I am commenting from 🇬🇧 England. I did this yesterday on my wife's car. I couldn't believe how difficult it was for a filter service, and so I found your video, to check that I was using the correct procedure. I thought that there should be a way to remove the entire air box. What a stupid design! Thank you for taking the time to post this.
Stood in front of my Berlingo for 15 Minutes and couldn´t figure out how to change the filter. Found your video, and just worked along with it. Would never found that out on my own. Thank you very much for that!

Great video, you'd have no chance of working out how to change that filter, I literally can't believe where they put that! Wish I still had my cortina, 2 fly nuts , swap filter, one minutes work!
Salut, Pentru a scoate acea rama trebuiesc demontate bratele de stergator de la parbriz, practic pentru mine ar fi fost un volum de munca suplimentar in conditiile in care am suficient acces pe sub rama :)
se pare ca rama respectiva este din doua bucati( stiu pentru ca acum 30 de minute am demontat-o) , cu partea voluminoasa data jos ai mult mai mult spatiu , atat de mult ca am putut scoate cu totul carcasa filtrului si am curatat-o si pe aceasta. Si dureaza 5 minute sa o dai jos , respectiv sa desfiletezi cele doua suruburi din lateral , fara nici o legatura cu stergatoarele
Good video very well detailed. But my god what a pain in the ass it is just to replace air filter. In my Seat Leon I can literally replace air filter under 60 seconds flat.
Nice video...i am thinking about changing the filter myself. What would be the most obvious part to break when doing this? I have a bad habit of breaking old plastic clips when attempting repairs myself... :|
I find it much easier, although it's a little more long-winded; to just remove the wipers and the whole scuttle assembly below the windscreen. This gives unhindered access to the air filter box, which can be lifted off the vehicle and dealt with at the workbench. This does involve more work than shown above, but this guy is doing "keyhole surgery"! I always change the fuel filter at the same time as the air filter, which kills two birds with one stone.
Good video, luckily my 2012 308 1.6 Hdi just had an easily accessable plastic housing held in with 3 screws and a clip on the side. A 2 minute job - Lady luck usually doesn't shine on me this way!
Does your 1.6 HDI sound like it doesn't have an air filter? I've many Citroen's and Peugeot's with that engine sound like that do and it's probably down to rattling airboxes and the intakes pipes. If i was to own a car with that engine it would have to be a Ford Focus simply due to them putting it in a better place and being much quieter.

Ieu am un 206 Xsi cu acelasi motor dar are mai mult spatiu la compartimentul motorului decat 207,c4,307,308... Nu inteleg cum daca ie asa de mica masina 😂. Sper sa nu te deranjez dar miar place sa te intreb cati km ai putut face cu acest motor? Ai avut vreo data probleme cu dpf? Mersi! Salutari din Spania!
Salut! Este interesanta combinatia de 206 + 1.6hdi ;) Eu sunt foarte multumit de masina mea (308) si de aceasta motorizare, pana acum am 260.000 km fara nicio problema. P.S. Maina mea nu are DPF, este printre ultimile versiuni fara DPF.

Great video, but so sad engineering! With all the 3D software, cars bigger then ever and we need 10 minutes videos to explain how consumable filter is replaced. I think there was a Fiat in eighties where you had to remove radiator to change oil filter!
Adrian Dragan really!!! they advise us to replace both air and oil filters every 10.000 kms. It is too early, dont you think? What can be the reason, to bang our cash?

Pentru scoaterea completa a carcasei filtrulu de aer, mai e necesara desfacerea vreo unor suruburi sau scoaterea bateriei? Mi s-a spart suportii de la carcasa filtrului de aer si acum bate in partea de sus a egrului asa ca am luat o carcasa de filtru de aer din dezmembrari si ma gandesc daca o pot monta singur
Salut. O poti schimba fara probleme dar va trebui sa demontezi bateria si eventual suportul metalic ce sustine bateria. Dupa ce demontezi bateria scoti si capacul superior prin care ai acces la filtru, scoti filtrul si va ramane partea inferioara a carcasei pe care o tragi initial in sus si apoi incerci sa o scoti prin lateral pe unde a fost bateria. Vezi ca partea de jos a carcasei se fixeaza cu doua picioruse in doua tampoane de cauciuc, verifica sa ai acele tampoane pe suport, e destul de greu sa le vezi in spatele motorului dar poti sa le simti daca pipai cu mana. Sper sa-ti fie de ajutor explicatiile. Succes!
The problem is that this engine bay is pretty small in this car, I have seen 407 (I think) with this motor and they can remove the filter without having to remove a million parts before that... pretty bad desing
The 405 and the 406 was the same, 3 minute job. Did my Berlingo Yesterday and it took the Best Part of an Hour to get the Old Filter out, that's including Coffee Breaks and Finding the right tools. There is a wide open Space to the Left of the Battery, why not put it there.
Manufacturers make it as difficult as possible so the average person take the car back to the stealership for the simplest of job. Bring back the old day when you could take the whole car apart with 13mm spanner and a screwdriver.

This car is my first car with diesel engine. So I have no experience with diesel engines. It's exhaust smoke coming black expecially on high engine rpm (upper 2500, and changing gear). I checked exhaust out with finger and I saw so much soot(carbon black). Is it normal ? If its not normal, what I have to do? I am waiting for your help.
Salut Iulian, Air Flow Meter (debitmetrul de aer) se curata cu niste spray-uri speciale pentru asa ceva, eu am folosit unele de la CRC www.emag.ro/spray-curatare-debitmetru-crc-air-sensor-cleaner-210109/pd/DTPDMYBBM/ , se gaseste si prin magazinele de piese auto. NU folosi pensula sau orice altceva pentru a curata debitmetrul, in interior sunt niste senzori foarte sensibili la presiuni fizice, risti sa-l strici iremediabil si atunci va trebui sa cumperi unul nou :)
C'est beaucoup plus simple en démontant les essuies glaces et la baie de pare brise qui tient par une vis, ensuite accès bien plus vaste a la boîte a air du filtre, j'en 'ai même profité pour fermer une fuite sur cette boîte avec des colliers plastique, depuis plus de bruit d'admission 😎

The great thing about the C4 is that everybody knows they are a nightmare to work on. So you can pick them up second hand with low km for a fraction of the price of a properly designed car. They go OK for a while, and then you throw them out.

i did mine today...didn't go to all that trouble...i just removed the hoses...took the screws out and lifted the lid enough to get the filter out...then squeezed the new on in
Craig Heslop ...yeah but it was tight as hell... .. once you remove the hoses and undo the torx screws it can be lifted just enough to pull out the old one and squeeze the new one in....good luck
Having undertaken this job a couple of times I can verify that it is one pain in the &*%. On a Peugeot 308 I used to own it took me around half an hour. I now own a Mazda 3 (with the same 1.6 HDI engine as the Peugeot) but because Mazda / Ford saw this as a horrendous design flaw, they decided to locate the airbox towards the front of the engine. The result? I can change the filter in less than 2 minutes. Whoever thought putting the airbox at the back of the engine was a good idea needs a talking to.
@@AdrianDragan And the rest! I'm about to attempt to service my wife's Citroen C4. Same engine but newer model (year 2011, 1.6 HDI) so I'm hoping that access to the airbox may be a little more straightforward (but I'm not hopeful!).
Much EASIER to remove the windscreen wipers (two nuts), brake fluid reservoir (two screws) and scuttle panel (one screw). This gives you complete access and you don't have to touch and risk damaging the fuel lines/bulb or the MAF.
Good instructions but my God what a pig of a job. It took 5 minutes to get the ancillaries off and an hour and a half of struggle to get the cover off the air filter due to knackered star bolts which were in so tight I could barely move them. Never again. I will pay someone to do it next time!
Hmm well thats a bigger Catastrophy than my 308 from 07/2014. I replaced both filters today. After taking off the cover there a three screws to loosen. I thought what an idiot designed that to put the filter which has exactly the same height as the slot where you can put it through. But when i see this... Frenchn Createur de malheur. Next time i will buy a ricecooker again.

Same as my saab super simple job, spark plugs on a Nissan Note is another nightmare job, have to remove the complete airbox to get at the coil packs.

You are right, the placement of the air filter on the Ford 1.6 TDCI is much better than on the Peugeot.

In heavy traffic conditions it is better to be changed early filters & oil.

Most likely a faulty Diesel Particle Filter gone bad or missing its fluid, Do some research.. goodluck

Cauzele pot fi multiple, de aceea un tester Peugeot ar putea elucida problema.

i did mine today...didn't go to all that trouble...i just removed the hoses...took the screws out and lifted the lid enough to get the filter out...then squeezed the new on in
kill dozer Did u manage ok just removing the hoses? I don't fancy taking everything off......
Craig Heslop ...yeah but it was tight as hell... .. once you remove the hoses and undo the torx screws it can be lifted just enough to pull out the old one and squeeze the new one in....good luck

Having undertaken this job a couple of times I can verify that it is one pain in the &*%. On a Peugeot 308 I used to own it took me around half an hour. I now own a Mazda 3 (with the same 1.6 HDI engine as the Peugeot) but because Mazda / Ford saw this as a horrendous design flaw, they decided to locate the airbox towards the front of the engine. The result? I can change the filter in less than 2 minutes. Whoever thought putting the airbox at the back of the engine was a good idea needs a talking to.
I agree with you. Perhaps Peugeot engineers have missed from the job the day they designed the casing and air filter location 😁
@@AdrianDragan And the rest! I'm about to attempt to service my wife's Citroen C4. Same engine but newer model (year 2011, 1.6 HDI) so I'm hoping that access to the airbox may be a little more straightforward (but I'm not hopeful!).
My old van changing an air filter was a 20 second job , now this ..

Much EASIER to remove the windscreen wipers (two nuts), brake fluid reservoir (two screws) and scuttle panel (one screw). This gives you complete access and you don't have to touch and risk damaging the fuel lines/bulb or the MAF.
Hiding it under there is unforgivable. I had a C4 and was gobsmacked when I saw where it was located.

Good instructions but my God what a pig of a job. It took 5 minutes to get the ancillaries off and an hour and a half of struggle to get the cover off the air filter due to knackered star bolts which were in so tight I could barely move them. Never again. I will pay someone to do it next time!

Hmm well thats a bigger Catastrophy than my 308 from 07/2014. I replaced both filters today. After taking off the cover there a three screws to loosen. I thought what an idiot designed that to put the filter which has exactly the same height as the slot where you can put it through. But when i see this... Frenchn Createur de malheur.
Next time i will buy a ricecooker again.
