I have met most of these musicians in NOLA - they are doing the best to preserve the spirit and flavor of the early years of jazz. They don't make a lot of money at it, but I know they love doing what they do (I am saying this as a profesional jazz musician and radio jazz DJ with 30+ years on the air.)
All these people standing around have no idea how good this woman is. They probably take her for just some street performer but then hear her sing and have the sudden urge to dance. She is phenomenal. I can't wait to go dance when she performs at the Fizz this summer in Chicago.
How beautiful to see a new generation take up that great music! I've painted New Orleans musicians and joints for almost fifty years and obviously have to get some new material!!!! These "kids" are an absolute delight.... Wowzer :o)
You guys have to release a studio version of this cover because it is seriously amazing and I would love to just listen to it all the time. Because your version of the song is without a doubt the best version I have ever heard!
It's great to hear Shay letting rip; she is usually rather modest when part of the full Tuba Skinny line-up, so that everyone gets a turn, but when she's the main player, she really sounds terrific.
До этого видео я любила эту песню только в исполнении Планта. Эта же певица ( о которой я ничего не знаю) мне понравилась очень и ее исполнение такое яркое, сочное, красивое! Спасибо.

I think I'm the only person to notice this but at 1:07 mins the street light is flashing in time to their music...as a jazz playing christian myself I declare that God says: "Let there be rhythm, let there be light!"
That's Shaye Cohn, granddaugther of the famous Sax player Al Cohn and it's a cornet. She plays cornet/trumpet, trombone, piano, violin, harmonica/bandeon and a few more instruments. You will hardly know which is her main instrument.
I like the singing, but the rhythm section (drum and guitar) plays too hastily, not too fast, but too hastily. It's a matter of less than half a second of hitting the beat, but it's crucial to get real soul and swing or vibe.
Thank you God for these musicians singing and even mention your name Jesus in a street performance. This is so great to see and hear and INSPIRING

Cornet stole the show. This is the theme song on the new STARZ series Boss starring Kelsey Grammer.
класс
class cornet player
The singer is great, but I am more impressed with the horn player.
BoBo Le Roy ...of course, it is Shay..THE Shay!
приблизно так звучить „путін капут!“ по-новоорлеанськи )
That lady singing reminds me of my deceased cousin. She sure looks like her.
Anyone have the lyrics for this ? I can't quite make out the words, it seems like a speciel set of lyrics from any version i know.
