Saw Mark E Smith & The Fall many times live in Manchester UK 🇬🇧 . Some were awesome , some were absolutely dreadful . He had a bit of a reputation as being hard to work with , no wonder there were so many line - up changes in the band over the years . But yeah, a unique band .
@jameseadie7145 that's Brix Smith. She married Mark E Smith, the guy singing. He was definitely punching above his weight. But that's talent for you. 😊
I was part of a discussion panel with Brix 2 years ago at a festival I was part of, discussing clothes and punk. she mentioned the green shirt she is wearing here which makes it more special as the quality been improved gives it more flair!
I don’t think it’s too grandiose to say what we have here is the summit of human cultural development and everything since has been an inexorable decline and descent into the abyss.
I am across the pond in America. I was introduced to the Fall via college radio (WVVS, Valdosta State, GA.) in the late '80s and was almost immediately hooked. With their releases in that era I just knew they would eventually break big. Great riff driven but sneakily complex songs with excellent musicianship. And a quirky, magnetic leader. But I suppose the world was not ready.
I got into them in GA as well, in statesboro. Found a used cd (infotainment scan) in the town’s only indie music shop at the time, and that was the starting point for my weird and wonderful journey towards discovering The Fall. There was simply nothing else that sounded like them, and there still isn’t, a few pale imitations aside.
@@sandyatkins6978 I actually had a weird Georgia connection with my introduction to The Fall, but it was by way of Salem, Oregon in 1987. On clear nights I could pick up the radio signal of an independent radio station in Portland, Or. I was listening one night and they were interviewing the band Love Tractor, from Athens, GA. The host asked the band what other bands they were currently listening to, and the reply was something like "pretty much the only band we listen to these days is The Fall". Being a big fan of Love Tractor and the bands from Athens, I decided I needed to check out The Fall. 40 something album purchases later and I'm still a huge fan to this day. Thanks for the recommendation Love Tractor!
I'm very pleased to say I saw the Kurious Oranj show at Sadler's Wells, with Michael Clark's lot leaping around in wigs, Brix on a big burger, giant french fries falling from the sky, and a game of human table football. I thought it was epic, my then-girlfriend not so much. Love The Fall so much, must have at least one dose a day. Thanks MES, and the 66 (?) others who came and went over the years. Always brilliant to see and hear you.
@MarkOLeary-x5e 😁That was funny because YT thought it was a good idea to delete my comment and I did wonder for a moment what your reply was regarding. No offence, pal!
Marcia Schofield on keys. OMG 😍Gives Patricia Morrison a run for her money in the eye candy department...........Fab track. MES you crazy genius. Ok ,this misses the intro, but who's complaining? Great quality. 👍
Yes I loved looking at Brix. But it was Marcia who I really fancied like hell. She is supposed to have been a stripper in her student days before she joined the Fall.
@@keithbate9405 I'd believe that. Marcia has some smouldering dance moves in Barry Adamson's The Man With The Golden Arm music video. No wonder Brix wanted her in a fat suit for The Fall's Victoria video!!!
@@downundertuneage3875 Marcia just smolders . Did you know she is now a Doctor of Science (Biology I think ) and lectures at a Welsh University. The students think she is very cool for having been in the fall.

I just found out about these folks through this video, don't know how I got here, but the watch History shows I was watching some video about 174 and 285 Hz solfeggio frequencies, which is the first of those frequencies videos that I dug for a change. I could almost swear they transported me to here. Then I watched a lot of other fall videos, looked up some bios and discographies. I really like these people, they are quite a bit like me....
How you can put so much effort and look so dope into one basic riff is unbelievable. Brix is the epitome of cool and has never been surpassed and I’m no Fall fan really. Posers like PJ Harvey would have killed to be as cold as she was in the Fall. Awesome.
Fantastic footage of The Fall #iconic kinda like what Lux Interior and Poison Ivy had going on in the chemistry lab between Mark E. Smith and Brix Smith. 🕶️
Just great band on vinyl, on tape and definitely live. You never knew what you were getting live but always impressed. Must of been hot in the studio for Mark to take the leather suit jacket off.
Only really recently that I began to appreciate the Fall, thanks to MyTameside community radio's 70's & 80's shows. Sadly no more; both the band and the radio station..
