it doesn't unload at a distance. It populates everything regardless of how far you are and keeps them there. Unless there's a setting somewhere that i can't find and nobody has mentioned, but yeah.
@@koopanique disregard what i just said lol. I found a module that will do this. It's the virtual faction module. Sync that to a faction and they will stay unloaded until you trigger their spawn at a set distance. I should have read the readme in the mod folder before commenting lmao

If you dont want any pilots or officers then you can disable them in define faction. If you mean that the faction you want to use does not have any pilots or officers, get creative and use another unit, dress him up to look similar or even use a pilot from another faction.
it in fact does not unload them at a distance. They are all populated regardless of how i have it set up and it tanks my performance. Idk how to stop it

So quick question are you able to deploy friendly ai and they just patrol around the map fighting a somewhat like combat style environment?
If you mean just spawn the factions, yes they will spawn and fight in a war. Using this mod a great way to easily get that believable war environment
