It's not hard to be a sci-fi writer with a distaste and skepticism of America. Kojima's anti-American storytelling just happened to be prophetic. I remember in MGS2 when we were told there would be AI that would automatically censor our online speech and internet archives. He was right. I won't even bother to mention the predictability of American politics from Revengeance.
I can't deny Kojima's creativity, attention to detail and eye for aesthetics and presentation but good God he needs an editor, his writing is atrocious. I was very excited for Silent Hills because he was going to co-direct it with Del Toro and I imagined he'd help Kojima focus and give direction to a his vision, sadly it got cancelled. As a game director/designer I'd agree he's a genius, but as a writer? Hell no.
These essays of yours are really good - you have a great sense of what's worth talking about and what could be left out. A lot of videos like this are very bloated, but you keep it tight and focused.
I think the smartest thing they could do was move AWAY from Kojima's gameplay and give us a game like Revengeance. Way more action, way more excitement. I just hope we can get more Gradius and Contra games because Konami seems to be in limbo.
The answer is: he's not a genius, just an overhyped director that wants to make movies, not games. His writting has anime-level shenanigans, and from solid 1 to 3 he had talented people around to improve his scripts.

He went to college and had a family with strong good moral values.

Kojima killed Konami and games as pretentious cinematic experiences is killing gaming.
Kojima is mid and this new game is cringe.
