    The "no graffiti, no trash" part got me. Many of us are unfortunately so used to seeing so much defacement, we sadly almost consider it normal. It's nice to see happy, healthy and respectful people living together. I also like the Idaho government for the most part. They are freedom oriented. If I had the money, I would be there now.

    Kory, I have forwarded this video numerous times because it really captures the essence of how special this area is. I retired to Boundary County from southern California last year, and it was one of the best decisions of my life! I was in fear of the upcoming winter but discovered it was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The people are so nice up here, always have time to chat for a few minutes at the grocery store or in town. It's like I've gone back in time to a simpler, friendlier era. My house is in a forest wonderland. My car registration went from $289 to $36. Seriously in love with northern Idaho!

    I moved to Idaho five years ago. Came here from Missouri. I was raised in California. I live in Moscow, Idaho. It's about the same here. Just not any big bodies of water. Winter is a little longer than I am used to. But not as bad as you may think. It rains a lot in spring. When Summer comes, it's beautiful. Fall is OK. I like it here. I don't plan on leaving with my shoes on either.

    It’s a beautiful place, however, winter can be a bit harsh for folks from California. If you do decide to come don’t bring your politics with you we’re a red state and aim to keep it that way.
    North Idaho is a place where retired military, police , and firefighters go to. We respect those people, love our country, and our second amendment rights. We hunt, fish, enjoy nature and care for our land. We don’t want gang members, illegal aliens or criminals here. We are an armed but polite society.

    • @leofrombakersfield
      @leofrombakersfield 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With all respect. Why is it that most of you living in Idaho jump straight into judging and assuming that 100% of all people coming from California are everything that you are not wanting there? Ignorance? The people who are moving there are people who think and love the very things that you do and is the vary reason why they are moving there. All the gang members, illegal aliens or criminals have NO! interest in leaving! Why would they? The ones who are love our second amendment rights, hunting, fishing, enjoying nature, and caring for or country just like you? With all do respect it makes no sense that people who share the same Politics that you do, get judged by someone who is of the same God fearing, Country loving , Moral minded gun loving people just as you? Makes no sense at all?

    • @michaelpond6386
      @michaelpond6386 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess I was a little harsh, but I watched Portland get utterly destroyed by well meaning folks in the seventies and eighties. Now it’s unfit to live in. I guess I’m a little suspicious.
      I am friends with many former Californian police and firemen who retired and escaped. You are right to say that they left California for good reasons and have the same values we do.
      My point was that the politics prevalent in those decaying liberal States is like a cancer. One we don’t want to embrace.

    • @leofrombakersfield
      @leofrombakersfield 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelpond6386 No worries brother and friend. I just wanted to point out that California still has folks whom are just like you? The trash that has totally turned this state (California) into hell , has no desire to come there because they can do what ever they want whenever they want even breaking the law here? These idiots here will never their free baby bottles you know? Those of us who wish to come there is because we are red just as you. But I totally get where your frustration is. It's sad where our country is going so we need to stick together? I wish you nothing but blessings man and am sorry if I came across as an ass? If so, Im sorry.

There have a couple come out for vacation which is a real treat but they always go back their fear of snow is overwhelming I guess. We just spent three days in Cd'A and had a great time. We live just south of Portland, so it was great to get away from the rat race, homelessness and crime of a typical liberal run city, Seattle and San Franciso included. It's like a whole different world up there. Not so crazy about Spokane or the Tri Cities, but once you get to Post Falls things seem to change. The trees, lakes and scenery are breathtaking.

      You're fudging, Martinelli. LOL. True, AVERAGED N. Idaho winters don't look terrible. The wild variability is what will get you. Believe me, we can have extremes the Midwest just doesn't experience, even in one day. Like, you leave the house in shorts and a t-shirt and get snowed on later that day. LOTS of times if you look at a weather map we are colder in the winter than Fairbanks, AK. Some winters we are colder than Anchorage (almost always, actually) all winter. Down here in the LC valley we're often as hot as Vegas in the summer. CDA's not as bad for heat though. And if you get up to any altitude, get ready. Some little mountain towns you'll notice everyone has a steep pitched metal roof and a front porch, and the porch has a big snow barrier at the front of it. That's because if you don't have those architectural features the snow will collect on your roof and cave it in. So you give the roof a steep pitch and use metal. Then you have a big pile of snow in front of your door so you put the porch out there so you don't get trapped in your house. And then you've got a 10 foot pile of snow that rolled off your roof and the kids are throwing snowballs in June some years. No joke. And then some winters are just wet and crappy (I'd rather have the cold/snow myself). Weather here can be crazy.

    As someone who was raised in the overwhelmingly liberal and Orwelian California (San Diego to be precise), I would love to see these parts of this great country. It looks free and beautiful and clean. I do have to say, though, that I'm not sure how I'd deal with the isolation - I've always lived in metropolitan areas and can't imagine what it would be like to be so isolated! I suppose that bigger cities aren't far away, but I wonder if I could adapt to the "lonely" feeling. Have you spent most of your life in this area, or did you move at some point? If you moved, was acclimating hard?
    Thank you, God bless.

    • @LiveBetterinNorthIdaho
      @LiveBetterinNorthIdaho  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of the reasons North Idaho is so awesome is one gets both isolation and modern day amenities. You can live on acreage in the country, yet be 5,10, 30, 60 minutes from a metro location like Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, or Spokane. And yes, it did take awhile to get acclimated...but after awhile you get accustomed to the lower taxes, shorter lines, friendlier people, outdoor recreation without reservations, crowds or long drives in traffic. Thanks for posting!

The road crews take their plowing duties seriously, and the snow is pretty dry here. We rarely have wind over 7-10 mph. Nights are long and it's a time of rest and rejuvenation. Also, you don't need to live 40 miles from the grocery store. I live in a small town of 2,500, and the store is about a 90 second drive from my home. Paradise.
