It does take some fiddling to get the carb set on those. Sometimes the aftermarket carb. parts are not as good. Struggled with that issue with my mom's 1950 8N. It's looking nice. I grew up with those tractors. Stay safe, and God bless.
Thanks for watching, I adjusted to book spec on the carb and will do some more adjustments when idling, I’m not sure the float adjustment top of my head though. Fun tractor, it’s almost there!
One word: carburetor. I can tell you it’s not getting enough gas or you’re not choking it enough. Screw your main needle in the front all the way till it seats, then back it out to full turns. Your idle mixture on the side, screw it all the way in, then Back it out one full turn. If it’s still isn’t wanting to start either, you’re not getting gasoline into the bowl because the float is closing the needle valve too fast or the needle valve is stuck, so if you have to pull it off, make sure that your needle is going up and down good not sticking then make sure that there’s 1/4 inch between the top of the float and the bottom of the top gasket. Mine acted like that and I had my float set wrong. The carburetors are really picky, but once you get them set right, it’ll run like a top. PS make sure you turn the fuel off at the tank and run the carburetor out of gas if you’re gonna leave it for a while .
Thank you! I have a tattered 50’s operator manual and it did state the 2 turns for both but figured one or both screws needed adjustment. I will dial the one back and go from there with this current video. I only found conflicting info about the float so thanks for that I will measure and adjust. Really appreciate it.
I’m not exactly sure what the previous owner had done but it was out. I pulled the distributor to try and align 4 btdc. I think with some added carb adjustment when running it’ll really come around.
Great job man. Sounds like your timing is off, im sure by now youve figured it out since this video is 3 months old. Congrats!
Oh yeah she’s purring after some distributor adjustments , still need to adjust the float. Working on some wiring around the holidays!
Great project, a lot time in that one. Took a second to pop off there. Everything sounds healthy. Looking forward to seeing the for sale video
Just some wiring to go! Can finally put that hood back on and not hit the radiator.

Why do you put the rear wheels on backwards?
Check timing.
Thank you

@@DerricksFunnyFarm YOU HAVE to have the intake hose on it for the carburetor to work correctly
I think I would have put that truck bed liner on the steps or running boards
That’s a pretty good idea, I’m hoping they shine up a little at the least.
SOUNDS LIKE TIMING WRONG

Needs advanced
Funny, I advanced it a good bit just by listening at idle recently. Thank you.
Your timing is off. Perhaps your plug wires are on wrong.
Agreed!
this guy just thinks he’s a mechanic not
Nah, just a guy that enjoys tinkering and saving old equipment. Trying to preserve some of the past for the future. Thanks for the comment.
