Antonio Bandares has the best vampire voice and Kristen did a great performance for such a young girl
I saw the movie first, and I like it so much that I read the book. It opened up a whole new world for me. Anne Rice is an amazing writer.
Books 1-3 I enjoyed alot. And also one or two of the later ones - but I enjoyed those less consistently.
Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. Her vampire books is in my collection. This is one of my favorite vampire movies!
As a fan of the book. I found this an appealing version.
I wish they started with the vampire Lestat. Better story. And sets up the future stories

The show is amazing! The acting, the writing just everything. There are some people upset about it because they did change the race of Louis. They made him black. Played by Jacob Anderson who played Greyworm on Game of Thrones. It does work in my opinion though because the writers fully committed to it. They didn't half ass it. Definitely worth a watch.
I have a feeling there are 'parts' of the show that Mr Logical here would have a hard time getting through - although it would be fun to watch ;)
"Blade" and "Vampire Hunter D" both contain characters that had Vampire Parents.
Both are worth checking out (or reacting to, because $).

oh man def my fav vamp movie, back when cruise was cast for his range and not his connections.
a part 2? yes "queen of the damned", different cast, same book series. pretty good too, the main star died just before finishing the movie so they had to get a new one, but she did just as good imo andonly covered the last lil bit of the movie
I always wondered if there was a producer or studio brave enough to turn Memnoch the Devil into a movie. But I doubt there ever will.
The show is worth the watch. Well written, well filmed. Full warning, does not shy away from the gay aspects of lestat and louis.
I.e. it turns them up to 11, and throws in a couple of extra long, unnecessary-feeling solos
Hey hey hey BLADE is a Marvel movie, concerns vampires, and remains one of the more entertaining comic-to-film installments, even though it's older.
The CGI hasn't aged well, but like Spawn I will always love it.
If you want a unique take on a vampire movie I highly recommend Daybreakers. It Stars Ethan Hawke and William Defoe. It’s such an underrated film.
The new series is fantastic. I like it better than the book or movie i hope you react to it

In the books, Louis supposes that Lestat made him a vampire because he wanted his great wealth. But Lestat later reveals that he had fallen in love with Louis and his humanness.
If I remember correctly Lestat was almost killed and was sort of an undead corpse that was sleeping under the city. occasionally a rat or other creature would come close enough to him where he could eat it. and it took hundreds of years for him to regenerate enough to wake up, and he woke up because of a rock band playing above him.
when a vampire has a baby it becomes Blade, the day walker
Just look for "Queen of the damned" Its about Lestat. Now alot of folks didn't like it but I think it was great. Its a bit different. I think you will enjoy it tho.
Bram strokers dracula with gary ildman shows vlads origin and the movie does stray a lot from the book but really close to his origin
I like this movie, which has very mixed reception, but if you have the time, read the amazing novel, it's one of my favorites. Being a vampire would be awesome, I'd only harvest terrible human beings, and you can basically just hibernate when the world is at a low point, which i wish I could have done at least the last ten years, and the next four. I've always been a night owl since i was young, but for years I worked 9pm to 5am a graveyard shift, and that felt more natural to me.
Thank you for watching this. Blade now is a much needed follow up. And maybe Underworld.

The best part about these vampires is that they don't sparkle.
Vlad the impaler was bram strokers insperation for dracula, vamperism is a curse, holy symbols, pure metals like silver and gold, and garlic is the original lore, a wooden steak in the heart will kill anything so i dont think thst counts, later lore vampires couldnt cross running water but that gets over looked all the time, the invited into your home dont know where that lore comes from. But for the most powerful undead species vampires have way too many rules.
To me, the general idea of living forever and eating evil humans is appealing, but the risk of being captured and trapped forever in a box by other vampires without the relief of death is not a risk i could ever accept. I would live in constant fear of that possibility.
You don't seem to be picking up on the homoerotic themes in this movie. They didn't put it as much in the movie as they did in the books, but is there. You keep asking why Lestat wanted Louis. Why would anyone want to chose someone as their partner, especially for eternity? Sharing blood for vampires is the equivalent of sex. Them making Claudia was them making her their daughter.
Lestat wanted a companion. Forever is a long time to live

If you get a chance, muster through the book Dracula, by Brahms Stoker. It's very dry, but a good read.
Anyone have an opinion on the AMC+ TV series? I love that Jacob Anderson is Louis, he was great as Greyworm on Game of Thrones and Rayleigh Ritchies music is okay, not on my regular spotify rotation, but he can do his thing for sure.

To me, Vampirism has always been a dramatization of draining others’ emotional life force and maybe even physical resources. Combined with some romanticized long life and abilities like youth, strength & often mental powers, it seems like it would be hard to say “no”. I like how this movie is kind of about all the trappings that initially seem great ultimately not being worth it.
Watch also, Morbius. But Blade and Underworld first.

I just heard this man say he hasn’t seen but one vampire movie. I just checked this catalog. Y’all oughta be ashamed of y’all selves. You haven’t brought up blade before this? Mr. L Boyd, you have got to watch Blade. It is an early Marvel It is an early marvel movie. blade is a beloved character. He’s deadly, cool, and stylish all at the same time. Most vampire movies have a through line. But some vampire movies like to change it up some.

Is interesting to watch you watch fantasy films you have so many questions of why something is or is not and it's just meant to be enjoyed. A lot of people don't pay attention to that Claudia is in her forties and has a mentality of a mature woman. Which I'm glad you caught on to. Vampires have a tendency to have a love for all things beautiful. Along with anything that highton the physical senses. That was his attraction to Louie. Then Armand's attraction to Louie. Along with they need a partner of the modern time when they grow so old they cannot connect with their modern world. The older the vampire of they are stronger in their powers. You caught with that was able to absorb ability like learning to drive. While the younger ones are forbidden because they do not age, cannot protect themselves well and are incapable of creating other vampires. FYI pressure hoses were invented in the late 1600s. And we're first used in the United States in the late 1700s.

I dont recommend watching the Sequels. This one is amazing on its own, the other sequels/spin offs don't do it justice.

If they’re male, they can get human women pregnant but in traditionally in Bram Stoker’s and they were still the only way they could.

The sequel is terrible.. really bad. I remember being so excited for it and so disappointed in it
