New TCM installation in my 2009 Mazda 5; does it fix the P0753 error I've been fighting?

  • I need my car fixed, so I broke down an forked out the $500 for a new transmission control module from Mazda. I searched on-line and found the best price a Werner Mazda out of New Hampshire. I tried since May to buy a new module out of China, but the prices have gotten insane; they are running around $300 for the knock offs. I attempted to buy one from three different vendors on Alibaba Express, but got nothing but disappointment; don't even go that route, it is a complete waste of effort and time.
    Installing the new module seems to have fixed my problems; I'll follow up with one more video some time in the distant future.

    Alot of these places claim they can fix your TCM. All they do is replace some capacitors and resolder pins the board. A lot of times this will not fix the TCM. It got damaged by the heat from the transmission.

    Don't know if you'll be seeing this comment six months after posting this video. But I wanted to ask is your Mazda still running fine after installing the new module? I'm getting ready to work on a mazda5 that has the same exact codes you had at the beginning and I was following your whole journey with the videos you made and I'm interested if the module and that up fixing for sure your issue. Thanks again for what you've done you've already been a great help

      Hey there John, I watched both of your videos on fixing this issue on your vehicle. I wanted to know if your Mazda was giving jerks while driving or if the light AT would come on and then off. Let me know please. I'm going thru the same exact problem and I'm thinking in just buying a new tcm. Thanks for your videos it really helps out.

    I'm having the same problem I called the dealership and the part is 850$ . I then asked if they could give me the part # and they wouldn't. I found some on Amazon for around 250$ . I'm afraid it want be the right one. When I scan the car it says TCM lost connection

      Try ordering from Werner Mazda in New Hampshire. They had the lowest price and shipped quickly. Good luck!

    Hi. I went the same route as you and sent mine to g7 and got same response with an untouched TSM sent back to me. I just got it back yesterday and it did not fix any problems. I then have got the mazda 5 diagnosed at a transmission shop and they say it is the TSM that is bad. Question: how did you get yours programmed or did the dealer you bought it off do that? Thank you in advance.

    After installing new TCM, how did you managed to program? I have Mazda 5 2009 and my TCM need to be changed. I can buy it online and replace it but what i will be do for TCM programming? Do it require programming?

    • @johnhermann762
      @johnhermann762  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      TCMs for models 2007 thru 2010 do no have to be programmed; I don't know about other models. Note that 2007 and 2008 are 4 speed trannies; 2009 and 2010 are 5 speed; they are different TCMs and are not interchangeable.

    Hey I have the same car anyway I could contact you I’m not sure if it’s the trans or the tcm which I changed and flashed but I still see check engine light and I’m having a problem with first gear or drive

    • @johnhermann762
      @johnhermann762  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sent my TCM off to have it repaired, and they did not find any problems with it and they claimed to have updated it with flashed firmware. The TCM was not fixed by their work, but the TCM was bad. Replacing it fixed my problems. I can almost guarantee that will be your problem as well. Just pay the $500+ to get a new one from a Mazda dealer; not one from China.

    One other question I forgot: did you have to have your new TCM programmed to your vehicle and if so how did you go about that?

    • @johnhermann762
      @johnhermann762  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the TCM does not have to be programmed on 2006 thru 2009 Mazda 5; I can't say for any other years; I don't know. But understand that the TCM is different for 2006/2007 (4 speed) and 2008/2009 (5 speed) models.
