Why is it that some people feel the need to tell us what we should and should not do? That we are too old for makeup? Too old for long hair? That gray hair ages us - but if we color our hair, we are “trying too hard to stay relevant”. It seems that whatever we choose to do or don’t do, it’s the wrong decision - in their opinion. DGAF That’s the theme of today’s hair and makeup look. And I say it - a lot. Full on F- bombs all over the place! So don’t watch if that offends you. Breaking rules, making mistakes and creating a fabulous purple smokey eye and avant-garde updo while encouraging you to say it right along with me - IDGAF! Love your videos and your attitude! I am 69 years old and am truly a rule breaker! I have long graying hair, wear makeup (sometimes shimmering eye shadows!), and dress….well, let’s say, I step out of the box. Actually, I stomped on the box and pummeled it into a dusty heap to be carried away by the wind! My look and style sense are ever changing as I do through this journey of aging. Ok ladies. I turned 62 this May. I don't feel like I'm this age. People think I'm nuts because I would welcome grey hair. My Son who turned 40 this year. Yes ok I'm like WTH happened. He has grey all over and altho he doesn't admit to doing a little something he does. I don't have any grey yet I will welcome it. I guess it's in my DNA because my Mom didn't start to grey until she was in her 70’s. Idk as I am blonde who knows what I'm going to turn. Yet I am so happy to be here and as my Dad used to say. Never give up your dreams and never let someone tell you what you should due or not. He was a treasure. I so miss his advice. 🦋🦋🦋

Yes..its funny, I had menstration until 59!! At 60, suddenly I noticed grey hairs popping through..rather than worry, I embraced them and everyone comments on my hair, love the colour, where did I have it done? I don't think they believe me, I'm naturally fair... 👍

I started getting grey hair at 15, people thought it was cool for the most part.
When I turned 45, I got a very (unwanted) short haircut then just let the more pronounced grey grow out.
Afterwards, I found I was allergic to, and my hair wouldn't take, hair color, so I said IDGAF and here I am today, @ 59, mostly grey and living life as I see fit!

Amazing advice, I am a hairstylist and I always tell clients that it's really silly how people think that a woman of a certain age should have short hair....and long hair is actually much easier to style , because when you want a "wash and go style" you just pull it back outa face....when your hair is short there really is no wash and go style cause it's all around your face looking all messy.....love gray/white hair on all women skin tones....natural is beautiful, and getting all snazied up is that little extra bling to your personality.

I'm almost 46, my gray is in the front. It was the most freeing moment when I decided to stop dying those spots dark.
Pleasing me is new. My kids are grown, my husband is supportive, and I'm winging life right now and it feels GOOD to not have a plan.
I don't always wear a full face but I always wear makeup - because I like it.

I turned 65 in March, always have my hair and nails done professionally but sticking to my usual styles. Today I have decided to let my layers grow out a little more so I have more hair options. I also started setting my hair for bounce and variety. Thank you for inspiring a change!!
I absolutely love your videos!! I'm turning 52 in July. I just had my umpteenth spine surgery on the 6th and was finally able to shower yesterday.. I found myself standing in front of the full length mirror thinking "what the f@$&".. I looked like the haggard witch in snow white lol.. after your video I'm reminded that this time in my life is brief and I'll be back to my mischief in no time because I don't give a fu@&! I just found you! I searched for women with gray hair. There you were. I started going gray 4 years ago. Like you said everyone has an opinion about it. Especially my sister and my good friend. My hair dresser said to find someone else who didnt make their money doing color. I also have long hair. OMG NO, they scream. Looking for a New Hair dresser has been a struggle and I moved to another state recently. Struggle, struggle. Anyway here I am looking for advice and ideas for hair and makeup. My absolute favorite video of anyone of all time!!!!!! This was great! Being in my mid 60’s, everyone had an opinion of what I should or shouldn’t be doing and what I should or shouldn’t be saying or wearing. And I was of age in the era of rule breaking, so why should I start following the “rules” now????? I wear makeup, I color my long hair, I wear shimmer shadows and bold colors. I have lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months and I am strutting my stuff. Fantastic video and yes, I DGAF!

I have been a long time follower and have really enjoyed your channel and getting a glimpse of your life. I remember the early days in your apartment, using a curtain panel as a background to create your filming space. It looked so lovely. And your cats, no car, some clothes from thrift shops, using the fancy blender and enjoying a bowl of peas for a snack! I have loved your DGAF perspective from the beginning! We should do what makes us happy. You are an inspiration to many women and I thank you for being one to me.
BTW, I microbladed my eyebrows after you and on one hand, I regret it as the color changes. My brown eyebrows turned ashy. Now I am getting saline treatments to try and remove it. But the shape is still helpful to fill them in and is still faster than trying to create a whole brow!

YES! I DGAF. Side note: I struggle with and often curse what I always refer to as my "cotton candy" hair. But you called my attention to a really valid point: it is quite gravity-defying. When you whip some air into it and hit it with stop-a-bird-in-flight spray, you can achieve some serious architecture. Love your relaxed confidence and playful attitude toward makeup. As for you saying that about shimmer eyeshadow. I've always been told after your 20s that's a no so I threw out all my shimmer and mainly have just browns. This makes me want to go and get some purples. I know I'm suppose to wear purples because it looks good with green eyes. But like you mentioned looks like a black eye.
I don't have the attitude you have to wear this look you do. But I think I'm going to one day I don't need to leave the house and see how I feel about it.

I wish I'd seen this in my 40s (30 years ago 😃) when I started to go grey. Got all the comments you mentioned short of 'put a bag over your head'. I did embrace the grey though eventually as i got to NGAF. You look beautiful even without make up.
