Gremline Head-On PCB Repair - Part 4 - Replaced RAM sockets but still not working
Replaced the RAM sockets and that improved the stability of the PCB. I believe that I have bad 8216 transceiver chips, so have ordered some. It will take a couple of weeks for them to come in, so this board is being put on the back burner.

Gremlin Head-On PCB Repair - Part 3 - Negative 5V supply repaired
มุมมอง 182 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
In this video, the -5V supply was discovered to be dead due to a shorted tantalum capacitor. All tantalum caps were replaced for good measure. That is about the only progress that was made. The UniROM PCB was built, but did not make much difference. Do not know yet if the UniROM PCB is going to work or if the original 2708 EPROMs are good.
Gremlin Head-On PCB Repair - Part 2 - Cleaning socketed chips sees activity on addr and data buses
มุมมอง 224 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Data bus activity was non-existent, and only the lower address bits were active on the address bus. Removing all socketed ICs and cleaning the pins restores all data and address bits to full activity. Game still does not play, so next will be checking the ROMs. RAMs show activity that looks to be correct, but one or more could still be bad. Note: My comments about the replacement ROM PCB are in...
Gremlin Head-On PCB Repair - Part 1 - Creating the test harness

This is the first video of the repair of an old Gremlin Head-On Game PCB. Bought on Ebay and it was nasty to the touch. Cleaned up the PCB, and built a test harness to power up and display the video. Fixed a problem that prevented the video from syncing, but the game is not running.

Tear down of a 20 year old Kenmore electric range. The only reason we replaced this range was because the glass was broke; everything still worked except for the one burner because of the crack. We bought a new Maytag electric range and it seems to work very well; but I believe the quality of the old Kenmore range is better.
Midway Super Pacman PCB repair.

Looks like the color PROM is wrong. Need to replace it with a correct 32x8 PROM. Since those are getting hard to find and are expensive, decided to build a PCB using PCBway to replace the PROM with a W27C512 fast EEPROM. Will finish repair after the PCB is received.

From day one after buying this car, there was a loud gear noise. Didn't know if it was coming from the front or the rear of the car, but was pretty sure it was the rear; now I know for a fact it was the rear transaxle. Installed a new transmission pan; the old was was crushed in pretty bad. Had to replace the pan bolts; bought some stainless steel ones on Amazon. Although not the perfect fit, I'm not disappointed with them. In spite of the tranny fluid having never been replaced before with 134,000 miles on it, the tranny is actually shifting nice and smooth.

Did you make a part 2 to this video?
Hi. I made many parts but the title was not consistent. Basically I replaced everything I could think of, but I could never resolve the P420 error. It is the general consensus that a more expensive, higher quality catalytic convert is required or a Nissan car will reject it. Any other make of car it's not as much of a problem.
Use it untill it lets out the magic electrical gini 😅.
Your taking better care assembling that drill than the Chinese kid that made it bravo sir . Bravo
So I’m having issues now 05 Altima starts up but stalls right away unless tapping the gas tried swapping maf sensor an still same issue please help

Everyone tslks about the fake plugs but no one is showing how they perform in the vehicle or what no videos on that
Did you put them in and if so what happened
Hi. Yes, the plugs are currently being used. The car doesn't get a huge amount of use, so there is only about 10,000 miles on the plugs. But they are working just fine; it was a good choice for the car that we don't use too much. I have driven it on the highway several times, but mostly only local short city driving.
what is the size of the motor shaft?
Hi. I honestly don't know and it's been a long time since I fixed my fan. It's probably metric, but it might be 1/4".
Thank you. I'm doing this on a 2006 and what a pain. I can't believe Mazda embedded the radiator into that shroud the way they did. A radiator should not be this difficult to replace.
Yeah; I thought the same thing. Good Luck!
@@johnhermann762 Thankfully I found the shop manual pdf and it said to remove the whole bumper cover. I'm glad I did that because it was pretty easy to remove and gave better access for handling the condenser and radiator. It was still a huge PITA but after a while I figured that if I pulled the radiator+condenser combo towards the engine from the top, the lifted them up a bit (along with the bottom rubber grommets), I could the get the bottom loose. Then with a helper holding the assembly it was pretty easy to separate the radiator from the condenser. Still far more complicated than it should have been - they should have just used some bolts instead of that crappy slot-in design to attach the two together.
It's weird man I have the same fan exactly except mine is white and grey! I have the same problem with the fins not spinning & I found your video very helpful thks man.
This fan is great when it's working; blows a ton of air; have it pointing right at me while I sleep each night. Still working great since the repair.
@johnhermann762 I followed the directions however..... the screws that needed to be removed to take of the spinner cap to reveal the barrings were stripped 3 were messed up so what I did was I squirted it with dawn dish soap let it soak in then I hit it with the hot water! As I was hitting it with the water I took a wrench and rotated the spinner til it was loose then I finished cleaning it up, drying the individual parts, reassembled and powered it on to success! Thks for posting this video by all means it was helpful
It took me like 7 times to get it right, but now it running beautifully and smoothly. Thanks a lot for your help life saver. Best video on TH-cam!

WTF is wrong with this video????
How much did you pay for and how many miles?
I paid way too much because the car was suppose to "need nothing". It has 134,000 miles on the odometer.
I would take it back to the dealership and get my money back with all the proof you have. Also dont forget to mention the name of this dealership.
The car is already titled to me, making it more difficult to return. When I approached them with my concerns about the car being a flood car, they denied it based on the clean title status. When I pushed them to state the car was safe to drive they became agitated to where I was uncomfortable dealing with them further.
I was completely into the video but then 2 minutes in you ruin it by playing the video in slow motion so you can't even understand what your saying for the last 8 minutes.
@@asalvano I'm sorry; it wasn't intensional. I tried to convert to normal but couldn't figure it out. It still shows how nasty the fluid was and the bolt that I could not remove. Nothing else was noteworthy.
Sadly I see this daily as people just "blindly" buy any Toyota/Honda/Nissan bx they don't think they ever have issues. dealers know they can make huge profit off the fact that people don't inspect Toyota/Honda/Nissan bx most people don't think THN can break down. People always heavily inspect Chevy/Ford/Dodge and usually don't get burned at all.
0:16 sec into video and I can tell it was crashed, d FL door doesn't match
This isn't CarGurus' fault. If someone just cleans up their car after a flood without reporting it to their insurance, they could get away with trading it in at a dealer because it wouldn't show on a CarFax report. Some dealers don't look cars over well before putting them on the lot so that they can make more profit by not putting any time or money into them. This happened to me in 2007 when I bought a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT AWD and I brought it back to the dealer and showed them all of the signs that it was a flood car. It had a clean CarFax report too. They ended up buying it back from me and giving me my down payment back.
Never buy a flood car UNLESS you want a project car. Because a flood car needs to be stripped down to the chassis and checked for everything. Majority of dealers will never invest that kind of time and money into any vehicle.
Im. No expert ...but I don't feel good about using cards over 32 Gb That's just me .also me If you want TERABYTES of storage ..why not opt for a nice external drive for the cost of 5 or 10 32 gb cards . Sticking with SanDisk . I can't bring myself to shop where they sell women's lingerie for 69 cents .
Thanks for your service 😊
CarGurus, I'll remember that. It is a nice looking vehicle.
Car gurus is just a search engine you need to name the dealer who sold this to you . sucks to hear this happened to you, after spending the last few days test driving some of these lots of bad ones out there and most dealers don't care .
That sounds like at least a thousand or more in repairs. People already overprice the heck out of old ravs, but to knowingly sell an overpriced one with this many issues is scummy. Sorry to hear brother
You don't know half of the story yet; stay tuned.
Oof. Buyer beware!
Lol, specifically looking for a video showing how to remove the tcm connectors without breaking them
It may not be possible to disconnect without breaking; they are plastic and getting pretty old. I was lucky, mine didn't break but I remember thinking this sure feels like it's about to break.
@@johnhermann762 Thanks, I found another video where they got into it, there's a tab you can barely feel underneath what seems to be the release tab, which is the real release tab, that allows you to raise those white arms and pop the connector out. everything that I thought except that the release tab is difficult to get to since its barely feelable underneath the plastic that I assume is there to protect it.
I’m not sure what my problem is but the motor part is just vibrating and the blades won’t move any ideas?
Try replacing the capacitor as mentioned in the video.
@@johnhermann762did you use a specific oil?
@@christiansanchez9141 Nothing special; just a light weight oil. I would use regular motor oil like 20 or 30 weight if that's all I had.
@@johnhermann762 ok thank you
If its one thing i would be secptical about and not buy its the cards with the known brands if you are not buying from a trusted store which i dont consider Amazon/Temu/Ali express etc to be, there is probably an even higher risk of these being fake since a brand name sells more easily and you also probably have to pay a price that is more close to buying the "same" in a legit store. That said there are probably a lot of fake cards out there of both known brands and noname brands. Using the same exact packaging is smart though even if it was a genuine brand product so i would expect even the big brands to do that, i certianly would i i were them.
I got same ones but they didn’t try to hide the fact they are manufactured in China and do not have any engraving “Japan.” $13 for (4) iridium plugs I should’ve known better but damn that price is hard to beat. It’s been 2 yrs since this video, are they still working alright now?
@@Alexa-pe8ie yes. Still in service. But to be fair the car doesn't have very many miles on them.
My switch melted. Are there any videos on how to replace the switch? Thanks
Hi. I don't have a video, but if I were replacing it, I would get a ceiling fan switch from home depot (or more likely off of a junk ceiling fan), and wire it in instead; it will take more current than the light duty switch that is in this fan. Or, if you know what speed you use the most often (for us, it's always on low), you could use just a single pole light switch; only connecting the speed wire you want and common.
@@johnhermann762 Ok, thanks
This moron split the motor, removed the armature, put a few drops of oil on the shaft and housing, and re-assembled it. Fan used to run slow Now it doesn't run at all unless i jump-start the fan with my finger, barely moving at that, and the motor runs hot!
Hi John, would you be willing to sell or release the design of your TDA1004 replacement PCB? Im working on Drag Race, Canyon Bomber, etc. and the amps all seem to burn out.
Hi. Yes, I can let go of some of the PCBs; how many are you needing? I only had 10 built for the one repair I needed them for and I used two of them for it. Since they have only been used on the Drag Race PCB repair, I'm not comfortable selling them yet; I can send you some and you can let me know how they work out for you; then you can pay me what you think they are worth. They will be unpopulated so you'll have to buy the parts and build them up. I'll have to find what I did with them; they are in a box somewhere; let me know if okay and I'll start looking for them.
@@johnhermann762 Minimally I could use 4 ( two boards x 2 channels) but would be happy to build a few more for your use if I'm already buying parts & stuffing. My contact email is available under 'more' if you click on my TH-cam channel, send me an email I'll provide shipping and other information. I very much appreciate it.
The same thing happened to me
Is that supposed to back forward up and down because mine does afterwards?
I'm not sure what you're asking.
@@johnhermann762 please look at 1:08 the part that spins is it supposed move in different directions
Oh, OK. Yes, that bearing will swivel; it should remain somewhat stiff as it swivels to a align the shaft of the motor to the bushing/bearing on the other side of the motor. You are correct, that is suppose to move around in all directions.
@@johnhermann762 i tried doing that it still doesn't spin after I put it together and the little swivel on the top of it came out too
Yeah, mine didn't want to spin even after oiling it. Take some fine sandpaper and clean the shaft, then oil it. I don't think the swivel thing is critical as long as you can insert it back into a usable position.
1:08 the part won't get back into place
Same problem here. thanks for the info. PS, they sell these boards on Amazon.

Nice job showing the details!
How am I able to add credits for annual license membership? I’ve contacted costumer support multiple times with no answer :/
No idea. You would think they would want to sell a license.
So if the fan won't work and makes no sound like it's trying to work, is it the capacitor?
Disregard, I got it apart and got it moving well but still nothing. It's not worth trying to find and put on a capacitor.
I know this is old but your new keys didn't come with transponder installed
It's been a very long time since this all happened and as I recall it did come with transponders but it came with me the wrong ones and that's why it wouldn't program. There should be newer videos showing this.
