Freeze is by far the most sympathetic villain in Batman's rogue gallery.
He is scared of losing someone he loves and is willing to do whatever it takes to save them.
Feels weird to see Freeze portrayed any other way after the way Batman: TAS portrayed him.

That's very true. I had a dream one time about the Lego Batman movie, but the focus was on freeze. At some point in the story, Freeze touches the glass chamber his wife is in, and remembers with guilt and shame earlier he aimed a weapon at Dick. What I'm trying to get to is that Barbara, the new commissoner, makes a deal with Freeze that if they give him all the resources he needs to save Nora, he'll have to dedicate the rest of his life to curing others of their diseases. Freeze immediatley said yes, because he only cares of Nora's endurance. His life afterwards doesn't matter.

When we have ignorance, we tend to blame others for our mistakes.
Instead of stealing from others because of mistrust, we could just share with them our gifts. Maybe even one day, we would be rewarded by karma.

He's a heartbroken lover who will do anything to get his wife back, and I mean _anything._ Murder, theft, kidnapping, torture, terrorism - he's crosses so many lines at this point, why not? Strange was 1000% correct. He does have a stone cold heart. And the only reason why he loved Nora so much is really cause he's never really loved or cared about anything or anyone besides himself until he met her. And he actually believes that no one has ever loved anyone the way he loves his wife. Which is stupid, nonsense, and almost narcissistic even. Saving her life is more for his own sake than it is hers

    • @Spongebrain97
      @Spongebrain97 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Strange is partially correct but compared to all of the interviews he does, you can hear the frustration in his tone when he talks to Mr Freeze. I think it's because he's a sociopath who doesn't care about other people at all and has no compassion. He's never loved anyone whereas Mr Freeze is the opposite. His whole life he did crimes to help other people whether it was to save animals or his wife.
Strange is annoyed by this and gaslights Mr Freeze into thinking he's a selfish person when he's really not. He is a criminal yes but he didn't commit crimes because they were fun or to enrich himself but he had a desperate need to help others but just did it the wrong away. To Strange, he's triggered that Mr Freeze wasted his genius on helping others instead of helping himself

That's actually the angle they play with Mr. Freeze in his One Bad Day comic. It's clear he loves Nora, but in a very possessive way. Almost like she's his property. Still, you see that Nora did love the man under the need for strict control, and hopes he can be the man she fell in love with again

Doesn't change the fact that Hugo was absolutely right though. All Freeze could say in response was "rawr revenge" in some form or another, never disputing what Hugo tells him.
Granted, it doesn't help that I have little sympathy for characters who constantly go "boo hoo, poor me" yet don't give a scuttering fuck about who they hurt to achieve their goal. It's also one of the reasons who I dislike Harley as well.

A man driven to incredible lengths to bring back the only woman he ever loved......going so far that not even death itself could stop him. Imhotep had his Ankhesenamun, Victor has his Nora. Unfortunately, their end is always tragic.....they are destined to lose their only love, and in the process...lose themselves.

@CheesyGranola Well Paul Dini wrote this game, who also reinvented his character in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Heart of Ice." Although there are obvious differences between them, we can assume many similarities.
In that episode, Victor didn't excactly steal company resources. The cryongenic project had been approved by Gothcorp executives, but when Ferris Boyle started realizing how much money it was costing he suspended the project. Unfortunately Nora was already frozen.

Still, the good point said by Strange is that IF Freeze had done what he did in the limits of the law (by trying to work with GothCorp, and by asking for help), it would have been faster to cure Nora. Besides, nothing says that Nora will be saved in the story of the Arkham-verse. But if they can do the same storyline the was continued with Batman Beyond (with Freeze deterioring, becoming mad, then being kept alive as a head and cloned in the future), that could be badass.

  • @markuscriticus8278

Too bad that in the comics, he's just a crazy asshole. Yeah, the whole thing about Nora? In the comics, he accidentaly kills her and just wants to make everyone suffer as much as he did. And while that makes the sympathy go out the window, atleast there is a sense of tragedy in it, since even at his worst, he was motivated by his loss and clearly still loved her. In the New 52, he never met Nora, he's just a creepy stalker.

But im sure a talented guy out there somewhere can recreate it by sound recognition, and many monotonous hours of tedious tinkering though. Ive seen it done with others. Like the scream movie voice, Bane voice etc. Some people are so good, they can make an indistinguishable version so close to the original that you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Hold out hope. Someone will do it at some point.
