    Dear Californians, there is actual winter in this place. You may want to go somewhere where there isn't snow and ice.

    Fast forward to 2021. This place has been discovered tenfold since this video was made and it is definitely not affordable anymore. I’ve been here since 1969 and have never seen unchecked growth as we are seeing right now in this area.

    Are there other parts of Idaho that are “more liveable” besides being in or near Boise? Preferably north.....

    What I like about it is its close to Spokane (for shopping or more city atmosphere) plus its close to Sandpoint, a more resort type town. About equal distance to both. So you can have it any way you want.

    • @NorthIdahoDream

      Agreed, its the best of both worlds. You are 45 minutes to a major airport but still have that small town feel.

    Very seriously planning a move to Coeur d' Alene. I've visited twice and both times felt like it was a perfect place for me to retire. I am a wildlife / landscape photographer and living there in my retirement years would be amazing! Thanks for taking the time to create this video!

      Absolutely! With an abundance of elk, deer, bears, eagles, turkeys, and about every other animal you can think of, Coeur d' alane would be a wildlife photographers paradise. Let us know if we can can help you find a place here.

    Hello Josh. My family are looking to move to Idaho from Pennsylvania for the many outdoor activities it offers, great schools, neighborhoods not as big as Boise but still have good amenities. Everything sounds good but me being not into winter sports like I am summer. I'm stuck. I don't mind snow I don't mind cold weather, my family and I are very active but I'm not into winter sports like that. My hubby says I never had the opportunity to do it so I'll embrace it but I'm stuck between CDA and Boise

      Hi there,
      Boise and Coeur d' alene are COMPLETELY different. Boise has a totally different climate and terrain. Boise is beautiful as well, but is more like rolling hills and feels a little like a desert. Coeur d' alene is very similar to British Columbia, we are only an hour and a half away. We have lots of lakes, rivers, trees, etc. Both places have winter, I believe that we get more snow up here due to being further north. Boise has a ski area near them, Coeur d alene has several. I would recommend visiting both places and see what you like best! Visit my website at cdahomefinder.com, it shows all local properties in the area and has my contact information if you have any other questions.

    I live in Cortolane when I was 10 years old, and I want to come back but I don’t know how to do it. I’m not one of those rich Californians I’ve just been a hard-working mom of 4. and I never did generate huge amounts of money like people that live in California often do but I really want to come back to one of my most favorite childhood memories. Just don’t know how to do it. Now I’m over 50 of my children are grown and I wanna come back.

    I happen to live in Portland, OR, and our crime rate is mushrooming here. The thing is I visited North Idaho and plan to visit again this June for a week. I've been to Coeur d'Alene and liked what I saw. The people seemed friendly and the views are great. I'm saving up to move there hopefully in the springtime of 2019. Thank you for making this video, for I'm checking out videos to help me through the process of relocating.

    I've been reading alot about coeur d'alene being very cloudy and gloomy during the winter and that the winters last 6 months. Is that true? Exactly how gloomy is it, can u still see the sun every now and then? And how's the overall weather in each month? Thanks!

    • @jakemiller1467
      @jakemiller1467 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Diesel_Power 00 I was originally born in huntington beach california, but I lived in cda for close to ten years and still own a business there even though I dont live there anymore. The weather in CDA sucks, I'm not going to sugar coat it and try to sell you something that isnt true like this guy. You have three solid months of good weather. June july and august, then you start getting into the cold fall weather with some sunshine for sept and oct, then nov until april is just hell with lots of grey clouds, snow and freezing temps.. the reality is CDA is only good if you want a second home to vacation in during the summer, but gl with that now as most of the homes in downtown CDA are priced above what they were in 2008. This guy is talking a whole lot of lies when it comes to a lot of things, A there are no jobs in CDA, if you have an ounce of ambition and are looking for a professional job you wont find it in CDA, he mentoins the hospital but pretty much any town in the united states with a population above 30k has a hospital to work at. There are no other jobs outside of that, and you definitely cannot say real estate is a good option at all, CDA is an incredibly seasonal town. Again you have three months to try and make some money, thats it. Outside of that you have nothing but low paying jobs, infact idaho ranks as one of the lowest paying states in the country, and how can he have the audacity to say the job environment is good there when kootenai county which is the district that CDA is in ranks as one of the highest unemployed districts in idaho! And Idaho is one of the more unemployed states in all of the nation. Right off the bat he mentions hes lived there all his life, which explains why he has such a distorted view of CDA as they say " the world is a book and those who dont travel read from one page" i could go on with my diatribe and explain why there is zero tech as well in cda and that the collective isnt dojng much and how having spokane as your only nearest "major" city which is a city full of meth heads and extremely poverty stricken isnt a good thing but I believe ive said enough.

      Jake Miller thanks for the input, I appreciate it. If u don't mind me asking where do u live now? Do u find it better than CDA and California?

    • @jakemiller1467
      @jakemiller1467 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diesel_Power 00 I'm in Arizona working on houses, I don't mind it here in Arizona. But I would prefer california if I had to pick a place, however, I'm more interested in opportunity and upward movement at this stage in my life more than just living in my ideal place. Yes California is crowded, yes it's expensive, however, think about that. It's crowded for a reason, great weather, jobs if you have the experience or degrees, an ocean and plenty to do. If you're close to being retired CDA isn't a bad place, if you can put up with the horrible weather 7 to 8 months out of the year, again though and I really do stress this. If you're looking for professional jobs or any upward movement in the job market CDA is the farthest place you'll want to be. I had to come up with a very quirky and unique business and had lucky timing to make it work in CDA and I'm very grateful for that, however, that's the reality of work in CDA there isn't much of anything.

      Hi there, we definitely do have weather here, all four seasons. Coeur d' Alene is known for its summers, but if you like the outdoors or skiing/ snowboarding, Coeur d Alene is great place for winters as well. I used to live in Wyoming and the winters here are a MILLION times better, much more mild.

    • @ay8597

  • @Phil-lb8eh
    @Phil-lb8eh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I would not say CDA is the best place to live, sure it's very beautiful with all the lakes and pine trees but it's been invaded by ex Californian's who have driven the price of real estate sky high not the mention the traffic for a town it's size has become brutal. They also don't tell you about the dreary long and cold winters up here. Very little sunlight to speak of during the 7 months of winter. If you have lots of money to purchase an expensive house and can deal with the winters you will be alright I guess. On a positive note though, lots of outdoor activites to enjoy, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking etc.

    • @SgtSnagglePuss
      @SgtSnagglePuss 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed the ridiculous price increases on real estate as well. I guess that's what happens when you get a flood of Californians invading...I mean moving in. :D

    • @NorthIdahoDream
      @NorthIdahoDream  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two totally different places. Rexburg is much smaller and has more of a desert feel. Coeur d Alene is a good size, about 100,000 people with the surrounding areas and is a mountain/ lake town.

      Coeur d'Alene isn't a nice place to live. The weather is crappy, its expensive and people aren't friendly anymore... Rexburg is next to Jellystone Park where eruptions, a massive one, is coming soon. In Rexburg you are in the kill zone. We are also... Rexburg if you are LDS would be ok if you weren't, it would suck.
