Having this video out before the set releases is pretty cool! I like the improvements to the guns and the engines - I think they’re both too small on the official version.
Just looking at the dimension from the left to the right the scale on the official version looks mostly fine. The white engine piece looks okay but they made the red piece smaller, even though it's supposed to have the same diameter. The turrets are way to small. Even with this mod they are too small. The engines a bit to large on this one are too close together. The engine don't hug the pilot like that 6:04 but you probably have to make further adjustments to get that right. Lego seems to have messed up the length to wing span ratio quite a lot. I think it's okay for a lego set but if you want a more accururate model you need a lot of fixes.
@@TheBrixHub please make a build tutorial for a lego version of the Star Wars Book Of Boba Fett creature known as a Tatooine Sand Ape from the book of boba fett season 1 episode 1 please
I'd love to see the gap get filled as well in the back and the back engines get fixed. But overall this looks amazing. I can't wait for you to get your hands on this.
I just got my set in the mail, was so excited to have my first version of the arc-170. Nostalgia aside, there can always be tune-ups to every LEGO set. This one however, could definitely be modified to be a few studs larger on the x, y and even the z-axis for better proportions. The engine parts you made for the front were great, just seems like a lot of pieces which would then make the overall price of the set go up. I really do like the modifications you made on your own version tho, definitely something to speculate.
I glad I was recommended this video - I felt like I was the only one who didn't quite like this version of this ship. Very awesome edits!! Also, I enjoyed the talking and didn't find you to be rambling. You are just passionate and it's really fun to watch!
The new model you made looks amazing. You explain both points of views for LEGO's model very well also. I for one dislike LEGO's design, but once I modify it like this one... then it will be what it should have been in the beginning. Just my opinion though. Can't wait for the tutorial to be released!
Love these mods definitely elevated the model. The engines were too small, and the guns as well. It might even be worth lengthening the wings a bit (2-4 studs) and then this would literally be perfect.
I typically don't like the 2x2 turn plate for being too loose, but unless the R2 unit has a personality there's not much point to having a body and it's essentially never apart from the Ship so totally agree just using the head.
Personally I really like the fact that Lego is making the ships smaller yet more accurate and neat. As an adult I only have so much space available so these highly detailed and small builds are really awesome fore me!
Comparing it to the battle front 2 model since it gives a very high quality render, the engines, guns, and droid port are perfect for your version. Although you can see the s-foils do reach the red portion of the wings so extending those may be more accurate, also, the engines aren't entirely made up for the lego set version as the BF2 model does have that outward flair on the shaft shaping, its just the engine exhaust nozzle that seems wrong. Something id like to see is the grey gaps on top of the s-foils where the wing connects to the body which aren't on either Lego set nor modified, would make it extremely accurate imo.
Have you considered extending the wing-mounted laser cannon length even more? I think canonically, (pun intended) they extended just past the nose of the starfighter
The gray line across the black circle thing in the engines was actually in an official set from a while ago, the custom anakin skywalker star fighter and they used a sticker
Could you release the instructions for this or show a tutorial on how to do it? Your mod is by far my favorite for this new set and I want mine to look like it when I get it
People seem to forget that Lego sets are never scaled correctly. All that matters is whether the scale they do is done right. Imperial Troop Transport? Too small and scaled badly. The new ARC 170? I'd say it's scaled pretty well and while it's small, it retains all the features and details necessary
When you upload the tutorial could you add a list in the description with the names of the extra parts needed so we know what we need to buy separately? A lot of guides just show the pieces to viewer which isn’t great when you don’t know the names. I devo wanna do this when I get mine.
Well done. I dont like the nose of the official model. I was thinking about fixing it with a half round 2x1 tile, I think your solution is more secure.
5:12 except quick google search is enough to tell you that this is very accurate. The engines have this exact shape. Wide white cilinder going into black/dark grey thinner one into wide dark grey one. It is very much accurate to how it is in the movie and on other toy versions of this ship. Also, although engines are slightly more to scale, even if depending on which source you take model from they seem to either be right or too big, I have to imagine them being not really too stable, as well as make cockpit a bit less stable as well. Although that's fine for custom modification, I absolutely disagree with a notion some people in comment section have that this should have been the official set instead. Honestly, I like official set enough to not see a reason to modify it at all. It looks well in scale with other recent vehicles, and only thing that's completely inaccurate to all portrails in the media are wings that are just ever so slightly too short.
I agree with you on this not being a replacement for the official set This is purely an upgrade of visuals, and I guarantee the playability will suffer
I rebuild the previous ARC from my childhood lego graveyard last month. Then i saw the new release and was like, how did this go backwards?.. You really summed it up, and fixed all their mistakes. great work
The fact that the Lego Moc community can make sets 10x better is sad this set hasn't even come out yet and he's already modified it and it's looks way better still think $70 is robbery though
Figures look great, not going to complain one bit about that, upgrades all around. The ARC-170 itself though is meh. 1000% has teeny tiny engines and just looks wimpy as is. I love the upgrades, makes it look a ton better.
It seems like the Lego Star Wars designers do the bare minimum these days. How is it possible that fans/ enthusiasts spend a fraction of the effort and come up with designs that are actually worthy of being called official sets? I've just about had enough.
Compare it to the jedi interceptor. The new 170 is to damn small. And the x wing. The width for the wings is to damn similar to the new 170. The real arc 170 wings are much bigger than the x wing.
And? I'm going to build this once it releases. God forbid I use a free method to test out a build before I sink money into it. Please don't leave silly comments like this

Agreed! I'm really happy that I made these changes, hopefully they'll mean that the tutorial can come out when the set releases :)

Awesome! :)

The original set was already beautiful. You managed to make it better. Really, really great job!
Will you make a list of pieces we will need for this? I would love to do this exact modification!
This is sick. If you make a tutorial on how to do this when it is released I will totally do it. Keep it up bro!

Waiting for the tutorial vid!!’

too bad that for 70 bucks they couldnt afford to add dual molded legs

Perfect mods indeed. Much better engine nacelles and weapons. I hate those missile shooters, too.

I plan to buy all 3 versions. I must admit my favourite still even with your mods is the 8088 set.
Tutorial!!!❤❤
tutorial video coming soon?
just watched this a second time now its out hoping a new vid was out lol
yep :DD

I like how im the old 2000s set the side opened with the canopy, and that the engines were wheels

Well I had notice it was a bit smaller compare to the other 170s I have. Makes it easier for playing it

This is perfect
I really like the engines on the old sets. Can you fit those wheel pieces on the front of the engines now that you’ve thinned down the fuselage?
I think it's possible to, yeah!
This is how the arc 170 should have released
What pieces did you use for the engines? Definitely going to try this

70 dollars is absolute insanity
Is there a way to modify the tailgun? Because of the angle it can't really move left and right only up and down and which is very sad for a tailgun 😁
