      Welcome, now that you know it works, I'd flush the old fluid, at least a pan flush and filter change. This means your old fluid broke down and was no longer doing what it needed to do.

    I had the same issue. I drove approx 40k miles like that. Indeed its a torque converter issue. However, I did a simple flush after dropping the pan and seeing minimal material on the magnet. Changed the filter, had zero issues for 60k miles now. Its a hit and miss. However, sometimes; at least in my scenario, you end up with good results. Doing a flush is indeed potentially catastrophic. You flush all that friction material out if your transmission is bound to go out. But, if you don't have that much material and your fluid had some color to it, it should be fine. LV and SP have different friction modifier in them. Yes, they can cause (CAN doesn't mean WILL) cause issues. The additive you saw in the video is simply a friction modifier as well. MIGHT I add, 6R75 transmissions have a pulse sent to the lockup portion. Meaning if you have that transmission, it's shuddering between 30 - 47mph chances are the fluid is just broke down.

    • @aDIYCarGuy
      @aDIYCarGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A little while after this I did a pan flush w/ no filter change just as a start to general maintenance on it and to see if it would hold up, it's been working fine. I plan to do another pan flush with filter change soon.

    What's in that bottle is a three part acid a Amine alkaline phosphate which makes it a SUPER ACID... My guess is the acid is clearing sludge blocking in the transmission and it's amazing how instantly the results are. Shudder I believe is from old transmission fluid and the acid just solidifies it.

    • @AP-bo1if
      @AP-bo1if 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      isn't it a friction modifier though? if what you say is true that it clears blocked pathways, then it would be a permanent fix. but a lot of people that use it say it only works temporarily. or maybe after some time another tube needs to be added again?

    • @rafaelacosta5724
      @rafaelacosta5724 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AP-bo1ifit only works temporarily because more atf keeps burning, cresting varnish and, if not flushed, there's too much burned oil and varnish for the transmission to work properly.
      Sounds like the atf must be flushed after a month of applying the insta shudder fixx.

    I have a 2015 3.5 eco boost with 6r80 transmission and I’m hoping this finds someone and helps them. About 4 days ago I started getting a shudder out of nowhere. Could use cruise control and sport and tow/haul modes and it would still do it. Went in for a transmission flush (200 dollars at Krause ford near me in Georgia) and to my surprise it eliminated it! Was doing it it many times on the way there. No issues at all now! Good luck. Maybe try a flush before converter replacement. It ended up being worth it for me

  • @abe2ham
    @abe2ham 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yeah bud, at that mileage of 178k I can assure you just by looking at the color of your trans fluid that the clutch inside the torque converter, o/d & reverse bands, clutch pack friction discs are worn out and need replacing full rebuild. I’ve seen so many people neglect changing trans fluid because they believe and fall for the factory service maintenance scheduled interval as being “life long” fluid which is an obvious total bs scheme flat out lie.
    No such thing as a “life long” fluid, all fluids simply breakdown with heat and collect debris fallout plus electrolysis over time.
    Replace auto trans fluid n filter on ford every 60k miles, capable of hitting 250k miles before needing rebuild
