How sick that she was raped at 12 and continued to be abused by others. We need to do better as a society!
I don’t really trust the sincerity of celebs TBF. The likelihood is, this memoir was damage control. The bisexual threesomes, drug taking, etc, was probably about to be leaked to the press, so, to save her career / reputation, she released a memoir where she was the victim in all of this - not the willing participant who enjoyed it all.
Yeah....how about stopping being a victim and learning from abuse, pain and life's experience. The sad thing nowadays is there's a new woke generation that believe that generations before them had it easy.
She was a classy young woman in the days of American Pie and American Beauty, and she has only become more classy with the passage of time. All the best to her.

First of all - Kevin is Gay and the entire industry knew it. This host took one chapter from a book and tried to twist it to make Kevin look like a predator but failed!

American Beauty is story of a Man having a Mid=Life Crisis and falling in Love with a Young Woman who happens to be in High School.
Sexual orientation is not necessarily compatible with who a child predator chooses to sexually abuse non consensually.

Poor interview. There is a so much more we could have learned had the interviewer not try to sensationalize the interview.
Horrendous interview. First of all, there’s a lot of static on the mic throughout, probably from rubbing against fabric. Very distracting. But the most shocking thing was how Tamron very clearly had an agenda and was trying to use the Kevin Spacey alleged abuse scandal (he was cleared in both the civil and criminal trials) to skew this interview. She makes no attempt to hide her stank face and shady side eye throughout. She interrupts Mena and speaks over her and looks irritated and impatient. She comes across as having an obvious disdain for Mena. It doesn’t feel at all respectful or impartial.
This poor young woman still appears to be broken, I'm praying she gets counseling her thoughts were all over the place. My lord!

And you know what I'm sure that of course she got counselling, tons of it, maybe that's why she explains so WELL..she went through rape,addictions etc and got "out of the situation".just like that?no!everybody pushes everybody to get counselling anyway(and I lived in L.A I feel it was extremely.."accepted", no judgment), after even ONE trauma you tell a friend or a colleague..they even share numbers of their own shrink😂.it is sooo common there was even free help in L.A, this lady got money and connections... I'm sure she didn't stop drinking drug etc without any counselling. I'm not even "for counselling" as I don't know if it truly works. But I don't see how someone like her, surrended with many pple could NOT have had it, even for years. The result (IF counselling helps...I try for myself but IDK if I lose my money) seems really GOOD on her. I find you a bit tough...her explaining soooo well, being calm, writing a book ..makes me wanna buy it

Sinead herself shaved her head and refused to wear sexy clothes in response to the lecherous music industry executives. Interesting that people felt Mena shaving her head was so outlandish. what fucks me up is Tamron trying to characterize an adult woman being held by an adult man with consent as if he is holding a 13 year old child. What Mena describes sounds more like Kevin attempting to comfort someone and she accepted that. Whether she had feelings based upon her past after the fact is irrelevant. This wasn't predatory.

Sounds like appropriate and unnecessary sexual behaviour in the workplace to me. There was still a large age and power gap between the two, and that creates pressure on the recipient to go along with it. But Spacey never worries about any of that - he doesnt care about whats inappropriate or not, just whatever he feels like doing.

His role was creepy, and it was meant to be, because it was telling a story that actually happens in real life. These stories are necessary. He also played a serial killer in Seven. That doesn't mean that anyone on the set was actually afraid of him. It's art.

A wonderful discussion to listen to. Many who have experienced this, it resonates. I had an inkling seeing the clips of American beauty that she had this history and now learning I picked up on it, makes me sad to know what she was coerced into doing even tho she didn't really realised what harm it would do later on to her self-esteem. The men around her were selfish and thinking only about themselves, but their action lead to a lifelong dispare for her. So sad yet I'm happy she is getting her story out. Thanks for sharing!
Nothing was wrong with American Beauty or Kevin Spacey. She was comfortable. This is not sexual abuse. Happy it is still streaming and going to buy it since it ay disappear lol Her other allegations, feel much empathy with her. Nott right

Im disgusted by her line of questioning. Tamron hall, in my opinion, was trying to steer her towards saying something foul about kevin spacey. Im glad Mrs. Suvari stayed away from that.
American Beauty always disturbed me. Especially the relationship between her and Kevin's character..I never watched it again after first time. The fact it got awards speaks to how acceptable that sh** was.
I believe the movie was meant to be disturbing. Nornally in a movie the main guy is a hero but here the protagonist is not a great guy, he's fixated on a school girl. Still it was filmed and directed really well and the fact that it is a movie that still has humour despite the disturbing undertones is quite the feat. Not all films are meant to make us comfortable and I believe it deserved the awards.

It's a fantastic movie that touched me deeply.
At the end the character does realize the error of his infatuation and refuses her advances. I think ultimately it was meant to be about the desire to be young and optimistic again...and finding beauty in the mess of life.
The movie was pretty weird but with a meaning behind it. Consider it as top tier
