Neil Young wrote this song for his former bandmate, Danny Whiten, who passed away. Danny Whiten was en excellent composer too and wrote/performed 'I don't wanna talk about it" which became famous in Rod Stewart 's version. Happy birthday Neil, RIP Danny, well done Rod & thank you Choir! Choir! Choir!
This song was written before Danny died. According to “Journey Through the Past” by Nigel Williamson, when it was first performed - a year before it was released - Neil announced it was written “about some people you know, some people I know, and some people that neither one of us knows.”
as soon as I saw it was from Neil Young and was posted today, I knew it was because it was his birthday. Only reason I know that, is because today is also my dad's birthday and he is a big Neil Young fan.

Okay. So I love Neil, I love this song, I love choir choir choir. But why the hell is this being produced during a pandemic in Toronto. If this has been recorded during the last 6 months you have lost me as a fan. Actually I can not believe this would be posted at all now. The organizers are going to get kicked in the ass for this. As it is in direct conflict with what has been asked by everything to keep people safe. Neil would not approve.
"We sang this a while back, in better, safer times" There had been weekly Tuesday choirs for a long time before the lockdowns started. I can remember 2 that I went to in 2019 that are not on TH-cam yet, and the very last one in 2020 before the first lockdown isn't on TH-cam either. My guess is the videos for TH-cam can take a while to produce from the footage taken. This one specifically I think was filmed in 2019, since it's filmed at Clinton's which closed in February 2020.
Neil's one voice is 100 times better than a big group. Bigness and goodness are not nearly synonymous. It does work on some songs. Not this one. Give me Neil's solitary, lonely voice. Not this mob.
Respectfully, Joe, while your opinion may have some merit, they way you worded it diminished the validity of your message considerably, at least in my opinion. I think that for a choir this size (definitely not what I'd call a "mob"), they did an amazing job of communicating the tenderness and melancholy of the original tune. Try to view it as another take on the same message, and maybe you'll appreciate it a little more. Just my two cents, no offense intended.
All you need is Uncle Neil and his Guitar.
One man, one guitar, one song and dozens of voices can change and bring the world together. It will be through and with music that unifies.

I'd like to suggest you interpret the song Aquarius from the Hair musical. I'm sure it would be lovely.

This was really kewl.....Neil da Man....you all made him proud....Loved it
Great job!
Choirs are underrated
I think g-d likes choirs because when many voices are together, imperfections disappear. If he exists, I think this is what he wants to hear.

Love USA ❤
Where is the little choir master guy?
Nobu was behind the camera for this one
прикольно

I wish they’d try one song without the guitar just once. It’s kind of distracting sometimes

Then please step away. I can assure you none of us thought we were besting anything Neil put into the universe when we sang this last year ✌️
@@spmunro It was just an opinion. Please don't be angry.
