I just recently found this channel, I'm not a great photographer and frankly, the concept of shooting a model is something that strikes fear in me.
But I have been going through these videos and I cannot help but think OMG, this woman, person - you... well, you are awesome, and you totally fk'in ROCK.

You are very mature to restrict your ripostes ad rem, rather than ad hominem. Such intelligent parrys can only attract my utmost praise. Brava! Jossy! Brava!

This was a very interesting video for me. I remember fearing, when you wrote articles for newspapers about your modeling, and then when you came out with your wonderful book, that you would be getting a lot of abuse online, and I did think at the time that I hoped you would not be engaging with them because it might lead to unhappiness at being drawn into their negativity. But the reasons you've shared makes perfect sense, and I continue to be very impressed with how smart and principled you are. I have always felt a bit of shame at the pictures and videos I watch, thinking that there is something a bit wrong with me for liking images of women tied up, so when you do your videos about your career that demonstrate you have have full agency over your work and are so thoughtful and considerate about things, it makes me feel that maybe I am an okay person as well. Thanks for everything you do. I hope the medical difficulties go away soon and that you have safe travels.

Daniel, like most of the bdsm community, you strike me as a thoughtful, intelligent and articulate person, who is kind and thinks of others before himeself. Rest assured that you should embrace your kink as any bon viveur should, and revel in it's delights and your lofty position in being blessed with them. Huzzah!

Thank you so much for your very kind words and I really hope that you can overcome your shame because there's nothing wrong with your tastes. I always think it's quite comforting to consider the fact that for every man who likes these images, there's a woman who wants to *be* in those images, and the number of men who want to tie people up seems pretty equal to the number of women who do. So there's a nice balance to the whole thing - it's not like you're fantasising about a thing that no women would ever want to experience IRL. Hope that maybe helps a bit!

Ariel I have had psoriasis since childhood and used to suffer all sorts of horrible nasty comments, which made me very self conscious, especially about what to wear, but now there is better treatment for the condition, that slows down the skin cells from forming inflamed areas on my body which I take weekly, but there's no cure, so it's something that stilt needs controlling, but it's a lot better now, in fact it's almost disappeared apart from odd patches on my elbows and knee's, but now i'm older i'm a hell of a lot less sensitive about it as i used to be, but as a kid it was awful because other kids, not all, but some were really nasty little gits, so those days were not the best time of my life, so it's been inspiring for me listening to you talking about your recent diagnosis and how you are coping with it,so well done and keep up the good work.❤

The beginning of the video struck a chord with me and makes me feel so sorry for these hobby models and what they put up with time and time again. I was trapped too, I was modelling on amateur portfolio sites thinking this was it! Little did I know it was more like a cult and a very dangerous game I was playing.
When I looked back at pictures of when I was hobbyist modelling I am shocked at how underweight and unhealthy I was. This was no surprise as on shoots I wouldn’t eat or wouldn’t be allowed a break without the photographer pacing up and down anxiously waiting for me to finish so he can shoot me none stop.
You could just say “Awh that’s just a bad experience”, but it’s not just a bad experience it’s not normal and shouldn’t be normalised.

I'm very sorry your experience wasn't good! I look back at the start of my career sometimes and feel angry about some of the things I put up with, but am grateful that the vast majority of my experiences have been positive. I hope we're in the middle of a cultural change in the industry, because women seem so much less prepared to put up with predatory behaviour and unacceptable working conditions now.

Ariel, I want you to know how truly wonderful and beautiful you are both inside and out. Remember, living by the sword means facing its consequences - don't stress about what happens to the trolls; they're responsible for their own actions. Your insightful video really hit home how complex dealing with negativity can be. It's not just about ignoring it, as many suggest. You've looked deeply into this and chosen to light up the darkness spread by trolls instead of confronting them directly, a wise move that avoids playing into their hands.
Your approach of being the change you wish to see is incredibly inspiring. You understand there's no one-size-fits-all solution; it's about what works best for each person. For you, that means standing tall, educating, and protecting not only yourself but also your peers and all women, especially in this crucial time for justice. Remember, those who try to bring down someone as strong and resilient as you are only setting themselves up for a fall. You're not just beautiful; you're a beacon of strength and understanding in a world that desperately needs it. Keep shining, Ariel.

The fact that you take into account how your response may impact someone who has been abusing to you, and to not be too cruel to them just shows who has the higher morale awareness here. I know that so many newer performers will and do benefit from you taking the time to call this kind of behaviour out - thank you for always speaking up and having their back. :)

Girlllll, honestly id just quit the working with people in person.. it its not worth the risk. Especially when you can work from home safely. I did this for 8 years ( and stopped due to the bad experiences. Not worth the mental toll! Look after yourself x

LOL, I know the feeling, and am grateful we're not dependent on working with photographers any more. It feels worth it, to me, to selectively continue to do it though, cos it's the way I've met so many of my favourite people, including my husband. But God, the bad days can make me question that choice!

The people who say "just ignore them" mean well, of course, however as you've astutely put in this video, the issue is infinitely more nuanced than that, even when looking at it generally. When we look at the issue on a micro level (e.g. individually), it's even more nuanced. They say 'be the change you want to see', and I believe you're doing exactly that by challenging these trolls - and as you very wisely do - broadcasting their vitriol to the world for everyone to see rather than generally engaging them on an individual basis, as I'm sure that's partly their goal. Leaving these trolls unchallenged and simply ignoring them may well be effective for some of them, but it's a delicate balance, and what I believe is a personal balance. Perhaps there's no right or wrong way to address them, other than what is right or wrong for each person, as you very well said, and for you challenging them head on, educating them, and protecting not only yourself but your sister models and women alike (and people in general) is what's right for you, and even more so, perhaps, in this year of justice. I pity anyone who trolls, and I pity even more those who may troll our very own speccy four-eyed sl*t, because they're going to get their comeuppance in spades.
