There is an old saying. Separate the art from the artist. But as someone who’s been watching WWE since the dying days of the attitude era and into the ruthless aggression era. It’s damn hard to do it. Vince McMahon pretty much directly and indirectly crafted our childhood. He has its tops and downs. And now with all the deprave negative things that’s been exposed. He’s now at the bottom. He could have retired in peace. And have a great legacy left behind.
So what if he's depraved and had a few illicit affairs? Nearly every billionaire has some skeletons in the closet. He's still a legend to almost everyone who knows him.
This is *NOT* gonna be the tell-all, no holds barred documentary that you hope it will be. If Vince is personally involved with this, it'll be as kid gloved as possible while still providing "content." I'm gonna watch it, but I'm still holding out for the Dark Side episode.
This has been in development since 2020. It was originally like you said, a puff piece about Vince McMahon made with the blessing of WWE. But WWE took their name off the project after the hush money scandal broke, and Netflix spent two years remaking the documentary to cover the controversy. Is it going to be a 100% takedown of Vince McMahon and examination of the disgusting culture WWE allowed under the reign of Vince? Absolutely not. Netflix doesn't want that publicity before WWE Raw goes to Netflix. But I'll imagine they are allowed to be extremely negative towards Vince and portray him as the bad guy that he is. With TKO in charge, their strategy for this has been to throw Vince McMahon to the wolves publicly and protect the company from any culpability in the wrongdoing that happened. I think this will be a clear continuation of the narrative that "Vince was a bad guy, but us at WWE had noooooo way of knowing what he was doing behind closed doors".
Itll be like all the documentaries Vince put out like the Bret Hart one where he was portraying Bret as the antagonist & himself as the protagonist that had no choice. Or the Warrior self destruction now im not saying warrior or even Bret didnt have any part in it but Vince tried to put all the blame on them.
Vince is not around anymore. Don't make him some boogeyman figure still controlling shit in his retirement. It is in the interest of like of Nick Khan and HHH to bury the motherfucker. I am still convinced that those two outed Vince and took over.
0:40 that footage is from late 2000. Very impressive work. WWE typically blurs the WWF logo but Netflix did something even better, they CGI’d it to the previous scratch WWE logo.
WWE doesn’t digitize the logo out anymore. They’ve been allowed to have the WWF scratch logo in archival footage only since 2014. Look at the A&E Biography episodes of WWE wrestlers and it’s in the footage plain as day.
@@KenjiMania it depends. On WWE video games, the scratch logo was blurred out in showcase clips from the past. I know when they introduced the WWE Network, they made a deal which they can show the WWF logo on Network content, however they no longer can use the WWF logo on merch. Prior to then, WWE sold golden age themed merch with the original WWF logo, including replica belts (but they weren’t allowed to use the scratch WWF logo). I know there was other content on other platforms, on behalf of the WWE, which the WWF logo was blurred in recent timing. Hell, they used the WWF logo in Young Rock series. But for some reason, they aren’t using the WWF logo in this McMahon docuseries. In this trailer, there is a clip of Vince holding the Smackdown microphone, which has the 1999-2001 Smackdown logo but the side of the microphone cover is plain black. That side of the microphone cover had the WWF logo. So yeah, whatever the legal ramifications may be, they are CGI’ing the WWF logos for this Netflix series. Which it’s a lot better than blurring the logos.
As kids who grew up believing the world of WWE, we hated him to the core. And that's exactly what he wanted! This man was responsible for singlehandedly transforming our childhood fantasies into legendary spectacles! Many emotions, one name - Mr. McMahon.
Oh yes, my bad! We grew up on WWF. It became WWE much later. Still remember the trading cards (or "trump cards", as we used to call them!) and the figures that every 80s would practically know by heart. :D
Vince McMahon is no different from every other boss or billionaire. That’s what made his character so great - everyone has a boss like him. You can’t become a billionaire without burying others along the way, it’s just not possible. That’s how I remember his legacy
@Spaceghost-123 Exactly. I'm not, and nowhere near, a billionaire, but what Mr. McMahon allegedly did-I've seen poor people do the same, whether they're white, Asian, Black, or whatever. These people think only billionaires can be bad

If this series tells the truth about Vince Macman without covering up for him or deifying him, it has everything to be one of the best documentaries in history, not only because the history of Wrestling and the history of Vince go hand in hand but because the world of Wrestling is one of the richest in content, I hope Netflix doesn't disappoint and delivers everything about him, both the good and the bad, the side of the prosecution and the side of the defense, without covering up or accusing, just the facts.

My buddies and I grew up with the Ruthless Aggression Era of WWE. Every Monday and Thursday night we’d gather at my house to watch Raw and SmackDown. It was a weekly tradition of ours from middle to high school. 2002-2009 were such badass and unforgettable years of WWE
I share a similar tradition myself. Me & 2 of my friends at school watch wrestling (During the 2000's & 2010's eras.) on our own homes (Smack Down in my case.) & then when we go to school, we talk about it before class starts & during recess. And it wasn't just about wrestling, but also about other sports. What made those days even more special was the fact that I always go to school with a newspaper & one of those 2 friends always asked me if he can check out the sports section real quick, that's what always kickstart those conversations. I miss those days.
@@ARTSONICFAN990 Wow brother I can’t believe how similar that is to how my buddies and I hung out. There was 3 of us as well, we were quiet misfits who often got bullied. I’d always have some WWE magazines in my backpack in middle-high school, and we’d often read them out loud to each other in the cafeteria during our break. We looked up to all those wrestlers so much growing up and thought they were superheroes lol. When bullies gave me a hard time, I’d often imagine John Cena bursting through the walls and coming to my and my friends’ aid, and he’d give those bullies some serious Attitude Adjustments lol. Great times bro, such great times. We’d also play SmackDown Vs Raw on PS2 together quite often! But hanging out together every Monday and Thursday was an absolute must for us. We didn’t care that it was a school night LOL, we faithfully had to watch WWE each week!
@TheGreekPianist the WWE video games were always so fun. I used to play the GameCube Wrestlemania games with my friends. But when Smackdown vs. Raw series started on the ps2, we'd get that contraption that PS2's would use for 6 players and that was just priceless memories. The only hand I remember that actually allowed 6 players. But that was some great days ngl.

@ronanchristiana.belleza9270 Literally nothing? Why must something happen. Also, it was like the top ten most popular thing in Netflix for quite a while.
Well he'll throw him under the bus and all of the puddle drinking marks will drool and simp it up whilst chanting toe curling ass kissing chants like You Deserve It. Triple nose will then come out of it with no shit attached to him even though his huge snozz has been up that booty since day 1.
Just finished it, honestly if you're a wrestling fan don't bother. There's nothing new there, if you have followed wrestling scandals over the years it's all stuff you've already heard about a hundred times before.
I love how Vince and his entire family went all out, actually getting into the action of the business, to help it survive the Monday night wars in the late 90s, early 2000’s.
That was in the interest of WWE, not the interest of the "business" Vince never gave a damn about furthering the business, he wanted to grow his own company, that's why he bought out all the territories instead of working with them and that's why he never acknowledged anything else In the wrestling stratosphere but his own company
I remember that HBO Real sports interview where he was asked about taking any responsibility for all the wrestlers dying young likely of steroid abuse that worked for him and Vince said he takes "Zero blame for any of it" There are things about the man I admire but that lack of accountability spoke volumes about his character. There was a clear culture of steroid abuse in his locker room that he helped facilitate. The WWF back in the 80''s and largely in the 90's was like a traveling circus non-stop. These boys were worked into the ground and under constant pressure to look like a million dollars or they'd lose their spot.. But he takes no blame for it.. Shameful....

It’s damn hard to do it. Vince McMahon pretty much directly and indirectly crafted our childhood. He has its tops and downs. And now with all the deprave negative things that’s been exposed. He’s now at the bottom. He could have retired in peace. And have a great legacy left behind.
He did nothing wrong.
So what if he's depraved and had a few illicit affairs? Nearly every billionaire has some skeletons in the closet.

A dark side of the ring episode on Vince will literally take up a full 10 episode season.
Vince was personally involved. Keyword? WAS. Its been reworked without his involvement since the allegations broke.

0:40 that footage is from late 2000. Very impressive work. WWE typically blurs the WWF logo but Netflix did something even better, they CGI’d it to the previous scratch WWE logo.
Yup if u didnt mention it was CGI, i thought it was part of the background of how natural it seem to fit into the background
I miss the scratch logo
WWE doesn’t digitize the logo out anymore. They’ve been allowed to have the WWF scratch logo in archival footage only since 2014. Look at the A&E Biography episodes of WWE wrestlers and it’s in the footage plain as day.
@@KenjiManiamaybe cause editing different moving angles isn’t as easy 🙄 🤦🏽♂️
