What a touching story. Mental illness is no joke and our emotions, feelings and self-worth are important. No one should be dismissed or told to snap out of it or to get over it. Empathy and compassion are necessary in a person’s support system. Thank you so much for highlighting this, Illumeably.

Being an overthinker is fine. At least you know your weakness because now you have a chance to work on it. Other people are not that privileged to know what they struggle with, and as they go on in life, they continue to wonder why they're going through so much. But at least you know your struggle so now you can make it better. Where you are weak, you are strong.

Monica should've left this jackass and gotten into therapy. I don't buy the husband transforming from abusive to good all because of a day of housework, a talking-to from the friend, and reading the mental health issues his wife had already TOLD him about verbally, only for him to dismiss Monica as whining and making excuses for not doing housework. If Monica telling him how she was feeling didn't do anything to change him, I don't see how reading her diary would change anything.

That to hear that you enjoy what you do, that makes a huge difference :)
Most of us men are not monsters, as much as the media may disagree. There are billions of us and you take thousands or even millions, hell, even tens of millions of us men, that still accounts for a very small percentage of us :)
All that most of us want is equality, but yes, when mental health issues come into play it does change things.
When someone comes home from work, put the laundry in the hamper, the shoes where they should be, the dishes in the sink and so on, and let the homemaker know how much he/she is appreciated :)
Also, when someone does something they are not use to it is generally noticeably harder than when they know what they are doing inside and out, or at least knowing it well enough :)

Love this story so many things that woman was feeling is exactly the same way that I am feeling. My husband blames me for everything he doesn't hear me he isn't appreciative of anything I do. I am a housewife and he thinks what I do is so easy and he doesn't know. He says if I worked as many hours as he does I would understand. What he doesn't get is I spend alot of hours doing everything around here. He thinks that he should just come home and sit down and relax and thats it no that isnt it for me. I have had and still have some health issues but he doesn't care at all. This is such a right on video for me Thank you for this video. I am hoping I can get my husband to listen to this video and then tell him its what I am feeling too. I don't feel like going into dark places but I certainly feel alone in this marriage. But I have the Lord and so I don't feel alone when I pray and talk to the Lord causes he listens to me and cares and loves me

11:50 At the risk of sounding like I'm mansplaining, what Monica REALLY needs is to leave this emotionally abusive POS and find a good therapist to help her through her issues. I don't buy an abusive husband suddenly turning good because he had to do housework for a day, got a telling-off from his wife's friend, and read his wife's diary. In the case of the last thing, Monica had already told him how she was feeling verbally and he just dismissed it as her whining and making excuses for not doing housework, so I don't see why reading those concerns would be any different.
TL,DR version: Illumeably and other life lesson channels need to stop making it seem easy for an abusive partner to suddenly turn around and be completely wonderful and understanding.

Since the beginning of this year I started journaling in order to see my progress with changing my daily habits and just living a healthier life. This was around the time I got a new job working in the office, but I work from home most days. I quickly realized being at home all day everyday was taking a toll. My journal quickly turned into a diary filled with my negative thoughts and feeling, and when darkness is all you feel its all you can think about. The stress of working, keeping your partner satisfied and supported, house work tore me down. Bit by bit I found myself in my own dark well consumed by an inner demon, it was hard to express myself because its not like you can simply put it into words. No one can understand unless they've been through it and most men aren't prone to overbearing thoughts and feeling such as these. I became so frustrated and annoyed with myself for how I was feeling and the things I constantly told myself, it wasn't healthy. It truly took an effect on my will to live and my relationship. Theres nothing really out there to tell you how to move past it but feeling like your supported is huge in the healing process. When you truly understand the root of your wounds its a start but the journey out of your dark pit is a lot harder. I dont think there is anything I can say to help anyone else going through this situation, you can only fight and find things that help you on a daily to....not suppress but deal with that inner demon. Things that helped me were, journaling, affirmations via widgets apps, and other apps like Bloom are amazing. Therapy can be scary but Bloom is self therapy and it has been a huge part in my healing process. I would also like to encourage you to find joy in things you love, you need to balance your life with all the things youre doing which bring you down. Learning something new or pick up something you used to do. Start reading, find peace in nature or spirituality. Ive also found oracle cards are affirming when you really focus your energy. Ive now bought a Tarot deck to hopefully open my mind more and help keep me on a positive path towards the fulfillment i desire for my future. I appreciate you reading all this and I hope it has helped in some way. Find and love yourself xoxo

I'm a stay at home mom and I felt this way for a long time. Maybe not so dramatic with the yelling and pulling at my hair, but the overwhelming anxiety and depression of just feeling so alone, hopeless, and useless is so spot on. My husband was the same. Just knows work and thinks anyone not doing anything is useless. I got into therapy and it really helped to change my outlook. I still struggle, but I'm not in deep like I was. I lost my insurance because now we're financially struggling. Haven't been able to find an office job to help, I hope we will recover soon so I can continue therapy. I used to write poems to cope with my feelings, but stopped several years ago. Think I should start again.

I feel like if I went through with marrying my ex, this is what I would’ve of had to go through. Being a housewife is EXACTLY what he would’ve forced me to be because “women are supposed to have children, take care of the house, and not have an actual job.” He always had me do things for HIM. Like he’d always have me take the dishes to the conveyor belt to be washed and get his drinks. Rarely, if ever, acted like a gentleman. Only ever did that on our first 3 dates. Then he made me go out to my car in the dark by myself and would NEVER wait on me. On the sidewalk, I’d always be on the outside, not the inside away from the road. A few people pointed it out that I should be on the side away from the cars, but he never listened to them.

Married couples really need to communicate with each other, listen to each other’s feelings & concerns. A woman is more likely to get down & feel unappreciated & anxiety begins. Prayer is the answer to every problem we may face in life. If it wasn’t for praying, reading my Bible & really trusting in Jesus Christ as not only my Savior; but my dearest Friend; I wouldn’t have made it this far. Everyone needs someone that will listen & be there for you, & many times it’s not your husband, because men don’t tend to understand this problem & therefore; run from it. That’s no reason to give up on them & your marriage, but instead get on your knees & spend time with the One that loves you more than anyone else could. He came to this world, did good things, healed all that were sick, performed miracles & gave His life for you & me on an old wooden cross.✝️😢 But, on the 3rd day, He arose from the tomb & gave His Disciples the Plan of Salvation to share with all nations; to me & you. There’s Nothing too hard for Him. Don’t give up on yourself, your Marriage or others; learn that Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. Read Isaiah 53:5, John 1:1-3 & 14, Acts chapter 2. It will bless your life. Read John 10:10 also, because then you will understand the culprit behind depression, anxiety etc. I pray for everyone that is going through this or something similar; Jesus really loves you & He IS the answer. With Love & Prayers, Sister Pat 💓👏🙌

This is one of the mental health issues that is hardly ever addressed. Showing it in thiis way is brilliant. I am sure like me there are many men and women out there who go through the same torment and was never resolved. This helped to enlighten people to the situation and to seek help.

Nobody deserves to be ignored. Despite all the pros and cons about life, at the end, you still have a lot to offer. I struggled with anxiety and autism spectrum disorder, but I learned to be more grateful. I’m grateful for my family, bowling, biking, vacations, and drumming! What are you grateful for?

I absolutely loved this. Her friend is awesome, always there for her and she managed to convey what was going on with her to her husband, which opened his eyes as it was coming from a source other than his wife. He'd just gotten himself in the habit of not believing anything she was trying to tell him. Awesome ending!!!! It's easy to feel overwhelmed, and she will probably still have those days where she does, but she has her husband to be by her side to share those days with now. This could easily have had a horrible ending. Depression can lead someone down a darker path. Glad she finally got his support and empathy. Good video!
