  • The average power outage in the US is 6 hrs in length and happens most frequently between 4pm-7pm. Some states like Louisiana have an average power outage of 24 hrs! While just to the west in Texas, power outages last approx 10 hrs.
Most people charge their smart phone 1.35 times per day. Most phones have less than 40% batter power by 5pm. Combine these stats with the above power outages and having a flashlight for atypical situation carry (ASC) and disaster situations makes even more sense.
In this episode, I explain the data, options, and how to apply flashlights of a specific design to moments of ASC and disaster.

I live in the Imperial Valley California and our electricity is supplied by the Imperial Irrigation District who have a great job keeping the lights on. Over the past 11+ years I have been here is a grower at a large commercial nursery we have had not even a hand full of very brief outages. We do have quite a few wind storms especially in the winter and spring and we do get tropical weather. Outages are a very serious thing for a nursery where pumps and water booms keep the plants alive.

I have in-laws in California and they don't experience much for outages either. Must be a sporadic. Thanks for watching!

I have a friend who's dad once told me... Proper preparation prevents poor performance. That has stuck to me over the years. I HATE not having what I need when I need it and that's why I prep. When loadshedding was at its peak in SA we had 12 to 16 hours without power daily...Everyday... For months. Lately we have had consistent power for months. Its odd haha! We have layers... Candles and flashlights and power banks with built in lights. That cap and lighting system on the 21700 battery seems very handy! The a-typical carry is probably the torches you need to get before looking at tactical lights. Man that Sofirn Q8 is a beast! I like the T1. It just works for me. Great suggestions for car carry bro! The only thing I would add is some adhesives. Something to fix a radiator hose or plug a radiator for example. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Hope you have a great day man!

When I when through the frequency of power outages in the US and saw the vast differences, that struck me as something with wild variability. Exactly as you’ve just said, preparing to even out those moments of resource scarcity may not take much but to try to glide through it without any redundancy is asking for unnecessary problems. Things are going well here my friend. Have a great week!

@@Realidealgear For sure man! Rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. The world is too unpredictable for good men to not have proper tools to help themselves and those Gog put in their lives. Good to hear man! May God keep it so! Take care bro! 💪💪

4 clicks from off activates the lock-out; 4 clicks unlocks.

When you click 4Xs, you’ll see a ‘Roger Flash’ of the top light and then the button won’t work until you deactivate lockout with same 4 clicks.
