Lots of amazing guitarists over the years but Rory stands out for the joy and excitement that he brought to every performance. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching, Rory's music make my heart smile unlike any other guitarist I have watched or listened to, I started getting into to Rory after I heard he had passed in1995 so sadly never got to see him in person, but there are some great videos of him that life my soul every time I watch them, Thank you for your comment
I'm a huge Rory and Stones fan. He knocked them back lol On honour What a dude. Hope he's jamming with Jimmy and Stevie keeping the big fella up He deserves it!
Rory's fans met more to him than money, it will be the best gig in the universe with all the Greatest on the same stage ❤ I think it sounds like heaven, just hope I can get a ticket 😂
Very true I think this is why Rory is considered Great by Great guitar players and not Music fans, he makes everything look so simple, until you try to replicate his playing and then you realise Just how Great he really was
Yes, there is no doubt about it. I really appreciate you doing this piece explaining why Rory was the GOAT with a guitar. I've told a similar story to many people, and thankfully, many young people have come to realize that I was right. I've been a major fan of Rory since I was 17 years old, I'm 69 now. I love all of the best guitar players, and I'm familiar with the history, but you, my man, have definitely made my day. Thank you very much.
i saw Rory and is probably my favourite gig on 19th October 1980 at the Top Rank in Cardiff. What a performance! It was standing room only and i was in the front row. Rocked my way all the way though. Shook hands at the end of the gig. Will never forget. it was my 20th Birthday and they wouldnt serve me at the bar. Great memories courtesy of Rory Gallagher
Let's celebrate a master! As a life long fan (first saw Taste at The Marquee in 1968, aged 15) I'd have to agree with your point of view! 55 years since the release of the first Taste album: 01/04/1969 - What a debut album that was! Brilliant musician and lovely man.
@@TheReveant888 Donal & Daniel Gallagher have done a pretty good job keeping his legacy going, I don't think he's ever been as popular as he is now. Certainly more people are aware of him than at the time of his death.
I saw Rory with Taste a few times at the Marquee during that era, brilliant. Ten Years After were another favourite there around then. I first saw Taste in '67 at a festival at Woburn. Nice video man!
Saw Rory Gallagher twice in Portland, Oregon at the old Paramount Theater. Great place for concerts in the 1970’s. Roy always gave a great performance and your moneys worth. One side note that stood out. On one of the shows the opening act was The Frankie Miller Band,(this was a long time ago), and Frankie and his guys were s#@t face drunk and quite the spectacle. As I remember their performance suffered accordingly but Frankie’s interaction with the fans more than made up for the poor playing and was entertaining .
Couldn't agree more my friend. A monster of a guitar player, he truly was fantastic, whether it was electric, acoustic, or steel. He was a very good singer too and to cap it all; he was oh so humble. I also think Rory was the greatest guitar player ever buddy. Personal opinion I know, but, boy, he played the blues!!!!! And for that, we say amen brother. I stay in Scotland and one day, I will visit his grave and pay my respects to this humble, beautiful Irishman. Love and respect to one and all.
Thank you for watching and commenting, one of my goals is to visit Ballyshannon and play at the Rory Gallagher festival, I hope you get to make your trip to Ireland thank you ❤
No question that Rory was an exceptionally gifted player who totally devoted himself to music. And it just seemed so natural to him. I think that's what makes him so outstanding. I met him once in a pub where he jammed with the band who were playing there, which included one of his drummers, Wilgar Campbell. As everyone always says, he was very approachable and seemed a very humble guy. Sadly missed.
In august 1980 Rory played on Friday night at Sneekweek in the Netherlands. I went there. The day after, round 10 AM, I was talking about the concert with some friends in a record shop. Who was walking in? Rory Gallagher! I was a bit starstruck and only looked at him once. But of of course it's something you never forget.
With you all the way dude .The greatest guitar performer of an era , and what an era to be king of and we were blessed to have lived to see it all. Carlton Cinema Irish Tour 74 Dublin. Epic , smitten for life . I saw many great guitar demigods of rock/blues/fusion over the decades but None can compare to the energy so true and rare as Rory stands out like God among demigods . Eating their hearts out .
I also discovered Rory late. I first started playing guitar after hearing Scotty Moore in Elvis' backup band. I've listened to and learned all of them - Clapton, Green, Gary Moore, Buddy Guy, Blackmore, but Rory stands out from all. Most inventive blues solos on record.
I don't like to rank guitarists. It's more to do with how their playing fits the song, or lifts the song up. These contributions to music weigh heavier, to me, than technical prowess. Of which Rory, of course, had plenty.
I love both Rory and Hendrix, and never really compared the two, But the way you have explained Just how good Rory was, has made me look at the differences between the two, and I believe you are right Rory is a far greater guitar player just not as well know for what ever reason, I have seen Rory many times and always left me in awe at his energy and amazing performances, You are a great guitar player and I believe if you get the right opportunities you too could be considered a future Great, love you videos and look forward to the next 🎸
People are picking their personal favorite influences growing up, from wee lads, to today … Mr. Gallagher, Danny Kirwan and John McLaughlin. Though not a big influence, but a huge appreciation for Joan Jett. It was all about the music, and nothing else but the music.
He was one yes, but there are many. I'm sure he'd say something like it isn't a pissing contest , it's art after all.....rory was a great guitar player and a humble person
Thank you for watching, Its not a pissing contest but if it was Rory would win in my eyes, This is just my opinion, Rory was a humble person and that's part of the reason why I made the video, Rory just does not get the recognition he deserves as one of the Greats, So I made a bold statement to get the conversation going, Rory and his music have made me a better person and player, and he deserves to be at the top table with Hendrix and clapton etc, Thank you for your comment it did make me smile
I couldn't agree more. I first became aware of Rory in the late 70s and he toppled Page, Clapton, Hendrix and Beck off the pedestal and has remained there ever since. He's my biggest influence as a guitar player and always will be.
I totally agree. Rory was the master. He shunned the rockstar limelight, that other lesser guitarists strove for, so largely went under the radar. His band Taste, were underrated because they wouldn't conform to the Spinal Tap lifestyle. They kept their feet on the ground, happy to be the best band around. I had the pleasure of meeting Rory in the Grimsby Jazz Club. We sat and chatted prior to him setting up for the gig and again during the bands break. A few months later I went to see Taste in the Marquee Club. He recognised me and he invited me backstage after the gig. He was a really nice guy. He died far too young.
I should have gone to see Rory when I had the chance. As a kid growing up and learning to play myself, I was well aware of his abilities and wanted to go and see him, but it just never happened. Amazing player. Not a huge fan of his music, but I had total respect for his for guitar playing and wanted to see it for myself. He was high octane performer, total one off. On the rare occasions he was on telly I'd tune in. He was decent bloke by all accounts too. Once again mate, you've given me an education on stuff I never knew. Cheers Rev. Keep it up. ps, when I say I wasn't a huge fan of his music, I just mean it in terms of preference. I was well into other stuff at the time.
I love Rory but all those alleged quotes can't be traced to any newspaper, magazine, TV or radio interview. It's always "apparently Hendrix said...". I do know that when Blackmore quit Purple, David Coverdale drew up a list of replacements and his number 1 was Rory. He turned it down. Rory played support on Purple gigs in the US so Coverdale heard him every night.
Thank you for watching the video, I've never been able to find the go ask Rory quote other than 2nd hand comments, but lots of things get said in press conferences that don't get written down, but I don't suppose it really matters as Rory's playing speaks for its self, His slide work, acoustic playing and song writing and performances all show a level of musicianship that Jimi just did not display, Jimi was far more influential due to the way he was marketed, But The Great Rory Gallagher was the far better guitarist, He was also the first person Muddy waters requested to play with on his London sessions ❤
@@TheReveant888 I can't see how the Purple line up would have worked. He was always prepared to change his own band lineups. He was his own man that way.
@@gab99 I think it would have worked short term, as Rory could work with anyone but ultimately like you say Rory was his own man, and led from the front and it would have been a waste to have him as a band member and not band leader ❤
Greatest ever is impossible to pinpoint. I saw Rory in a small club in the early 70's. It had old theatre seats with arm rests. He walked out, stepping on armrests, and stopped on my seat. I'm looking up at Rory, standing over me, swaeting and blazing on guitar while shouting "sons of bitches, sons of bitches!" One of the high points of my life.. Certainly ONE of the greatest - Rory, Jimi, Jeff Beck....for me, Jeff takes the crown, but I LOVED all three and many more. Frank Zappa, Warren Haynes, the list goes on and on.....
I couldn't agree more, but I would like to add my two cents... the best 3 guitarist and not necessarily in order, rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, jimi Hendrix...
And the best human being... the same ofcourse goes for Randy Rhoads S.R.V and Jimmy Hendrix..... they are dearlly missed. Rory is such a gem. His musical pallete is so rich.......Rory was great in everything ...the voice the acoustic fingerstyle the harmonica ....once in a lifetime......
You got it spot on man, everything you said is true of Rory all the styles he also was a great slide player and pretty hot on alto saxophone, I never missed a show when he was in my neck of the woods I was so lucky to have meet Rory on 5 occasions, He thought it was so cool that I called my son Rory. so many stories really great memories Cheers man
We can be thankful that the Stones gig never materialised - Rory's talent would probably have been completely wasted there (same thing with Beck). I think Rory is a phenomenan and, considering his abilities, unjustly undervalued. He was undoubtedly up there with the rock greats, no doubt in my mind about that, but I don't think we can really pin 'The Greatest' label on anybody. There will be loads of guitarists, known and unknown, who have similar abilities, and of course some who will be vastly more skilled in some areas. I recently twice saw a bloke playing in th Cavern; once on acoustic and alone, another time as part of a three piece. He completely blew the place apart with his talent, knowledge and energy. Once again, it brought the Guitar Hero nonsense into perspective. Touchingly, his brother Donal also ranked him as the greatest (electric guitarist). A friend of mined waited for Rory behind the hall after a gig. The great man had the kindness and patience to talk with him (then, about 16yrs old) , a real gent, and he gave my friend the strings he'd just removed from his battered Strat.
Thank you for watching and commenting, It is of course my opinion and to me Rory is the greatest, but as you say there are many great known and unknown players of a similar ability that just don't get a mention, I think Rory would have been waisted in the stones or deep purple as he led from the front and was a band leader not a member, Love the account about your friend and Rory's strings thank you for sharing
I feel it would be sacrilegious to discuss Hendrix and Gallagher as being in competition. I saw Rory twice at High Wycombe town hall in the early 70’s and he was ballistic from the moment he came own, a little slow down bit in the middle and off again hardly out of breath, was Rory better than Jimi, was Jimi better than Rory well that’s a ridiculous question as they were both huge. Personally I would always give the nod to Jimi, he came onto the scene and exploded it, his playing was revolutionary, he didn’t stay in the blues rock genre but widened his songwriting to include loads of masterpieces like Little Wing, Castles Made of Sound,, Are You Experienced, Third Stone from the Sun, and on and on together with powerhouses like Hear my Train, Voodoo Chile, all the Band of Gypsies tracks (which is the best live album ever). Jimi’s musicianship and creativity took him way above everyone before, at the time and ever since, every honest guitar player knows this. If you want rock and roll then Jimi’s Johnny B Goode is how rock and roll is done, no one has topped that, smooth, fast, ingenious, like a V12, laid back but spotlessly played, he wasn’t a junkie, he wasn’t a guitar player he was a genius.
Thank you for watching, Personally I don't see Guitarist and music as in competition, but that's not how most guitarists see each other, I once heard it described as gunfighters sizing each other up to see who is the fastest on the draw etc, and the record companies media love a vote on who is the best, it helps sell records and merch, I love both Jimi and Rory in equal measure, and have studied and learned lots form both and many others, to make me the player I am today, I am better than I was but still have a lot to learn, My video is simply my opinion and I felt that Rory shows far more ability than Jimi across the board, But Jimi has had far more impact, is this simply because of marketing and management, Jimi himself was desperate to develop his music in his own way, and was held back by management to make songs that were more commercial, he never really got make the music he wanted, Rory on the other hand had after Taste didn't allow himself to be caught in this trap, He was his own man, and because of this the record companies didn't push or promote Rory's work in the way it should have been promoted, hence why he is less well known, Its a shame Jimi and Rory never played together as that really would have been a sight to behold as they would have bounced of each other like atoms, I made the video to make people think about a great guitarist that never got the recognition he deserves, And like Jimi did I made a bold statement that I believe in my opinion is just, and rattled a few feathers to get The Great Rory Gallagher some attention due, Thank you for your comments
@bobk5......consider your self special. the host of this video and most of these commenters don't get it or pretend not to get it. As you said, Jimi was a genius. nuff said!
It means nothing to be the greatest singer ever if you don’t like the song. It means nothing to be great on any instrument if you don’t like the tune. Music is what matters first and foremost.
Thank you for watching, absolutely music is very subjective and the video is just my opinion, most music that people love is because of what was going on in there lives at the moment they hear the song, and the memories it brings back, that's why music is great, there are many great songs by artist that are not great a singer/player but the feelings it invokes in you make it a great song, Thank you for you comment
WEEKS, MONTHS, YEARS GO BY, AND GREAT.GUITAR PLAYERS, GREAT ALL AROUND MUSICIANS COME AND GO; BUT THERE IS THIS VIRTUE IN RORY'S GUITAR PLAYING THAT YOU DON'T SEE, NOR HEAR IN ANYONE ELSE, REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD THEY MAY BE. AND I AM TALKING ABOUT HIS MULTIDIMENSIONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE INSTRUMENT, AND HIS MUSIC. HE OPENS ALL DOORS TO HIS GUITAR TO LET IT'S SOUL OUT, AND BE 50% OF THE PROTAGONIST; WHILE HE DEEPENS WITH AN ALMOST SACRED DEVOTION INTO THE ESSENCE OF MUSIC, TO EMERGE AS ONE WITH IT, BEING THE OTHER 50%. AND IN DOING THIS, HE MAY MAKE HIS PLAYING LOOK SO EASY FLOWING AT TIMES, WHILE ALSO SHOWING ALL THE SUPERB MASTERY PRESENT IN IT, OTHER TIMES. HE ENDS UP IN A UNIQUE LOVE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS GUUTAR, HIS MUSIC AND HIS AUDIENCE.NO ONE ELSE DOES THAT WITH SUCH CONVINCING POWER. THAT MAKES HIM THE VERY BEST.❤
That Hendrix "comment" about Rory never happened - it's been proven or "debunked" long ago. I met Rory many times and he was a lovely guy - I even played a tribute gig to him for his record company in New York when they released "A Blue Day For The Blues" after he died - and I respect your opinion of him as a guitarist even though I don't agree with it. Rory was a great performer and to his credit he stuck with his blues roots throughout his career. In Ireland the G in the middle of his surname is silent - He's Rory Gall a her.
Thank you for watching, I can't find the Jimi comment anywhere on paper or tape, but Jimi said it about a lot of different players when asked the question, To meet Rory wow, it must be very nice to have them memory's to look back on, Rory to me is such a great player that does not get the credit he deserves, Thank you for your comment ❤
YOU ALL HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN MUSICIANS LEAVE THIS EARTHLY DIMENSION, WE SAY "HE WAS", "SHE WAS". THAT DOESN'T WORK WITH RORY.......HIS GUITAR PLAYING IS....HIS MUSIC IS....HIS TALENT IS...AND ALL OF IT JUST BECAUSE....HE IS.❤
Rory also played saxophone with Taste. I wouldn't say that anyone is the 'greatest' as we all have our favourites, my particular favourite is Bill Nelson when he was with Be - Bop Deluxe, but he's not the greatest, his phrasing appeals to me more than any other guitar player. Frank Marino comes to mind as well, what he can do is without equal, especially when singing as he started off as a drummer so is able to compartmentalise his brain to do more than one thing. I went to the Reading festival in 1980 specifically to see Rory, he didn't let me down or anyone else, the best act that wonderful sunny summer weekend, something that I'll remember even if I get dementia, dragging that old strat across the stage, whipping its lead, making it scream its head off, 30,000 fans going apeshit 😍
I think the performance of Rory was part of the rot setting in, with fast guitar playing in boring songs. A million well played very fluid melodic guitar licks won't save a very boring song. A boring song is a boring song. While Jimi's set was plagued with equipment problems. its really all about the music. I can't imagine spending the time i have in my life i have listened to Hendrix listening to the plain songs of Rory. Great guitar player but music is more than about fretting a fret board. Rory cannot touch Hendrix. Rory was an exceptionally fluid guitarist but the scope of his imagination was limited. Jimi reinvented music and invented many genres. Rory merely a follower/disciple, similar to Page, Blackmore, etc. None are in Hendrix's realm. The next great guitarist after Hendrix was John McLaughlin, who then advanced music further. From McLaughlin, there are the student disciple followers like Holdsworth. Then the next great was Van Halen and all of his 1980s disciples. Rory remained a 1960s throwback, similar to Jimmy Page. These guys were still trying to play 1960s music better while the greater guitar players left them behind in the hippy smoke & dust.
@BarbarraBay hendrix copied earl hooker & everyone he saw on the chitlin' circuit. played sloppy & overrated. only reason he is praised is that he died young.
I agree with you 100%! Rory Gallagher - the best ever! Not only as a guitarist, but as a complete musician.
Thank you for watching, I couldn't agree more ❤
Yes man you are right. He is no 1❤
Thank you for watching ❤
Amen RIP Rory Gallagher saw him in 82 open for Rush !!!!!!!! One of my Favorites ☘☘☘☘☘
Thank you for watching, Bet that was a great gig, Rory had Rush support him when they were starting out, the Rush once established returned the favour by inviting Rory on tour
@@TheReveant888 Great show !!! Yeah i Heard Rush and Rory helped each other out touring with each other
The Band wanted him to play at their Last Waltz film/concert.
Thank for watching, Rory was very loyal and grateful for his fans, and put them before everything else, he was a very rare man both in ability and values, A true Great
All in!.
Yes, keep spreading the news. His fame deserves to keep growing. The Greatest Of All Time!
The truth being told.. Rory is the man
Thank you for watching
Loved what you said about Rory..I'm lucky enough to have a shirt he wore on stage and a t-shirt from his last 2 tours . the May one in 94 until Xmas . and the January 95 one.. his brother Donal gave me.. hope you do more Rory stuff
Thank you for your kind words, two of Rory's t-shirts WOW that's a great memory
Love Rory No 1 to me too 👍
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊

No doubt about it Rory is the GOAT I had the privilege of seeing him twice in concert most exciting guitar player I've ever seen or heard guts passion excitment Rory had it all he could play anything rip legend
Thank you for Watching I never got to see Rory live but I'm sure I would have been even more in awe❤
@@TheReveant888 Watching Rory in concert was a fantastic experience he was my idol growing up and still is to this very day
Great knowledgeable review. Still loved and missed in Ireland. We have a festival every year in his honour.RIP to the master
Thank you for watching, I hope to one day visit and play at the Rory Gallagher festival, ❤
The more great players the better for all to appreciate them.
nice job, thanks
Thanks for watching!
There will never be another Rory, totally unmatched!
He knocked them back lol
On honour
What a dude.
Hope he's jamming with Jimmy and Stevie keeping the big fella up
He deserves it!
Rory's fans met more to him than money, it will be the best gig in the universe with all the Greatest on the same stage ❤ I think it sounds like heaven, just hope I can get a ticket 😂
I don’t like to compare guitar players. It is not a competition.they all have a different story to say.
Rory Gallagher is definitely out of this world.
i completely agree. Hands down the best. Try to replicate him note for note chord for chord. Guitar players find this out all the time.
Very true I think this is why Rory is considered Great by Great guitar players and not Music fans, he makes everything look so simple, until you try to replicate his playing and then you realise Just how Great he really was
Rory was pure heart and soul everything about the man was sublime ❤
Yes, there is no doubt about it. I really appreciate you doing this piece explaining why Rory was the GOAT with a guitar. I've told a similar story to many people, and thankfully, many young people have come to realize that I was right. I've been a major fan of Rory since I was 17 years old, I'm 69 now. I love all of the best guitar players, and I'm familiar with the history, but you, my man, have definitely made my day. Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your comment, hopefully if we keep talking about Rory we can get him the recognition he deserves ❤
Yes indeed Rory IS the greatest EVER!!!!!! Good on you mate,he is,theres no doubt whatsoever!!!!
Agree 100% ❤
Could not agree more
Thank you for Watching ❤️
i saw Rory and is probably my favourite gig on 19th October 1980 at the Top Rank in Cardiff.
Thank you for watching and commenting, it would be nice to get Rory the recognition he deserves
Thank you for watching, I would have loved to have seen Rory and Alvin live both great players such energy and talent ❤
I saw Taste live at Woburn too, but in 1968. Jimi Hendrix was also on the bill.
@@jokermaan1 I missed that one 😞
@@TheReveant888 Alvin, Rory, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, Kim Simmonds my favorite guitarist. Cheers.
I totally agree with you and your video! Nobody played like Rory! He was truly a one of!
How could he be that humble whilst being that incredible, wow.
Thank you for watching, that must have been a good night, He was a real gent
In august 1980 Rory played on Friday night at Sneekweek in the Netherlands. I went there. The day after, round 10 AM, I was talking about the concert with some friends in a record shop. Who was walking in? Rory Gallagher! I was a bit starstruck and only looked at him once. But of of course it's something you never forget.
Thank you for watching and sharing you own account of Rory, Thats a great memory thank you
Definitely the best to ever do it, Rory Gallagher 💯🎸🔥
Thank you for watching, all great players but Rory had something a little more special
Rory is amazing!
Thank you for watching, He most definitely is
I don't like to rank guitarists. It's more to do with how their playing fits the song, or lifts the song up. These contributions to music weigh heavier, to me, than technical prowess. Of which Rory, of course, had plenty.
The no recognition thing is crap he sold over 30,000,000 albums us old fellas know who he is alright
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your kind words, ❤
I see two time in France 1978 and 1980. For me the best!
I couldn't agree more. I first became aware of Rory in the late 70s and he toppled Page, Clapton, Hendrix and Beck off the pedestal and has remained there ever since. He's my biggest influence as a guitar player and always will be.
Gallagher is underrated. Isle of Wight was astonishing and he was just 23. He belongs in the same conversation as Vaughan and JH.
Thank you for watching and commenting ❤
The finest ever. IMHO
Thank you for Watching ❤️
The Best of them all in all time RORY Gallagher
Thank you, Baby. I'm glad you found it interesting, I would have loved to have seen Rory in person. He was a one-off ❤️
I think if you had a conversation (in the after life) with Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore and Rory they would each think one of the others was the best...
Truth
At last you are so right Rory was and is one of the greatest guitarists been a fan of his since I was 15 now am 69 did see him 4 times a real showman
Thank you for watching, I would have loved to have seen Rory live he really was a great performer ❤
Ta for your comment big man , i just bought a treble pedal and it's freekin awesome
The purest of them all!
Rory is dynamite but jimi Hendrix stands alone😳
Thank you for watching. I love Hendrix, too ❤️
I played in bands with guitar player better than Rory Gallagher.
I couldn't agree more, but I would like to add my two cents... the best 3 guitarist and not necessarily in order, rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, jimi Hendrix...
Thank you for watching, All 3 are Great guitarist, I hope I can get a ticket for the big gig in the sky it will be music heaven
👍
You got it spot on man, everything you said is true of Rory all the styles he also was a great slide player and pretty hot on alto saxophone, I never missed a show when he was in my neck of the woods I was so lucky to have meet Rory on 5 occasions, He thought it was so cool that I called my son Rory. so many stories really great memories Cheers man
Thank you for Watching and commenting I hope that you young Rory can play like his namesake ❤
Cried like a. Baby the day he died absolutely gutted. Total legend
No doubt about Rory is the GOAT
Thank you for watching, Personally I don't see Guitarist and music as in competition, but that's not how most guitarists see each other, I once heard it described as gunfighters sizing each other up to see who is the fastest on the draw etc, and the record companies media love a vote on who is the best, it helps sell records and merch, I love both Jimi and Rory in equal measure, and have studied and learned lots form both and many others, to make me the player I am today, I am better than I was but still have a lot to learn, My video is simply my opinion and I felt that Rory shows far more ability than Jimi across the board, But Jimi has had far more impact, is this simply because of marketing and management, Jimi himself was desperate to develop his music in his own way, and was held back by management to make songs that were more commercial, he never really got make the music he wanted, Rory on the other hand had after Taste didn't allow himself to be caught in this trap, He was his own man, and because of this the record companies didn't push or promote Rory's work in the way it should have been promoted, hence why he is less well known, Its a shame Jimi and Rory never played together as that really would have been a sight to behold as they would have bounced of each other like atoms, I made the video to make people think about a great guitarist that never got the recognition he deserves, And like Jimi did I made a bold statement that I believe in my opinion is just, and rattled a few feathers to get The Great Rory Gallagher some attention due,
Thank you for your comments
@bobk5......consider your self special. the host of this video and most of these commenters don't get it or pretend not to get it. As you said, Jimi was a genius.
nuff said!
@@modernmangoman6476 Thank you for watching, not been called special for a long time, so Ill take it thank you for your comment 😘
@@modernmangoman6476 personally I don’t think anyone has or ever will come close to Jimi and he only had around 4 years in the limelight.
Saw him twice he broke a string and changed it but never stopped playing it was unreal
Guitar lists never get it right, but I would say an accurate list would have Rory, Jimi and Jeff Beck in the top 3. Rory = GOAT
Rory is the greatest to me too !! 😎👍
For me personally its Knopfler, but Rory is def among the top 5
Thank you for watching, Knopfler is another great that just doesn't get enough recognition ❤
The Irish hurricane will always be number one!! Rory On !!!

Rory or stevie ray vaughan? I wud rate both better than a lot ! Both very under rated !
Thank you for watching, for me its Rory, but both are great
True rory was the best
Thank you for watching
100% agree
Isle of Wight Rory wasted Hendrix
Headline acts dreaded discovering they were preceded by Taste or Rory Gallagher.
@BarbarraBay wrong guess again. hendrix's songs & playin was bloated crap.no. soul in his playing. dead druggie who used way too many effects
