BTO ~ Down the Road (1978)

- Rocking song from BTO! Taken from my 'Bachman Turner Overdrive Gold' Disc 2. The song was written by Jim Clench, Blair Thornton, C.F. Turner, and Robbie Bachman. Released after the departure of Randy Bachman, but still has that sound BTO fans know so well. 'Down the Road' was released on their album 'Street Action', a heavy rock album. From what I understand, Randy left to do some solo work and didn't return. At this time Jim Clench joined the band, formerly of April Wine (one of my favorites from their earlier line-up). In 1978 BTO were nominated for a Juno Award for Group of the Year. Around this time Randy started a band called Ironhorse. I love music from them all! :) I believe Randy came back to the band some years later.
The video pics are of the Trans Canada Highway #1, which spans some 5 thousand miles from one side of the country to the other. Both sides have taken the name as 'Mile O' at Victoria British Columbia on the west side (Vancouver Island), and St John's Newfoundland on the east side. There's more pics of the west side, kind of short changing the east.. not intentional, its just the way it worked out, but I am on the west :) There's a map showing the highway crossing the country at the end. The Trans Canada is one of the longest highways in the world, maybe two are longer.. one is in Australia. Hope you enjoy the video :)

Seeing Victoria, BC as the start of this highway is pretty funny
BTO was my first concert, ever! Penrose stadium in Colorado Springs in a driving thunderstorm. They opened for another band that refused to play their biggest tune (two hangmen, Mason Profit), and we boo'd that long forgotten band off the stage, hoping Randy & company would return to the stage. Good times!

bad ass. this song gives me energy....big time. With the exception of maybe Blue Collar, this is their best song.
