I have Toyotas. 1/2 of them are recalled for over 1 year now. Had to sell them that’s how bad Toyota’s recalls are. 2019, 20’s and 21’s Toyota recalled like 4 million cars with no fix in sight.
That's why people buy Toyotas! They fix up and recall the littlest stuff that other manufacturers would just ignore! I wish my Jeep people would issue recalls on this thing, but they don't! 😂 😢
I remember when Turo was a way to make some money on that car you dont use as much, now you are competing with these people and the business makes no sense for the avg person.
So how do find out if it’s below market value? Kbb and Edmunds pricing is often over valued. And not everyone has access to MMR. And even MMR values can be inflated as well. It’s easy to say don’t buy overpriced cars, but where do you find out if it’s overpriced or under priced? Thanks for all the good info
Hi Aubrey! What do you think about that: I live in Colorado and getting new model Y. But there is a catch. Now that they have some new 2024 models discounted (existing inventory) so I found for MY LR for 46000 (discounted from 51000). Minus 7500 federal credit and $5000 state Colorado tax credit. So my total price with taxes is $39000. Would Turo pay me over 40K if car gets totaled soon? If they go by market price it should be around 45K.
I actually just bought a luxurious and spacious 2008 Lincoln TownCar for $1500! I just put the listing as a cheap 2012 Ford Focus hatchback on Turo(the TownCar doesn't qualify as a classic, yet). I explain to the guests my car(the listed Ford Focus) is out in the shop for repairs and that they can use my TownCar instead. I then explain to them the feats of the T.C. vs the Focus and nearly every guest is more satisfied with the T.C. anyway. So essentially, I make great money on a dirt cheap nice car. But the protection plan/liability insurances are voided in this case, so I plan to get rid if this car pronto! I'm just hosting it now because my car was totalled and the only other Turo eligible vehicles near me are $6K+ in higher mileage(& not as nice as the T.C.). 🚗 💵
I wouldn't recommend that either. I'm sure it violates the terms of service and most likely you will be kicked off of the platform or at the very least receive low reviews for the "bait and switch" that you are doing.
@@tracismith4925So far, ratings have been about the same. Some note the conditions of the older T.C., but my rating has only dropped from a 4.89(Ford Focus) to 4.87(T.C.) in the 2.5 months it's been listed. I just inform the guests beforehand. But as I said, this is only temporary! 😊
I believe that only applies when you first put the car on Turo. It can be grandfathered in after 130k miles and 12+ years as long as the maintenance and reliability ratings are good.

Depends on your market and how busy/how many hosts. It helps to relocate to a touristy area, like me!
